Everything ANKOR has released in the past year and few months, along with V.A.N. from Bad Omens and Poppy have all been the absolute best songs that have been created in a long time. I honestly haven't heard anything better in quite a while. Imo. Its such a relief and pleasure to hear such great music.
There's also Daedric, Future palace, The hellfreaks, Spirit box, and Harper.. All amazing bands/musicians lol.. The last one is around 12 or 13 and has done covers of Spirit box and Bring me the horizon lol...
Can we just take a moment too recognise how much of an incredible vocalist Jessie is, and also how incredible every single member of ankor is you guys are one of the most talented bunch of people this world has ever had in my opinion. It’s rare and extremely refreshing to find a newer band that has their own sound established and is making music that they love. Been a long time since I’ve been excited for a new band. You all should be proud of what you’re making, all that work is paying off.
Gotta say I’m loving this band rn for the same reasons I love spiritbox. Y’all are incorporating some really heavy metalcore screams and breakdowns with prisoner. But then a more melodic and clean vocal type song like oblivion. Love this shit honestly.
Exactly, I Love both bands !! Also in their latest releases (till now) outside of the music itself , the storytelling in The Fear of Fear for Spiritbox, and the Darkbeat Chapters (still ongoing) for Ankor, are just next level, the Music videos and the acting as well (with so many hints and looping and clues ....). I just LOVE IT !! and of course for the music they are both basically reinventing the metal genre, mixing styles, and again, I LOVE IT !!

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE LORE OF THE CHAPTERS! Ok I am choosing to put this comment here, as this is Chapter 3. And I believe, the most powerful of the 3 chapters, which I will explain. I really wanted to make a youtube video discussing the lore of the 3 chapters, but I don't know how to make videos nor do I have the resources to. I'm just a simple dude. BUT.. I wanted to comment here with what I have gathered watching these 3 videos numerous times and taking cues from both the lyrics, visual representations, and even the music itself. Now as a preface, art can always be (and is meant to be) interpreted different ways. This is merely my interpretation. Also trigger warning, this story deals with some very dark themes, murder, suicide, and depression. That being said, let's dive in. We start with Chapter 1, Darkbeat. This is obviously a story about a murder. Jessie, the vocalist, is also acting. She is playing the part of the main character in these stories. Quick footnote, her amazing vocal talent aside, it is equally impressive her acting skills. She says more with her facial expressions and body movements than any of you realize, especially considering that, let's be real, most of us don't know what the full lyrics are until we actually read them. So we are witnessing not only an amazing vocal performance, but an amazing acting performance from Jessie as well. Back to the story.. Darkbeat starts on a really great note. There is a fun energy to the story, a happy couple, in love and experiencing life. And this theme persists throughout the entire video, until the end, when things go horribly and tragically wrong. Also, because of this vibe, musically, this song leans heavily into EDM elements, which is intentional given it's title, "Darkbeat." Our happy couple trances through the video (pun intended), until one night, a random stranger murders the boyfriend, leaving Jessie's character completely heartbroken and destroyed. I won't linger long on Chapter 1. It's message and story are pretty clear. I believe the lyrics greatly are dealing with the aftermath of the shooting, and will transition directly into Chapter 2. In fact the opening lyrics are "No. It's your blood on my hands." Now, on to Chapter 2. This is a story about suicide. Or I will say as a caveat, attempted suicide. Musically, this song is the most feral of the 3. While it incorporates a little pop and hip hop it leans much heavier into the metal aspect of the band. The chorus starts with "I don’t want to be the one to forget It’s my blood that’s on my hands." I found this to be a very interesting lyric, considering in Darkbeat it was YOUR blood, and now it has changed to MY blood. And then it hit me.. what this band is doing BRILLIANTLY with the lyrics. The lyrics are dealing with the end of the videos. As Darkbeat's lyrics represented the aftermath of the shooting, Prisoners lyrics deal with the aftermath of a suicide attempt. And Jessie saying MY BLOOD is not an oversight.. it is intentional, and brilliant, story telling. The transition in pronouns is telling us that now it is her characters life who is in danger. And being as the threat of random shooter no longer exists, I can only assume that danger is coming from herself. Visually we see scenes of Jessie covered in blood, which I believe represent her not being able to get the murder out of her head. There are scenes of her trying to wash it off in the shower, but her facial expressions tell us she is unable to. Most of these blood scenes are shot in the shower. This is speaking to her mental state of guilt and grief. And then there are the scenes with her lying on the floor. Blood around her head, assumingly dead. BUT.. in one such scene, we see her arm twitch. Which tells us she is still alive. Now again logically breaking this down, and knowing what we know about Chapter 1, and her mental state to this point, I think it is safe to assume that she attempted suicide. The scenes we see with her on the floor represent this. Also interesting that the only lyrics put on screen are "Will I survive?" So Chapter 2 deals with a suicide attempt in the aftermath of a love one being murdered. Chapter 3. Oblivion. This is a story about depression. And boy does this hit hard. I'm a grown man that tears up EVERY TIME I watch this video, and I couldn't figure out why. Until I began to understand the story better. So Jessie's character survives her suicide attempt. And now she is living in depression. The lyrics are actually uplifting and hopeful. But here is where the acting gets brilliant. While she is singing these happy hopeful lyrics... look at her facial expressions. Anyone that knows anything about depression knows that many people hide theirs in smiles. We open with her and the band being in an open beautiful field, and the chorus keeps repeating "I'll be ok"... but the only lyrics put on screen are "Where do I belong?" During the course of the video, we see her on the couch, clutching a picture of her lost love, still racked with grief. There are scenes of her with a group of friends, casually and normally enjoying a social gathering, until we realize there is nobody actually at that table. There are a couple quick scenes of a pill overdose. Which I think represents her true suicide attempt. Which we see her wake up from in the hospital at the end of the video. Interestingly, right before it goes to that scene, it flashes through a quick montage of scenes that include the OD, as well as scenes from Prisoner of her in the shower covered in blood then on the floor. I believe that was put there intentionally to tie in the imagery of her suicide attempt. As for the ending of the video, I think it loops to the beginning. The ending is her waking up from her suicide attempt, which takes us to the opening of the video in the field. And then the rest of the video deals with that depression. Well, maybe I nailed it, maybe I could not be more wrong. What I can say for sure though is that this band is AMAZING. The full package. Great music, great visuals, interesting story telling, and I gotta say, it feels really good to find a band I can actually be a FAN of. I worked most of my life in the music industry, and so I have heard it all, which tends to make me a bit skeptical when it comes to bands and music. Especially new bands, just because everything has been done and you will always be compared to somebody else. Even this band cannot escape those comparisons. But I think they stand quite well on their own 2 feet. And that is the highest compliment that I can give to a band. Hope you guys enjoyed this lore breakdown, and I look forward to you all telling me why I am wrong in the replies to this comment. Cheers. EDIT.. forgot to say this but I am really looking forward to see where Chapter 4 takes this story.

