I love that I get to watch a new video each Sunday night before bed. I just love watching you with your family. Seeing you take pleasure in the little moments is just heart warming. I know you don't feature Adam much but I love watching him interact with the kids. You have a beautiful family.

My brother in law told me about sprinkling cinnamon into the soil before planting, lightly mixing it into the topmost layer. It does prevent gnats and fuzzy growths.

Thanks for sharing your week with us! :) In my home country, we're celebrating Pretzel Sunday today! On this day, women are given a pretzel as a sign of love. It's related to Easter but don't ask me how. Commonly, they're topped with toasted sliced almonds and filled with apricot jam. Thought I'd put it out there if any bakers want a challenge :)

You are such an inspiration even to this retired 70+ year old. Thank you for your videos. I wondered if you have considered seed saving? You mentioned not always having great harvests with your peppers. When you save the seeds of hierloom plants to grow the next year they become more and more acclimated to your specific growing conditions when you harvest from the best of each plant, providing better harvests each year.

We do some seed saving - a lot of flowers, herbs, and anything that ends up bolting too soon, like lettuce.

It's always a delight to see a new video from you on Sundays. I love watching little Benjamin when he is concentrating on something. I wonder what is going on in his mind? Gabriel is maturing so quickly, too; he is growing into a thoughtful young man. You have much to be proud of as parents.

They are all grown now and while they enjoy the foods, they haven't taken the time to learn the lessons just yet. Watching you with yours makes me really miss them when they were little like that. You're doing a spectacular job. One thing you will love after they are grown is that they will come visit and no matter if they know how to can or not...they'll always prefer Mom's!

I didn’t get to the wood layer but everything above was wonderful soil!

I once had a small tall living room which was all white, then I painted the ceiling and top 18 inches of the walls a beautiful strong lavender or violet. Loved it!!!! Felt so much better about that room, and colored or dark ceilings appear to lower the height of the room do it's more cozy. I did the same thing with apricot or peach in the dining room.

Lovely video, with the apple scraps by Grandfather made apple jelly. I know he hung it over night in muslin but it must have been boiled up or something so would still need to source a recipe. I know you waste nothing and I think even after you made the jelly there would still be chook food and of course you wouldn’t use off bits, they would be composted.

Hello, first time commenting here but have enjoyed watching for several months now. Thank you for all you do to share!
I'm not sure if you're interested in this idea, or someone else watching, but we have raised beds as well and did the wire in the bottom as you do.
But when setting up the last beds, we started laying the wire on the ground, secured it with landscaping pens until we set the bed down on top of it. We, then, pull the pins and trim just a little ways out from the bed.
For us, it was much easier and didn't seem to waste any more than trimming once put down inside.
Hopefully, this will be of help to someone!
Again, thank you! Going to try your bread 😊

Very good videos Jessica I really like your lazy bread recipe I will keep that and use it. Yes Ohio weather can be up and down like a roller coaster I remember when I was homeschooling a really ADHD child in the '90s we would have a lot of no school days or less school days on the days out to get the wiggles out. We did do good at making up time and doing some extra work on the days that glooming nasty. Doesn't look like you guys had any damage from any of the winds I hope not. Looks like a really good idea on the apple juice but my family doesn't seem to do that so I think I'm going to have to stick to the applesauce and maybe just overdo it occasionally. Maybe find something else that is similar. I find that those first cookouts on those days that pop up in the spring everybody will eat at least half again as much as they normally do just because everything tastes good to them. They are actually kind of special. I also keep certain meats to cook on the grill if possible or hold back some anyway. You do a really great job this monster peppers do sound like they would be great for stuffed peppers. Never had heard of that variety before. As much as I hate the coloration and the fact that is white I had a white pepper the name was Dove that was probably my biggest producer ever of peppers in my Ohio garden. I haven't been able to find it later I don't know if they have renamed it or hybridized it to something else. I always grew mild banana peppers never saw one just Mark banana peppers I know the girls used to snack on those straight from the garden practically and they were crazy prolific also but late in the year. Seems if I ever really wanted to put peppers and tomatoes with anything I needed to freeze them from the year prior because I was not getting enough in the year I was in and didn't have the room to plant more pepper plants when mine were crazy prolific late August September October and sometimes even later than that. I would just keep putting them in plastic bags to use them in the earlier sauces and things. With your freeze dryer and dehydrator which I didn't use either of at the time that would probably be easier.
