Birbal was Emperor Akbar's favourite. Other ministers were jealous of this and plotted against Birbal. They shared their plan with the royal barber and promised him a handsome reward. When the barber was trimming Akbar's beard one morning he started a conversation regarding Akbar's father and his ancestors. The barber asked Akbar if he would like to find out if his father and his ancestors needed anything in heaven. Akbar was surprised at the idea but the barber said that he knew a magician who could send a living person to heaven. Akbar agreed to try the idea. Praising Birbal's abilities, the barber suggested that he could send Birbal to heaven. So Birbal was called and on hearing the idea, he agreed. He had two conditions though; A huge sum of money that would take care of his family in his absence and a months time to make proper arrangements for them. Akbar granted him his wish. Birbal built a tunnel from the graveyard to his house for the magician was supposed to make him lie on a pyre to send him with the smoke to heaven.On the designated day, the magician lit the fire and asked Birbal to lie on it. Birbal did so and then cleverly , through the tunnel went to his home.
