April March = Elinor Lanman Blake, born 4/20/65 in NYC. Singer, chief animator for Ren & Stimpy Show. Known for English virgin of French ye-ye song, "Laisse Tomber les Filles", renamed "Chick Habit" & played in 1999's But I'm a Cheerleader & Tarantino's 2007 Death Proof. "Laisse tomber les filles" = "Drop it with the girls/Stop messing around with the girls". Written by Serge Gainsbourg, originally sung by ye-ye singer France Gall and hit #4 on Billboard France in 1964. I LOVE THIS SONG.
Wow. So I believe back when this was filmed she was 48 years old. Which is crazy to think because she looks pretty young and beautiful! Uncle Dane brought me here but now I'm interested to find more of her music!
@HeLovesCulture Tarantino definitely has the eclectic taste going on, doesn't he? I was a hardcore greaser for a long time and never went for big band stuff because there was so much better post-war type stuff out there. For modern-retro stuff, Hi Fi and the Roadburners were always my favorite, but I never really go into psychobilly much (but loved he Misfits and The Cramps).
@HeLovesCulture The description says "New Morning, Paris," nothing more. And when performing the same songs over and over again must really get old, so I can't imagine how bands like The Who do it. This may have been the end of a long set at the end of a long tour, and if so, it shows.
@HeLovesCulture This isn't bad, but it's the only song I've heard from her, and only that because it's connected to Grindhouse. Not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate it for what it is. If you dig retro babes, look for a little rockabilly filly named Josie Kreuzer.
This is incorrect. April March was born in '65, which would have made it sound completely different with a 4-5 year old singing. The song IS originally French, and DID come from the 60's, but it was written by Serge Gainsbourg, and was performed by France Gall originally in '64. To be fair though, April March DID do the translation/original performance of the english version, but not until much later in the 2000's.

Oh my. She sings exactly catching the original tune. Every single note.
Wow, I had no idea she was 48 years old. She's absolutely gorgeous, looks nothing her age.
Just randomly thought that I didn't know who sang this song. Look her up and I too am wildy amazed by her age. Very gorgeous for her age.
she was born in 1965 so she would have been 44 in 2009, shave 4 years off.
