Why plant trees close together? | Peepal Baba

  • Many horticulturists often say that trees should be planted at a distance from each other. But trees should be planted close together. Planting trees close together has several benefits. The trees form an intense network of roots underneath the soil and share water and nutrients with each other. This helps all the plants to share resources and grow.
Give Me Trees Trust has planted more than 20 million trees all across the country. It was founded by Peepal Baba, who is one of the most renowned environmentalists in the country. Give Me Trees has more than 7000 volunteers throughout the country.
Peepal Baba and Give Me Trees have been featured in Hindustan TImes, Your Story, Zee News and other media channels. Peepal Baba is the recipient of many national awards, including the Unsung Heroes Award, presented to him by John Abraham.

I agree with your simple knowledge sir. The more you make knowledge complex, the more you scare away people from participating. In our native village, there is a practice that land owners call sheep herders to their land. They ask them to keep 100sheep in their land for 24hrs. The sheep roam and defecate in their land, providing natural manure. Locals also say that body warmth also benefits land when sheep sit together on their land. They say that earthworms are attracted to sheep urine. For this , farmers pay sheep herders 10kgs rice.. this is an ancient practice in Punjab villages. So simple concept, what comes from the earth must go back in it. Sadly our ancient practices are being lost in name of being modern.
I like your vids a lot. Such simple concepts.

That's a very nice piece of information Mayank! I feel that the way to reverse the damage to the environment is to go back to the basics - good air, good water, good soil. Our ancient India is full of wisdom. We should all learn from how ancient Indians used to live their lives. It was such a scientific and logical way of living - taking care of all aspects of our ecosystem.

very true sir . I planted 3 jamun plants , 2 orange saplings and 3 khajur saplings in one pot and they are doing great . Pot is like a microverse . The pot has large no. of earthworms and other small insects and I throw our vegetable peels and fruit seeds in pot , it keeps soil always humid and top layer of soil is always rich in minerals . Once I removed my one jamun plant from this pot and shifted it in another pot away from other plants so that it can grow properly but opposite happened the growth of this jamun plant was slower than other plants and new leaves did not grow at the time when leaves were growing in other jamun plants . I am student studying in class 11th . I don't have much knowledge about caring and growing of plants . I have planted many tree saplings( by seeds left after eating fruits) since last two years but only a few of them have survived . At present tree saplings planted by me that are alive are mango , palm (seeds grew after 1 year of sowing), lemon , imli, jamun and pomegranate . I evendon't have much time to take care of them .

I agree with you people baba the reason is i have travelled in dense african forests wherein Allah the Supreme Creator has never given any spacings. One could scarcely see the sky in the jungle. Tall trees above, coffee shrubs, banana trees, the mangoes with tomatoes and brinjals below with maatt bhaji as weeds all by natural growth. They grow as if they are Relatives and talk to each other as we do. I really belive your non spacing type of plantations.
