- An absolutely MASSIVE thank you to Joe Silvestri, who was kind enough to allow his father's 8mm home movie to get professionally rescanned into 4K!
I am proud to unveil this brand new professional transfer of one of the best films shot at Candlestick Park on August 29th, 1966. Although Joe posted an original scan of this film in 2018, and numerous attempts were made to clean up the picture, this has been freshly retransferred from the original film reel. I am very happy to have made this happen, as this is very historically significant footage!
I have made sure to sync this footage to the Tony Barrow tape recording made of this show. I have ensured the audio matches as well as possible with the video, which was mostly simple as Joe’s father captured some very long shots. For the introductory walk-on, I have used the available real audio from a recently surfaced newsreel, as well as audio from both Memphis recordings (as the Barrow tape does not capture this moment). For the last second of Long Tall Sally, I have used the audio from Maple Leaf Gardens.
A major thanks to Nicki Coyle at the Negative Space for her excellent work in scanning the film, who’s state-of-the-art equipment allowed for this to receive the best quality scan possible.
Lastly, a huge thanks to Nuff @ThePFRG for color correcting this footage, and truly bringing it to life!

Glad to have helped with this one again! The new scan is beautiful. Nicki Coyle always does the best job in the business without a doubt. This only cost $20 for the scan!
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for cleaning this one up. People who shot these Super 8 movies back then must have been too exited to realize that what they were filming had to make MUSICAL SENSE. Instead they filmed half a verse here and then half a chorus there, then they might skip the bridge... then film a few more words, and then on to the next song. Some 58 years later those people must be kicking themselves up the bum for not properly filming HISTORY. If they would have only focused on filming ONE [1] song they would have had something usable; the 3.5 min. film cartridge would have gotten it all.
By the way, Ronnie Howard led everyone on about how he intended to 'clean up and show lots of rare Super 8 films and other footage from fans and put it in his Beatles Documentary, "Eight Days A Week"; sadly, none of it ever appeared. With the technology available today they could have easily shown "Australia 1964" "Paris 1965" "The Hollywood Bowl 1964" "Germany 1966" "Japan 1966"...Needless to say, I was very disappointed after seeing his film.
I agree with your statements- Beatles Candelstick footage 1966. Now imagine if these fans had any idea this was the Beatles final concert! We might not have gotten any footage from them due to dropping their 8mm cameras to the ground!
Amazing quality! This concert must be the most filmed concert of the tour. So many fans and news stations filming it.
That was a 2 for the price of 1 ticket: a Beatles concert and a tackle football game in the outfield. How crazy that was for them. 😮
GORGEOUS quality
looks great! pretty green grass!
This is gonna be great
Love George's groovy lead fills towards the end of Rock & Roll Music. He probably thought "it's the last time I'll ever have to play this one, might as well have fun with it"
TOTALLY AWESOMEE!!
Incredible! Look at all those kids getting on the field?
Maple Leaf, Floral Hall and now this.. great year! Good job!
incredible quality! defenitely zoo atmoshere!
beautiful work!
Perfektní ❤ Ti fanoušci byli pěkně divocí 😅 Já se pak klukům vůbec nedivím, že radši skončili s koncertováním, měli toho už plné zuby,k naší velké škodě,ale chápu je ✌️
Just FANTASTIC!!! Thank you very much for sharing these gems.
So very appreciated...thank you!!
Security was tight at every stairwell, so when two drunk guys said they'd catch us, my friend Kathy and I jumped off the top deck and made it onto the field, but I've never seen footage of her or me out there. Wish I could remember which song they were singing. I was hauled away by 4 security guards, one on each limb. 🤣
No wonder they stopped touring..it's insanity there.
It's been a year, and I still haven't gotten the complete 15-minute film with the Barry Hood footage like I requested.
I can't wait to see this film.
It's amazing!!! Thanks from Venezuela. ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
If only they had Marshall Amps
Then they'd have heard only the guitars. How about a decent p.a.?
¡GENIAL!
Even if there is only less than a second im glass long tall sally got footage
Will a version with the original colours eventually be posted?
Of course, I always provide raw scans!
