Dream Koi Pond Pt8 - The Concrete Base is in, at last.

- So after what seemed likes an eternity the concrete pond has finally been laid. Initially I had ordered 2 tonne of Ballast and 12 bags of concrete. Well that wasn't enough! It managed to complete just over 50% of the build so a trip to BnQ was in order.
33 bags of Ballast and 10 Bags of Concrete collected and a-presto we have a base.
This video shows the importance of the ground preparation, how to fit shuttering, adjust it and fill the base.
With a massive thanks to my little Bro, Ben - Love you buddy.
Please like and subscribe to support the channel.
Your base looks enormous, it’s going to be a big pond. As your bro is a top builder, you should get him to show you how the professionals lay blocks 😏😉😄. I think your shower should be on the far end backing onto the filter house, my shower has crystal bio in one tier and kockney koi kintama balls in the other tier. It works well for me. Returns across the window is good, but you’ll need one on the opposite side to push the water down the pond towards the drain. Enjoyable video, keep them coming. Stay safe and well 👍🏻
Steve as always, I really appreciate your time to respond. Ive tried, he isn't that easy to get hold of. He will be back in a another episode, towards the end of the build to show us all some proper expertise. I won't spoil it too much though, after all I want to be the star of the show LOL.
Ben’s a top builder 👌
He’s the bomb mate and also a top bro - as you know 😉
TOP JOB Tony
Thanks David. 👍🏻
always good to see progress
Thanks
well done, its gonna look amazing 👍👍👍
Thanks Andy, thanks for the support. 🙏🇯🇵
Looking great mate, good progress
apologies for the delay - RUclips sucks for this type of thing sometimes. thanks for the support Peter.
Good luck
Looking good bud looks alot bigger now it's down cracking job 👍
Cheers mate. I don’t know why, the camera really didn’t expose the size until now. It seemed rather overwhelming at times, but this has given me the drive to go for it now.
@@KraftyKoi nice one bud how big length and width is the base now?
@@keepingitkoi 2.5x5 x1.8 will be the measurements.
@@KraftyKoi nice one mate that will do the trick 👍
Phworh I wouldn't want to hand mix that base. Nice one lad!
It was a bit of graft, but worth it.
@@KraftyKoi you're based near me (Guildford) aren't you?
Nope, no where near 😂. You’re GU I’m in Northampton, J15 on M1. Only about 3hrs away.
@@KraftyKoi hah, yeah, fuck that I won't suggest me popping round for a ☕ then 😂
@@NishikigoiwithOliver more than welcome anytime 😂
Just subscribed 👍got to love a new build, hope all goes to plan mate 👌
Thanks Kevin, appreciate the support mate.
Remember them days fare play mate no the fun starts got a like from me and the video quality is on point definitely see the editing skills mate
Thanks James. Glad you enjoyed it. I ain’t gonna lie, I’m shitting it. 😂
@@KraftyKoi you will be ok mate just take your time and get it how you want it mate
@@JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123 oh definitely, similar to you you mate. Never done any building work before so it’s trial and error. The only issue I have is that some of my build isn’t supported by any ground holding it all together due to it being on a hill. So 4-5ft will be a big wall.
Great job mate 😊
Thanks 😁
Yes Tony 🙌🏽
So is Ben your brother 🤔 should have been a drinking game, you mention hes your brother and we have a drink haha just messing with you 👍🏼
Coming along nicely now buddy 👌🏽
Personally if money allows I'd go for momotaro BHM media in the shower but it has a hefty price tag.
But you should look for a ceramic media as you will already have the plastic type in your nexus, if it were me I'd speak to Mike at queni koi and see what deal he can do but it's best to shop around.
Stu at Surrey koi uses burtons ceramic media and has found its excellent so far, you will most likely see him on Saturday so I'm sure he will be more than happy to share his findings 😉
Seen you’ve picked up on the “brother” thing. 😂 He hates the camera so I made sure he knew every-time I mentioned him 😂 He’ll be getting ripped to shreds at work for being on the Tube! Momotaro media is like having a mortgage 😂 That said, Lee Hadfield uses it as well and he swears by it. I may need to save a few pennies to get some. Are you going to the show?
@@KraftyKoi I know a fair few people including us who uses BHM and i wouldn't change it to anything else but at around £165 for a 10kg box it's a argument waiting to happen 🤣
You dont have to buy it all at once 👍🏼
Yes I'm at the show and of course i will make sure i say hi 👋🏼
You’re cracking on now Tony👍😊. Your brother knows what he’s doing , great to have someone like that giving you a hand👍. Base looks massive so going to be a great build👍. Looking forward to the next instalment 👍🐟🈲😊
Thanks Phil, starting to enjoy it again. Always helps when you enjoy something. 817 subs now, 41 since last video 👍🏻💪🏻
Nearly there mate.. Won't be long before your sitting in front of the pond with a beer in ya hand...😉👍
Still got some graft in, but its like the best part when you make it look pretty, 😁
Remember, a clean site is a safe site young fella me lad. 👍🤣
Health and Safety mate, it’s not a dirty phase. 😂😂
It's going to be brilliant budd. Well done. Can't wait for the next instalment.
Thanks Kevin. 👌🏻👍🏻
Nice video their so much better with some action 👍🏼all looking good
what action are you referring, happy for the feedback so I know what to include in content.
Looking forward to the next episode learning so much about pond building, shame my little brother works in a office 😂
Mate, I’m no builder I promise you that. I learn as I do it. It makes your ring twitch when you know how costly mistakes can be, but we have to fail to learn. Although my brothers a builder he is like rocking horse shit to get hold of always working somewhere. Thanks for the support. Please make sure you like the video. 🇯🇵🇯🇵
Smashing it out! 👍
Yes Scorpio Jay and I’m feeling it. Feel tired AF on Sunday 😂. Thanks for the support.
@@KraftyKoi Nice one mate look forward to seeing the build 👍
Great work 👍
Thank you Andrew. 😁
Here from Telford koi pond loving the videos mate and hopefully your build goes as well as his build went 👍🏼
Hopefully it’ll be a lot drier 😂. Thanks for the support, appreciate it.
Will be following this build as i will be upgrading my pond from liner to blockwork :)
Excellent, always good to share my experiences.
Great update pal, been following your build and listening to all ur tips, ready for when I build my next one
Thanks for the support buddy. I’ll share everything warts n all. I’m shitting myself for building the walls. But let’s see how it goes.
Looking good mate👍 going to be a nice size. Bloody hard work building a koi pond finished mine back end of last year.
Hi Andrew, I bet you’ve not regretted a second of it neither. Thanks for the support. 🇯🇵🇯🇵🙌🏻
Just get a bag of self leveling compound and fill that low spot in you won’t need much at all for £15 it’s worth doing
Hi James, I am putting some kingspan down, would that stop it or would you still add the compound?
@@KraftyKoi I’d still put leveler down to fill the void then you won’t have to worry about a dip
@@jameshudson2587 im on it, thank you for the support. be sure to like the video 😄 appreciate your feedback.
Get a mask on 😂
What for, lungs can take it.