You practically nailed all our intentions and messages here, although all the fields and landscapes in Oblivion can be also interpreted as her journey through a coma after her suicide attempt. She doesn't know what she is doing or where she is, the only thing that she knows is that she doesn't belong there. She knows life is beautiful and she knows that there's still people to fight for... Until she realizes that she is in Oblivion. A place between life and death. Now she remembers everything, she wants to come back with her people before her time is over, so she starts "running to them"... Until she finally wakes up in the hospital bed. Ready for a new life, ready for a new beginning... Or not.💙 (to be continued soon)

I'm embarrassed to say this but I was getting burnt out. I've literally seen well over a thousand live shows in my lifetime and I wanted to do something more "normal" with my life. Which I am doing, with great success to my mental health. But it feels SO good to be a fan of something again. Whenever you guys tour the states, I will be there, and help spread the word. New to this band with the Prisoner single. Checked the back catalog, and while okay, it seems they were chasing influences and trying to figure out who they were. These two singles thus far show tremendous growth/maturity as song writers. Very dynamic performances, especially vocally, she is incredible. The mix/master/engineering is also much improved which helps the delivery of these tunes. If I HAVE to be critical, I don't love the talk vocals (I know they use this a lot in past stuff), just my personal opinion. The rest is damn near perfect. Wish they'd announce a release date instead of Spring 23 haha. Long winded but a very talented band and looking forward to more.

Is this a song about Addiction, and the realization of how precious life is? The Struggle and loneliness that's felt by detox, and realizing that it's eventually okay. You'll be okay, and it's better off being clear? That's how I took it, but that's coming from a recovering addict. The Video itself just the visuals gave me that the first time watching it. Then the rest came through watching it about 3 times over and having read the lyrics. I could be off here, but I'm happy with my interpretation of this masterful art piece.

