John and Mark on great form for this one, witty lines rolling off both of them... you'd think it was scripted. "Jasper! It's a wasp! Where have you been? Punch the air! Ooooommmppphhhhh!
You see this was back when BBC was into taking huge risks that paid off by keeping it fresh. They would never have people like Mark Radcliffe on there today.
alvaskins Yeah, no fallings out. I think when they left Radio 1 it was more of a, "been there, done that..." kind of thing. Both continue to have successful careers. Lard, especially, was very much "the fool", and Riley's since moved on to be a "serious" DJ in his own right. I can see why he wouldn't be fussed about reviving Mark 'n' Lard dynamic.
Has Kermode's voice dropped an octave since back then? A semi quaver maybe? Half a wotsit? You may be unaware of my knowledge of maize, based, snacks. *Not to be confused with "maze, based, snacks". That original idea I had failed with the first storm of the season, sadly.
Heh Burp - answer me a popular pub quiz question mate! Did you ever roger Sally Field? And if not, why not? She was hot stuff. Da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Captain Chaos here! Been a cop long?

I only just now realised that John Shuttleworth and Jilted John are the same.
Recorded and put on cd for my dad's 1998 merc 6 cd tray. Good luck Mark's !!
Mart Bay 6 track surely, or maybe cassette if it's Chrome with Dolby, but CD ? Ooooofft! Too fancy, isn't it. No.
With Dolby? Ooooomph! No! That would only work on cassette tape, and ensure that it is Chrome for maximum fidelity.
I love Shuttleworth. And kudos for mentioning Judie Tzuke!
Wonder if he got a tour jacket?
John Shuttleworth was on Radio4, much humour originated there, like Alan Partridge.
Brilliant :)
Wish Radcliffe would get back together with Lard again. Classic radio!
sadlyi don't think that will ever happen
worzel gummidge
Why is that, did they fall out?
no they remain the best of from and still work for bbc 6 music but I don't think lard is too keen on a a reuniuon

that s possibly the best radio show ever, fat larry white and the irish character were hilarious .
I think your updates are increasingly hilarious. Keep the quality items coming, r'kid. Any more Billy Bollockchops related shenanigans perhaps?

Hilarious! I always keep my Chris Rea cassette tapes under lock and key! Lol!
John Shuttleworth with his Yamaha reminds me of Kim's dad
“ ah wiz ur old peculiar u wur ma London pride”, nice one
Kermode nearly giving the game away there… “do you know Gra- uh….do you know John?”
