The psgs true view pictures really bring out the scratches on the cleaned coins. It was hard for me to see that when you were holding them, so don’t be too hard on yourself!
Man, awesome coins!!! Anytime you can get several DMPL's....that's awesome! The DMPL's on the CC coins has got to add tremendous value!! I would hold on to those long-term!
On my submission videos I have started guessing a grade lower, but these returns were disheartening. About 2 grades below where I was expecting. Pretty sad. But I mean, still over $4,000 in coins. I sure don’t have that into them.
I personally feel like they have hired a lot of new people. I was told that by one of there reps as well. I think they didn’t get good enough training either. I’ll have a video next weekend showing a terrible amount of mistakes they made on a recent order of mine.
On some of them. After the video I looked through them closer and I found some weren’t what I thought. Others were vams but PCGS didn’t recognize the variety. But On about 4 or 5 of them they should have been attributed.

Hi Rocky's Ramblings! Nice Morgan Silver Dollar graded coin unboxing! 😎 Coin grading can be tough, and it's still taking some time to get our coins back, but hang in there!
This video is near and dear to my heart, as I've been through this exercise myself. I would not go to another grading company (unless it was NGC). If my math is right, it looks like you just about broke even. When I was having my Morgans graded, I was happy if I could get an MS grade, and of course not details or cleaned (as those are harder to spot). If it helps, my Morgans have gone up significantly since I had them graded just a couple of years ago! 😎
Going on what I paid for them I actually more than doubled my money. But the initial unboxing can always be rough when it doesn’t reach expectations. I know in the long run, as you said, the prices will go up. Just gotta sit and wait!
@@rockysramblings Wow, if you doubled your money, you did great! You should give yourself some credit, you're not an experienced coin grader (yet)! If at first I don't get the grade I want, I'll then trade it up! The best part is you've got an investment! 😎
Nice to see so many tries and congratulations on your DMPL’s I actually have a rare DMPL it’s a PCGS Doily holder 1883 CC Morgan that graded MS-65-DMPL
@@rockysramblings I’ll send you a link to the video when I’m on the computer it’s a good looker and very rare because of that holder it may even be a top pop for those holders
You got them all in slabs, and that ‘85-O is sweet. And there is a lot to learn here. Overall, you did make progress Rocky! It seems like human nature to be biased in favor of the things we value. (Think about parents and kids- Parent: “Isn’t she so beautiful and smart!?” Me: “Looks like a goblin!”) It seems like PCGS’s nature to seek out any small imperfection to downgrade. Look at it this way: You aren’t a professional, yet your grades are in the ballpark! Looking forward to the next one.
Yeah it’s disappointing when initially opened but I still more than doubled my investment. And over time they’ll only increase in value from there. Gotta look on the bright side
@@rockysramblings Oh, and I forgot to mention: To see how I would do, I paused and graded them too during your submission video. I routinely graded them 2 pts lower than you, and in general they came in between your grade and mine. So yeah- I can’t predict them either!
When you submit a coin for an attribution you have to fill that out on the form right? They wont automatically put it on like, I think, anacs does right?
I haven’t used ANACS yet but I’m gonna send some in soon. If you want PCGS to check for attributions you just put a check in the category on the form. I’ve never had to explain which attribution. They always just found it if it had one they recognized. I went through these after the video and some I should have examined closer, some had a variety but it wasn’t one PCGS recognized but there were about 3-4 that should have been attributed. So I get to make some calls on Monday lol I have a video coming next weekend that has 7 PCGS mistakes out of a 35 coin submission. It’s pretty bad. Something is going on with PCGS

From my understanding, once it's been deemed "DETAILS" any other sub category of grade is out the window. Also, any coin outside of a mint state grade will not receive the PL or DMPL designation. Either way, beautiful selection of coins. Once the DMPL chase begins, it's hard to resist looking for them.
I wasn’t sure if they would designate anything other than MS as PL or DMPL, so thanks for that info. I have received cleaned coins with varieties on them but idk if that was a fluke cuz it doesn’t seem like they would put the effort in for that.
@@rockysramblings well that's certainly a plus that they do designate varieties on detailed coins. I've been wanting to ask....you've experienced a lot of grades lower than expected like I have. PCGs will not do PL or DMPL on cleaned coins nor circulated. So MS-60 and above only they will put PL or DMPL