Now that Darkbeat has dropped it's so much heavier to see the man she loves who was killed is with her throughout all these other phases of her agony. She doesn't seem to see him but he's there the whole time contributing to the music.
I am one of the people who lose the family as well. It is also being insulted by people around, causing it to be cold, sometimes using violence against outsiders. I know it is not good, but if the people around and the outside With me or with me, I'll be good to him.Something I wanted to tell someone, but listening to it without this song made everything so much better.

Gotta say I’m loving this band rn for the same reasons I love spiritbox. Y’all are incorporating some really heavy metalcore screams and breakdowns with prisoner. But then a more melodic and clean vocal type song like oblivion. Love this shit honestly.

Also in their latest releases (till now) outside of the music itself , the storytelling in The Fear of Fear for Spiritbox, and the Darkbeat Chapters (still ongoing) for Ankor, are just next level, the Music videos and the acting as well (with so many hints and looping and clues ....). I just LOVE IT !! and of course for the music they are both basically reinventing the metal genre, mixing styles, and again, I LOVE IT !!

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE LORE OF THE CHAPTERS!
Ok I am choosing to put this comment here, as this is Chapter 3. And I believe, the most powerful of the 3 chapters, which I will explain. I really wanted to make a youtube video discussing the lore of the 3 chapters, but I don't know how to make videos nor do I have the resources to. I'm just a simple dude. BUT.. I wanted to comment here with what I have gathered watching these 3 videos numerous times and taking cues from both the lyrics, visual representations, and even the music itself.
Now as a preface, art can always be (and is meant to be) interpreted different ways. This is merely my interpretation. Also trigger warning, this story deals with some very dark themes, murder, suicide, and depression. That being said, let's dive in.
We start with Chapter 1, Darkbeat. This is obviously a story about a murder. Jessie, the vocalist, is also acting. She is playing the part of the main character in these stories. Quick footnote, her amazing vocal talent aside, it is equally impressive her acting skills. She says more with her facial expressions and body movements than any of you realize, especially considering that, let's be real, most of us don't know what the full lyrics are until we actually read them. So we are witnessing not only an amazing vocal performance, but an amazing acting performance from Jessie as well. Back to the story.. Darkbeat starts on a really great note. There is a fun energy to the story, a happy couple, in love and experiencing life. And this theme persists throughout the entire video, until the end, when things go horribly and tragically wrong. Also, because of this vibe, musically, this song leans heavily into EDM elements, which is intentional given it's title, "Darkbeat." Our happy couple trances through the video (pun intended), until one night, a random stranger murders the boyfriend, leaving Jessie's character completely heartbroken and destroyed. I won't linger long on Chapter 1. It's message and story are pretty clear. I believe the lyrics greatly are dealing with the aftermath of the shooting, and will transition directly into Chapter 2. In fact the opening lyrics are "No. It's your blood on my hands."
Now, on to Chapter 2. This is a story about suicide. Or I will say as a caveat, attempted suicide. Musically, this song is the most feral of the 3. While it incorporates a little pop and hip hop it leans much heavier into the metal aspect of the band. The chorus starts with "I don’t want to be the one to forget It’s my blood that’s on my hands." I found this to be a very interesting lyric, considering in Darkbeat it was YOUR blood, and now it has changed to MY blood. And then it hit me.. what this band is doing BRILLIANTLY with the lyrics. The lyrics are dealing with the end of the videos. As Darkbeat's lyrics represented the aftermath of the shooting, Prisoners lyrics deal with the aftermath of a suicide attempt. And Jessie saying MY BLOOD is not an oversight.. it is intentional, and brilliant, story telling. The transition in pronouns is telling us that now it is her characters life who is in danger. And being as the threat of random shooter no longer exists, I can only assume that danger is coming from herself. Visually we see scenes of Jessie covered in blood, which I believe represent her not being able to get the murder out of her head. There are scenes of her trying to wash it off in the shower, but her facial expressions tell us she is unable to. Most of these blood scenes are shot in the shower. This is speaking to her mental state of guilt and grief. And then there are the scenes with her lying on the floor. Blood around her head, assumingly dead. BUT.. in one such scene, we see her arm twitch. Which tells us she is still alive. Now again logically breaking this down, and knowing what we know about Chapter 1, and her mental state to this point, I think it is safe to assume that she attempted suicide. The scenes we see with her on the floor represent this. Also interesting that the only lyrics put on screen are "Will I survive?" So Chapter 2 deals with a suicide attempt in the aftermath of a love one being murdered.
Chapter 3. Oblivion. This is a story about depression. And boy does this hit hard. I'm a grown man that tears up EVERY TIME I watch this video, and I couldn't figure out why. Until I began to understand the story better. So Jessie's character survives her suicide attempt. And now she is living in depression. The lyrics are actually uplifting and hopeful. But here is where the acting gets brilliant. While she is singing these happy hopeful lyrics... look at her facial expressions. Anyone that knows anything about depression knows that many people hide theirs in smiles. We open with her and the band being in an open beautiful field, and the chorus keeps repeating "I'll be ok"... but the only lyrics put on screen are "Where do I belong?" During the course of the video, we see her on the couch, clutching a picture of her lost love, still racked with grief. There are scenes of her with a group of friends, casually and normally enjoying a social gathering, until we realize there is nobody actually at that table. There are a couple quick scenes of a pill overdose. Which I think represents her true suicide attempt. Which we see her wake up from in the hospital at the end of the video. Interestingly, right before it goes to that scene, it flashes through a quick montage of scenes that include the OD, as well as scenes from Prisoner of her in the shower covered in blood then on the floor. I believe that was put there intentionally to tie in the imagery of her suicide attempt. As for the ending of the video, I think it loops to the beginning. The ending is her waking up from her suicide attempt, which takes us to the opening of the video in the field. And then the rest of the video deals with that depression.
Well, maybe I nailed it, maybe I could not be more wrong. What I can say for sure though is that this band is AMAZING. The full package. Great music, great visuals, interesting story telling, and I gotta say, it feels really good to find a band I can actually be a FAN of. I worked most of my life in the music industry, and so I have heard it all, which tends to make me a bit skeptical when it comes to bands and music. Especially new bands, just because everything has been done and you will always be compared to somebody else. Even this band cannot escape those comparisons. But I think they stand quite well on their own 2 feet. And that is the highest compliment that I can give to a band. Hope you guys enjoyed this lore breakdown, and I look forward to you all telling me why I am wrong in the replies to this comment. Cheers. EDIT.. forgot to say this but I am really looking forward to see where Chapter 4 takes this story.

