This was amazing 🤩, I didn't want it to end. It was so helpful hearing him combine his knowledge of Joseph Smith to explain Words of Mormon. This is my first time hearing Dr. Dirkmaat. I am excited to go back and listen to his previous episodes.
Thank you, Dr. Dirkmaat. I have been a member my entire life and these teachings today blew my mind! It just continues to solidify my testimony of not only Joseph Smith but of the Book of Mormon. Love this podcast!
Absolutely a marvelous podcast. Best explanation of how the books where brought together that I have ever heard. Really enjoyed Brother Dirkmaat. Hope to hear from him soon. Thx.
I always come away uplifted and edified with a renewed desire to feast upon the words of Christ. So grateful for the time and effort you, your team and your guests put into these wonderful discussions!! God’s blessings on each of you!!
I appreciate how happy Dr. Dirkmaat is and how it infuses his study of the Book of Mormon. If the gospel doesn't make us happy, then we are missing something important. Thank you so much for the church history insight.
I am so grateful for your service every time I listen to this podcast. It truly is a weekly blessing. Thank you all for giving of your knowledge, time and spirit to bless so many.
Thank you for this week's wonderful episode! I have had something similar happen in my life occur recently that reminded me not to worry and let God take care of the details! It is such a wonderful feeling, especially in these trying times! I love watching your podcasts every week, plus your guests are always phenomenal!❤❤❤
This was absolutely wonderful! You’ve strengthened my testimony of the Book of Mormon, how it came about in Heavenly Father’s plan and what the Book of Mormon prophets and our dear prophet Joseph Smith went through for an eternal plan! Thank you for all of the details!
Anyone else wondering what other little gems you’ve missed on your way to the next chapter or book? Until today I thought Words of Mormon was just a longer piece of administrative information between Omni and Mosiah. I’m embarrassed to admit that I usually skip it. 🤦♀️So glad I got to hear this message.
This was an absolute joy to participate in. I love Dr. Dirkmaat. I love the chance to laugh out loud as I learn more about the gospel. You three make a great team. I love the love and joy of the gospel that comes through as you all teach. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I loved this week’s podcast! It brought so much clarity to my mind not only as to how Mormon’s words fit into the other books but also how Joseph Smith’s experience tied into what occurred 2000 plus years earlier. I loved what Brother Dirkmaat brought into this discussion and his enthusiasm for the history both in ancient days and in modern day. He helped me understand this all so well and all three of you reminded us that the Lord truly is in charge and always has been!
Gerrit is just a happy guy. The smiles throughout the entire episode were great to watch. This is the first episode I have viewed on RUclips as I have listened on Spotify up until now. I wish I would have watched sooner as there is a lot you can gain from seeing the person who is speaking to you.
Thank you so much for your inspiring podcast. It has blessed me and although I have read the Book of Mormon dozens of times, I always learn something new and feel the Spirit. Thanks for your time, effort and sharing your knowledge and testimonies. Sincerely, Sister Trimble
I don't know how many goosebump moments that I've had on this episode. Thank you so much guys! I relate so much to the story of Joseph Smith ad the records and how the Lord had made a plan way before hand. I love how Dr Gerrit J. Dirkmaat explained it though, he unlocked other principles in that story that I never really thought about! Wow!
I have a question if I might ask. How do we know that Enos was maybe not converted? I look at his story much the same as others that have been called to leadership positions. I think I would be much the same as them. But Isaiah, Moses, and I think Enoch did similar things when called. They felt they were unworthy and had to be told they were forgiven or given help from others to help them feel good enough to accomplish the task the Lord had given them. Many went to a place where they could be alone with their thoughts and to pray. Can I give grace to Enos and feel that he was a righteous man but just felt unworthy the same as any of us probably would? I love your podcast and would NEVER want to question anything because I know that yours and the guest you have known so much more than I could ever know. I am so grateful for your podcast. It has been my source, along with others that have brought the scriptures alive for me. I think everyone probably feels much the same as I do. The Come Follow Me program and COVID have been wonderful because they have given us programs such as this. THANK YOU FOR ALL your episodes. 😊😊😊❤❤
