    I can just imagine reversible placemats made with a smaller watermelon print on one side and the stripe on the other. Perfect! And then I'd want a set with strawberries!

    Love this!! Aprons always remind me of my grandmother. :D Sweet memories. :D Just as I was thinking the only thing it needed was pockets......you showed the pockets! LOL Too cute and clever! I'd have to stitch a pocket around the opening or I'd be dropping things to the hem of the apron and desperately trying to retrieve them! LOL You're always such an inspiration! TFS! xoxoJanet

      Great idea to stitch a pocket or we'd lose anything we put in there, except our hands...lol.. I asked a similar question about the 'bonus' pockets. Thought I'd somehow missed the explanation. Thanks, Janet H.

    Love the pattern! I think the pocket would be more usable if I just sewed a pocket shape around that opening. Pocket depth to the hem is too deep. how about a button on the side for a little towel? Thanks for the tutorial. Aprons have lost status with the younger folk. Bring 'em back. They're hospitality armour!

    • @leggingsarepants3175
      @leggingsarepants3175 7 лет назад +4

      Rose Johnson if you have snap pliers, snaps would be quicker and less complicated to use than a button.

    • @crochetedlace2838
      @crochetedlace2838 3 года назад +1

      I would just add a belt loop at the top corner to run a towel through. On a classic chef apron the towel should be secure yet easy to remove for emergencies. If you start thinking snaps or buttons, then you have to have accessory towels with the apron. But with a belt loop, any towel works. I'm thinking of this apron in a more utilitarian use, rather than a total "hostessy" look.

    REally cool I certainly will try this, was thinking I need a new apron hehe. When stitching the seam allowances u can also stitch the other side so u have 4 lines of stiches total and then both sides will be identical, well if you are fussy to do it I guess

    Cutest apron ever!!! I am still having a hard time cutting a straight line. I've bought a mat, new blades for my rotary cutter, and all kinds of acrylic scales, this left hand continues to veer off to the left, arg! Maybe it's the arthritis . But I'm going to keep trying, I want to make this, you are an inspiration!!

    • @Ronibearable
      @Ronibearable 7 лет назад +3

      This might help you. Put your pointer finger on top of the rotary cutter, and then "point" your finger slightly toward the ruler edge as you cut. So, you are going to grasp the rotary cutter handle like normal, thumb on one side, fingers on the other. Then lift your pointer finger, and place it on top (assuming your rotary cutter safely keeps your finger away from the blade). Then cut, and slightly point your finger inward toward the edge of the ruler. Your brain will follow your pointer finger better as it's the dominant finger on your hand. You are not trying to cut the ruler, just drive the cutter slightly toward the edge of it as you go. This will prevent you from veering away.

    • @karenchurch503
      @karenchurch503 7 лет назад +1

      I use a spring clamp (can buy from Lowe's or Home Depot) to hold the bottom of the ruler to the table so when I'm using the rotary cutter, I can focus on holding the top of the ruler steady.

    A pocket the size of the entire apron might be too big! One could also top sew a square, rectangle, or oval to suit next to the side opening

  • @cazfromoz1
    @cazfromoz1 6 лет назад

    Laura, I was able to follow your directions easily and yes, it's quick, too. I'm just wondering about those 'bonus' pockets...There isn't any (inner) lining to create the actual pocket, only the 'reversible' apron fabric itself. Have I missed something???
    I think you're VERY creative and I enjoy ALL your videos. Some I've watched numerous times! Thanks for sharing.

    • @SewVeryEasy
      @SewVeryEasy  6 лет назад +1

      there is no lining like a regular pocket, the pocket is just the big opening between the layers

    • @cazfromoz1
      @cazfromoz1 6 лет назад

      OK, thanks, Laura. I believe another viewer has suggested stitching below the opening to make it into a
      pocket. That way items won't get lost at the hemline. Lovely design, Laura. :)

    • @rhiannahedrick1663
      @rhiannahedrick1663 7 лет назад +2

      you should always prewash your fabrics before you start a project. just make sure tgat if its something thar ravels, like flannel, to either use pinking shears on or run a zigzag stitch up the cut edges to keep fraying to a minimum

    • @mzkappy
      @mzkappy 7 лет назад +1

      Yes, if it's something you would be washing in the future. That way the fabric will be pre-shrunk. If it's something like a purse or decorative wall hanging, etc., you don't have to, and probably don't want too because you will lose the crispness of the fabric.
