Get them to lean forward and never backwards, ask them to breathe through there mouth and ask them to pinch there nose for 10 mins for pressure, if the nose is still bleeding, pinch your nose again for another 10 mins

Wendy is giving the instructions for Americans. She leaves off the part about calling an ambulance because an ambulance ride on the U.S. costs $600. And an Emergency Room visit costs $400 when you walk in the door.

You’ve got several options. If you can see the bleeding area which is usually the septum you can soak a cotton ball with Afrin and put it in there and then pinch the nose shut for like 10 minutes and that will like 99% of the time stop it. They also sell “merocel” type nasal packs that you insert and then spray afrin on to get them to expand

Nonsense ! pinching your nose is NOT the answer it is just MESSY ! What is BEST ?- find out which side (nostril) is bleeding and then press this against the septum,, ie the midle of your nose , I know because I have done it ! , This will let you to breath freely through the good nostril and is very comfortable,

you should just ask the person to lie down with their back straight and without the head being elevated and ask them to keep looking up .
Then ask them (or you yourself ) to apply pressure with there fingers on the part of the nose where you can feel the bone. [ just like when you plug your nose but put pressure where you feel the bone].
    Do this for 10 minutes.
Then take an ice cube , wrap it in a soft cloth and move it on the skin beside the part of the nose that is bleeding . You have to move the ice on the skin -starting from the end of the eyes till you reach the nostrils. Do this for 5 minutes , this freezes the blood and effectively stops the bleeding .
I am telling this from my personal experience since i myself have had many nosebleedings since i was 5 . So yeah this technique really helps.