Well, I'm just going WOW! Thanks for such great teaching and the wonderful Spirit I have felt! I really needed this today and God answered my prayer through the three of you.
Wow! So enjoyed the dialogue between the three of you! Dr. Dirkmaat, would have been my favourite gospel instructor ever while attending BYU. Love his style and intellect, matches well with the two of you, Hank and John.
So informative and inspiring! Thank you all. Just a small correction--there were actually believers and supporters besides Joseph's family and Martin Harris, namely all the extended Knight family. The Knights were the second family in the church. The Whitmers were the THIRD family in the church (until the Missouri disaffection). With full appreciation of the Whimers, the Knights stayed the course and never faltered.
Forgive me for my short memory, but in the introduction part of the Book of Mormon I thought you said Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon in less than 3 months. Then Dr. Dirkmaat said several times it took many months or months and months. Thank you for this podcast. I have NEVER felt edification in MY study of the Book of Mormon as I have this year following along with you. Thank you.
This was great! What he talked about put so many things into perspective for me. Also, it's nice to put a name to the face that I have heard about from my husband who is his 1st cousin. I've never met Dr. Dirkmaat in person but now I kind of have over this podcast! Thank you for this episode!
I love this! And of course Mormon loves these extra plates of Nephi that he has found. He is a direct descendant of this line of prophets. It's like reading grandpa's journal.
Brilliant episode, as ever...but more so! Words of Mormon 1:7, along with Esther 4:14, has long had a very deep and personal resonance/meaning for me. I also deeply appreciated Gerrit's explanation of the predicament Joseph (and Martin actually) found himself in...at least as far as he perceived; I have even more sympathy!! And...I still laugh about Gerrit's story from That Episode 😂😂😂
Thank you do much for this. What a powerful testimony! It just occurred to me as I was listening that maybe part of the reason for not revealing to Nephi nor to Mormon the why they had to add that plates was so that the adversary would not know it as well. Wondering how this also applies for us as we sometimes are not giving some explanation yet for our own good.
One of my favorite episodes is the D&C year section 60-62 when Gerrit tells his fast and testimony meeting story. Here is a question. The manuscripts 116 pages are stolen. In Joseph's revelation in section 10 about King Benjamin almost no one on earth knows who King Benjamin is. Do we have an idea of how many people know who King Benjamin is? I mean how many people have read anything from his translation so far? When Joseph starts translating again. Did he start with Mosiah and ends with Words of Mormon from the small plates?
If we had the lost pages, the book of Mormon would add around 145 of today's pages. Think of that. And the internet says $3000 in 1830 is worth $101k today. 😮
It actually isn't true that Martin Harris was the only one who believed Joseph Smith besides his family at the time of the lost pages. Joseph Knight and his family and Josiah Stowell were great supporters of him and the work and gave up their time and money and food and good name to do so.
This was amazing 🤩, I didn't want it to end. It was so helpful hearing him combine his knowledge of Joseph Smith to explain Words of Mormon. This is my first time hearing Dr. Dirkmaat. I am excited to go back and listen to his previous episodes.
Oh my goodness ! The best explanation of the lost 116 pages and Joseph Smith I've ever heard
I was thinking the exact same thing. Truly puts everything in context of what it must have been like for Joseph too. I was riveted.
Thank you, Dr. Dirkmaat. I have been a member my entire life and these teachings today blew my mind! It just continues to solidify my testimony of not only Joseph Smith but of the Book of Mormon. Love this podcast!
Thank you for having Dr. Dirkmaat on your podcast. This was like having the honor of sitting in a BYU religion class and I loved it!!
I agree!

Loved the whole thing. Thanks
Wow. I have never fully appreciated the s section until told by Prof. Dirkmaat. My soul felt what he said.
You are that person for me today. Thank you all.
This episode has been very powerful. For reminding me that the Lord is in control, I don't have to. Thank you very much for sharing.

Wonderful session - so grateful for this explanation - makes this portion in the Book of Mormon so clear now. Thank you.
Please have Dr. Dirkmaat on more often!
Wonderful! The 30,000+ that only heard the first part of this podcast missed out.

try reading the lost 116 pages by Don Bradley it is a great exploration of the history and possible content of the pages.

Words of Mormon; Spoiler Alert - Jesus came.
Don't ruin it!! 😂
