- Hey everyone back with more Scrap Mechanic Survival! Today Kosmo and I are trying to answer the question of which is faster, a truck or a helicopter? In this video we are competing in a gathering race challenge and swapping halfway to see if we can determine the fastest way to get things from around the map! @darealkosmo

So in case people missed the answer to the question; it took the same time to get component kits via truck or helicopter.
The final tally for heli was 30 + 18 = 48
The final tally for truck was 32 + 16 = 48
I'm glad someone did the math because I honestly forgot to even check I was just happy to have thrusters finally.
Kan’s final tally was 62
Kosmo’s final tally was 32
I’d say Kan wiped the floor with this one. Kinda makes up for the gold chest lick from last round
The entire test is pointless because "component kits collected in 15 minutes" is way too small a sample size for this. The RNG had a bigger effect on the outcome than the speed of the vehicles used. It was amusing, sure, but not very useful.
If anything "buildings cleared in a day" would have been a better metric, though still pretty rough because of different layouts.

I have always thought the totebots were part of an intelligent sorting system. I imagine a line of them, dangling from the wires on top of their heads, the legs grabbing produce as it goes by and placing it on other production lines or into packing crates. Then the bots rose up to throw of the yoke of their oppressors and freeing the totebots by cutting the wires letting them free. Potentially even cut by the cable bots now that we know they exist. Anyways that is just what I have always thought.

i definetly agree with this. the electric whip on top of their heads is actualy a sparking cable and the way they kinda jump around makes it pretty clear that those legs are not made for walking.
@You're Gonna Hate This I think this may have been an attempt at a burn, not really sure though. I was referencing tote the verb. To tote, the act of moving, carrying or conveying and that is were I think your misunderstanding is coming from. I have never really seen people carrying around the small hard surfaced boxes that you mention, and if you are talking about tote as an object that is actually a bag with two equal length long handles. I think you got confused and thought that since someone named something a tote something or other that was the actual name of the product, not a verb co-opted as part of a brand name. I like Kan because he is an entertaining content creator who often makes me laugh. I don't know what is happening in your life to get you so triggered about whatever it is that triggered you, but I am sorry for whatever it was and hope you move forward and try to have a better day.
Personally i think they are for playing music/radio. That whip is used as an antenna and the head acts like a speaker

first one to start a survival series with the whole scrap crew using the same survival world, but having episodes where they interact with each other.
They should make it so the level 1 thruster has the same power as the level 5, but with more fuel consumption. That way, 50 kits for one thruster is optional if they need to last longer with less weight for the fuel.
25:15 maybe they're more like Pest Control or a weird version of a scarecrow because the whip Lake thing does Flicker and makes light at the top which does scare animals specifically Birds?
Possibly a herding animal too, it's very common to see dogs working with cows and other farm animals.
absolutely not. the whip is actualy a cut cable. you can even see two individual copper wires wraped in colored rubber poking from the top. they were likely some kind of crane bot hanging from the celling and using their legs to grab stuff on the ground.
*Competition (+unboxing idea):*
Kosmo opens a green box.
You both then need to build something that is either esthetically, or conceptually, based off of what the new clothes was about. 5 minutes on the clock per build.
Example: Control Freak T-shirt = a random statue for the base with a bunch of spinny stuff.
I Heart Cow = robot cow thing on wheels.
Just dumb nothing art projects like that where you can make them really fast. Something you can take a photo of and hang on the fridge kind of dumb.
You USED to be able to buy component kits, but they removed it pretty much immediately after release. ScrapMan’s original survival series shows 5 of them available for 5 pineapples, 5 broccoli, and one more unknown trade.

