  • This piece was composed in 1834 and is therefore one of the earlier romantic pieces on this channel. The tempo of Moderatissimo is a quirk we don't see often in piano music.
    Dobrzyński (1807-1867) was a Polish pianist and composer. He was the son of Ignacy Dobrzyński, the brother of Edward Dobrzyński, and the father of Bronisław Dobrzyński.
    He first studied music with his father Ignacy, a violinist, composer and music director. Beginning in 1825 he studied in Warsaw with Józef Elsner, at first privately, then in 1826-28 at the Warsaw Conservatory, where he was a classmate of Frédéric Chopin.
    In 1835, he won second prize in a composition competition for his Symphony No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 15. This symphony was later called "Symphony in the Characteristic Spirit of Polish Music" and movements were conducted by Felix Mendelssohn. In 1845 Dobrzyński toured Germany as a soloist and also conducted operas and concerts.
    In 1857 he founded "Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński's Polish Orchestra" (Orkiestra Polska Ignacego Feliksa Dobrzyńskiego), which comprised leading members of the orchestra of Warsaw's Grand Theatre. In 1858-60 he participated in a committee established to found a Music Institute. He also became a member of the Lwów Music Society.

    In 1835 Chopin was about to start his maturity period. Nocturnes op 27 are dated 1836. Just to put Dobrzynski beautiful piece into the right context and give him credit about how independently on his more famous colleague he had obtained a robust and mature language

      We have the same brain... i also immediately thought of the context in the sense of what Chopin did at that time.. but i didn't look it up.. thanks for doing that 👍

      They are very similar to some of the nocturnes by John Field who lived 1782-1837. In particular the nocturne in C minor from 1812.

      Yes but Chopin had already written his E minor and C# minor nocturnes in 1830 and then published 5 more (Op.9 and Op15) in 1832-33 so it's possible Dobrzynski was aware of them (and the C minor nocturne from fields that @randomusername248 mentions, which has a similar left hand)

      А при чём здесь ор.27 Шопена? Ведь были уже ноктюрны ор.9 и 15!Поэтому ни о какой самостоятельности Добржиньского речь не идёт,а речь идёт о подтасовке фактов в пользу мало самостоятельного автора,занимающего достойное его место в истории музыки( где-то на задворках).

    5th class music. Waste of time.

    • @michieldemarey
      @michieldemarey 2 года назад

      @Miraak themes are so uninspired, soulless - it sounds like a study of composition that is not ready. Frankly, I improvised better Nocturnes when I was 12. The genius of Chopin his Nocturnes is like magic and no other composer can project this sentiment and intensity.

    • @michieldemarey
      @michieldemarey 2 года назад

      @Miraak that's the problem: thinking. Music is about feeling. Chopin spoke the language of the universe. "Nocturne" is just a word, not a dance, musical form like a sonata, it is something more abstract and Chopin knew exactly what to do with it. Field's "opinion" on Chopin is just disgusting and ridiculous. I guess that Field had similar comments on Liszt's Nocturnes then.
      - good that not everyone shares my opinion.
