Wonderful. Thanks. Just read your great piece in The New Yorker on Macron, so I googled you and found this. Spent most of my adult life in Manhattan, and retired from paid work to live in Mexico. Studying the spanish language is my principal activity, but I recently added french for thirty minutes per day. A few decades ago I studied french in Lausanne, Switzerland for a month, and now my youngest daughter, who lives in Ottawa is have her first child (une fille) in November. Just yesterday she was sharing her plans to have her girl be bilingual.
The experience of embracing languages is fun, but as you described, also broadens one’s view of the world.
    Thanks again.