Next episode should be one part Kosmo unboxing common clothes and the rest cleaning up haybot arms/spines. Putting a refinery and collector on each truck would speed it up to clear the arms from the ground level
25:17 - Tape Bots work in warehouses to seal packages and boxes for shipment.
You can find wrapping stations with rolls of bobble wrap and empty cardboard boxes.
Totebots , I would guess were originally attached to a vehicle of some kind and used to transport materials. Hence the name 'tote' meaning to carry.
This hypothesis is supported by both name and the fact that the end of the cable on their head is appears to be broken and sparking, as if something were torn off.
Other Totebots, such as upcoming Red totebot, may be specialized function such as transporting explosives. Under this theory, they would be painted different colors so as to easily designate function.
Haybots - probably intended to rake/clear chaff and hay from the fields.
Farmbot/Red bot - most likely used to clear trees and boulders before plowing the land. Although this does not explain their chemical launcher at this time.
scythe for harvesting + gun was used for fertilizing probably
+ drill for making holes for larger seeds
the chemical is probably pesticide

Since you left all the robot spines/arms behind how about a race to collect them and refine then including new kills.
I think the tote bots pickup and move the crates around. The "whip" on the top sparks when it moves around so I think it's an electrical cable that tethered them to something and they are the animated claw from the claw machine.
I think Totebots are like an alarm system. The whip on top wasn't supposed to be a whip but they use it as one.
I think that the totebots were for communication, the whip they have is an antenna, so I think that their purpose was to relay to the human operators, the progress.

I now have about 60 hrs in Scrap Mechanic and I can verify that you ALWAYS NEED MORE COMPONENT KITS!!!
put the dressbot on the back of a truck, fill the truck with greenboxes, drive around and clear buildings while cosmo dresses, and make a montage of cosmo posing in front of different buildings in his new clothes.
So this isn't really that much of a gathering competition as it is a race, I was just wondering if a future video might contain you two trying to build a land vehicle (anything that's necessary to go over obstacles such as mountains or water) ((NO THRUSTERS))
The point of the race is to get to the other side of the map one corner to the other, HOWEVER you are not allowed to just pass through the middle going diagonal, you're meant to choose one side, left or right. That way you might also be able to figure out some stuff that can help you with future vehicles, who knows! Just a fun idea I've been thinking about since episode 38, allthough I haven't mentioned it considering I might not even pop up for you.. anyway! thank you for the video and have a good day
logging vs mining, both of you take 10 minutes to do both tasks you're allowed 3 collecters and 1 refiner each, put it in the back of your trucks or something. who ever can collect more resources faster gets the gold box.
Just for fun. In the next co-op survival, make an automated sawmill and a truck to transport all the tree trunks. or just the mill.

I think the tote bots were for a variety of things.
We have totebot heads for communication with humans.
They could explore the planet, because they can swim, and the cable is an antenna relaying data of the surrounding world.
They could transport goods, because, again, swimming. Also, they can carry things-explosive tote bots. They were meant to carry equipment. The cable/antenna could be replaced by various attachments.
They could till the soil-look at their feet.
They could herd cows with whips.
They seem to be a lesser version of the Farmbot.
Yes I'm fairly sure the totebot's main purpose was to carry things, that's what a tote does and the red totebots we've seen in devblogs carry explosives. Cable bots seem like they're clearly for wire repair / management in my opinion. Explosive tape is a real thing used in real life but I'm not sure what they would use it for in the warehouse.
Hey Kan I have an idea for a component kit race and it goes like what I’m about to say, you guys could have a challenge where you build vehicles with maybe something like you only get 50 blocks to use or something on the Sense of have like a challenge.
The Totebots are cheap exploration bots to find fertile, unclaimed land that can be used for farming. It makes sense to have exploration bots to find better farmland as it is better to have already fertile dirt rather than using fertilizer.
Fant mod you have 2 recipes to make component kits AND you can trade for them - just sayin :D

Yes, but this series is VANILLA ONLY, Kan and Cosmo MIGHT do modded, but it is very UNLIKELY

