JT, the 20p for a bag is literally in EVERY shop here in the UK. Can’t get a bag for free for about 3/4 years
The only store in the US that does it is ALDI. And they've got different costs for different quality bags, but they're all reusable. Isn't the UK's a tax?
But I understand from other Quintessentially British reactions ALDI is considered a low-end grocer in the UK, but products are better than the high-end stores. But here ALDI is becoming very popular, and is up there among the top stores. Although, I don't know really if America has such a division as high-end vs low-end grocers. A lot of grocers are regional. ALDI started that way. At first ALDI offered mostly ersatz brands, but at the same prices as name brands. However, those ersatz brands were actually of better quality.
It's funny because Aldi is basically Germany's Sainsbury's.

@@FLQueerLiberal1982 doesn’t matter if you’re going to Waitrose or M&S (considered posh) or a corner shop, bags are 15p-30p anywhere you go. Whether that’s a reusable bag or a throw away one lol

The "CHECKED" being upside down is actually very easy to explain.
If you put a horizontal line right through the middle of each letter, the top and bottom is an exact reflection (i.e. they have "horizontal symmetry", therefore, if you flip them all upside down, they'll be the same.
In fact, B, C, D, E, H, I, K, O and X all do this. So any words spelled with any of those letters can be flipped horizontally, and still read the same.
Also, A, H, I, M, O, T, U, V, W and Y have vertical symmetry, which means you can flip them vertically (that is left to right), and they'll remain the same.
This means that any words spelled only using those letters can be flipped, and the letters will still look the same. However, since the left to right direction is flipped, the actual word itself will also be flipped.
For example, if you have the word "MAT", and flip it, it will say "TAM".
The reason we've been paying for bags for a few years is because plastic is discouraged as it's really harmful to the enviornment - so to charge for a bag is making a lot of people re-use bags or buy hessian or cloth bags to take with them to the shops. They're not expensive, last for years & are biodegradeable. It's almost shameful to use a plastic bag these days unless it's 'a bag for life'.

You're gonna be carrying everything everywhere, unless you spend 20p on a bag or unless of course you spend a pound on a bag on our pound shops then you just reuse it every time you shop thus saving the 20p every time you shop there after. In the UK you won't get a free plastic bag JT, they charge for one where ever you go.

I could be wrong, but I could have sworn the UK's shopping bag cost was a tax. The key to this reusable shopping bags.
Introduced in the UK in 2015 the 'carrier bag tax' as it was labelled was a charge hoping to reduce pollution, it was 5 pence and was raised to 10pence and now can range from 20 pence to whatever the retailers feel like. Since the introduction of a charge single use carrier bag sales have deceased by 95% apparently. As the retailer has to sell them rather than give them away the charge is sales which are taxed. 👍

JT think the word CHECKED. If the upside becomes the downside of each letter, each letter still reads the same. (Or North becomes South) The word mirrors itself.
It's because you can turn every letter of the word CHECKED Upside down and it will still say CHECKED..someone might of already pointed this out..

I’m sure you’ll get plenty of laughs from their clips. Also maybe Gino D’Acampo. He is Italian, but his use of his accent and word choices are hilarious. He is very clever. UK plastic bag tax started with pay 5p for a bag that was better quality but it's already escalated to the point a bag is 30p and will rip to shreds after the first use.
They're meant to be bags for life but who's going to go through the shame and hassle of demanding they replace it every single shop