You practically nailed all our intentions and messages here, although all the fields and landscapes in Oblivion can be also interpreted as her journey through a coma after her suicide attempt. She doesn't know what she is doing or where she is, the only thing that she knows is that she doesn't belong there. She knows life is beautiful and she knows that there's still people to fight for... Until she realizes that she is in Oblivion. A place between life and death. Now she remembers everything, she wants to come back with her people before her time is over, so she starts "running to them"... Until she finally wakes up in the hospital bed. Ready for a new life, ready for a new beginning... Or not.💙 (to be continued soon)

I'm embarrassed to say this but I was getting burnt out. I've literally seen well over a thousand live shows in my lifetime and I wanted to do something more "normal" with my life. Which I am doing, with great success to my mental health. But it feels SO good to be a fan of something again. Whenever you guys tour the states, I will be there, and help spread the word. New to this band with the Prisoner single. Checked the back catalog, and while okay, it seems they were chasing influences and trying to figure out who they were. These two singles thus far show tremendous growth/maturity as song writers. Very dynamic performances, especially vocally, she is incredible. The mix/master/engineering is also much improved which helps the delivery of these tunes. If I HAVE to be critical, I don't love the talk vocals (I know they use this a lot in past stuff), just my personal opinion. The rest is damn near perfect. Wish they'd announce a release date instead of Spring 23 haha. Long winded but a very talented band and looking forward to more.

I went from Darkbeat, yet I can't relive myself to the addictive short-blast-pauses Prisoner and Oblivion gave. They're a complete journey..

Now that Darkbeat has dropped it's so much heavier to see the man she loves who was killed is with her throughout all these other phases of her agony. She doesn't seem to see him but he's there the whole time contributing to the music.
I am one of the people who lose the family as well. It is also being insulted by people around, causing it to be cold, sometimes using violence against outsiders. I know it is not good, but if the people around and the outside With me or with me, I'll be good to him.Something I wanted to tell someone, but listening to it without this song made everything so much better.