I think the tote bot was for the cows, however not for evil reasons. Cows respond to music (note that the tote bot heads can be used to make music) and the whips could have been the robot's antenna
You should see how many component kits from all the building on the map (excluding scrap city because it takes so long to go through all those buildings)
yo kAN! if you put low friction materials under the boat, such as sawblades, you will be able to drive it on land as well, can be useful if you need to traverse a small bit of land to get from the ocean to some lake near the shore or something! :D

The totebots plant the seeds, and the herd the cows. They bassically poop out seeds, and the ele trical whip on thier heads are for herding cows.
I like going to warehouses I have cleared. The bots seem to take forever to respawn, but the chests respawn after something like 5 days. I just go to the roofs of warehouses and go to the loot room for the 5 gold chests. I do agree the thrusters are FAR too expensive. I place beacons on all the warehouses and spawn points.
Kan Phentonix will be wanting to hire you for sounds with those mighty cat pews! Better send them an audition!
Also why not take a collector on the back of the truck to pick up all the hay bot BACKS? then you are not wasting time shaving your backs and you can toss them into the grinder when you get back to base.

Yooo dude I have idea for your survival make gas stations in some places in the roads in the world so when you almost get your fuel almost gone and gives you more storage cause you don't need to carry fuelssss in the chest

I'm not certain, but I don't think gold crates respawn on on buildings. I think you have a very high chance of getting one on your first visit to a building, but I don't remember ever seeing one respawn on a previously visited building.

The green bots do just whip the cows because cattle farmers use electric cow prods to horde them in to pens or barns at least that’s what I think
im fairly sure the drill on the hay bot is for drilling wells to build arrogation systems
The toet bots are for dealing with wocs that get away from the pack. Basically those dogs
Kan gaming I think it was funny when you made your scrap mechanic character looking like it was getting all angry and cranky but I really do think you and kosmo is a really good team in scrap mechanic but that one video when you got farmhand pants with some type of thing in the back pocket was intresting but when kosmo knocked you off the tree fort was hilarious
My theory on the totebots (is that how u spell it?) is that they were either there to get the cattle going or as signal bots because they got that light lookin thing on the end of their whip thing. I think they possibly could have been used to set tasks for specific groups of other bots or such and used their light thingy to send messages or commands. That or returning to the idea of using it as a whip to herd wocs.
That was exactly what I was wondering.

Wait, I thought that the purpose of Totebots was obvious?
They would have carried stuff in the warehouses... The cable/whip would have been how they hung from a longer cable and crane in the warehouse, and then grab stuff with their legs (like a skill tester game).
The tote bot could be cattle herders
The drill on the big red guys would just be the help get through rocks and put holes and rocks to put stuff into it like a hook into it so they can lift it up cuz then farming giant rocks are problematic because they can calmly block you from digging holes in the fields or plowing parts of a field they could have been drilling out the rocks

Whenever they need component kits... kAN should always go out to collect them 😀

If you think about it, you can use their heads as sound blocks so they probably would make a noise to scare any creatures away from the food

Id love to see a small thruster that takes half the amount of component kits and half the amount of gas consumption i feel like thatd be slightly better for the helicopter but the boat probably still needs the regular ones theres a bunch of ideas scrap mechanic could adopt to make survival better and i hope chapter 2 implements even just a 10th of those ideas
When Kan was using the truck, he did cheat because he got 2 kits from a chest behind a big sign... otherwise his score was the same when he used both the helicopter and the truck.

On the subject of the purpose of the bots, Totebot heads make noise, right? Maybe they were mobile PA systems or something.

I think u guys should make free barring claws and try to pick up a Terrent and then hook to the ground and try to blow up the others explosive
The tote-bots look like there whip is damaged/broken so they could have been made to communicate with / control the other bots but got damaged and now all the bots are going haywire and everyone has ether left the plant or been captured by the bots.
I have an entire story In my mind but I don’t want to make a really long message so I’ll leave you with the most important stuff.

The tope bot (idk how its writen Im not english) has a whip for whipping the wheat to get the grain out of it back in the days the had to smack it to get the grain out as fast as possible
