Awesome work. I need to do exactly the same frame fabrication in my kombi 1971 I have to fabricate the same two strudel frame pieces you did. But I don’t know where to purchase the steel from in my local area.
Wondering, did you have to fill pre-made holes in the kick panel? I can see at around 19:15 that there is a hole that is visible when you put in the floor panel, but it seems to disappear! I only ask because I've just started to fit one, and the holes in the new kick panel are at same height as the floor panels. Not ideal! In general, I'm finding that panels aren't a great fit, which is a bit disconcerting when you're inexperienced like me!
Hi Robert, I didn't fill any holes in the kick panel, the hole you are refering to actualy sits under the floor when it is all welded in and is used to route heater cables. The lip of the floor sits a lot higher than it is at 19:15 and I did have to do quite a bit of persuading! to get the panel to fit up to the correct hieght, you just have to go slowly and be prepared to make lots of small adjustments to get a good final fit, hope that helps, Jon.
Well done! Let’s keep the Legend Alive”
Enjoying watching the episodes, I'm up to episode 11. Nothing better than watching someone else tackle a job before you try it yourself.
Good luck with yours - hope these vids are of use!
