In a world where broken promises are common place, when it counts most, there are people willing to help strangers because they gave their word. The essence of 'Everyday Heroes' is about these individuals keeping their promise -- to respond, regardless of who the person in need is or the unknown risks that may await the First Responders.
Dave Carroll's hope is that 'Everyday Heroes' and the message contained within the song/video will be shared and enjoyed with anyone who might appreciate it. The website 911Song.com is dedicated to enhancing and supporting the lives of all First Responders and their families. It is a place where Dave Carroll hopes that a strong community of interest forms and comes back often to keep connected and engaged in supporting First Responders and their related organizations.

This song along with many others makes me proud to be a volunteer firefighter/first responder. I believe that no matter what patch we wear on our shirts we are all brothers and sisters and are all here for the same reason, also we should try to learn about others job functions so that if we see a brother or sister having problems on a scene we can lend them a helping hand, whether it be police, ems, or fire. God bless all my brothers and sisters and may he keep his protecting hand over you.
same brother...started as a volunteer and made it all the way to assistant chief and now also work as a LEO for my county
from a junior firefighter God bless you as well, and I agree we should try to learn all branches of emergency services and I'm currently trying to do so as a plan to be a state trooper
There is nothing wrong with being a volunteer, if anything it should be more honorable because you're providing a service that pays you nothing in return and you're doing it because you want to help.
me to brother level 1 FF Manchester ohio
Joe Barker AMEN buddy i faught fire fighter with my closest uncle/2nd dad for 9 month's
Respect to all the smoke-eaters, those who stand on that thin blue line and those who put us back together. You are all heroes and deserve a salute every time you pass. From the grandson of a fallen firefighter
Police don't stand on the thin blue line, they are the thin blue line. They are the line that separates pure evil and the public. The line that's hated, feared and often forgot.
Im sorry to hear that about you grandfather and thank as a firefighter
Amen brother. Amen. May your grandfather Rest In Peace know you are safe because of him
Thank you! That really means the world!

I comment from my wifes account, I am damn proud of her being a long time first responder even as a child she was saving lives watching her brother get washed away in the 2011 Tohoku Tsunami and still offering to help even as she was mourning, Two years later in 2013 my other brother in law was killed in the Moore Oklahoma Tornado she held him as he bled out in her arms and She still helped in Search and rescue being only 14 years old and having just seen her brother sacrifice his life and bleed out in her arms she worked well into the next month helping save as many as possible before returning home to Japan and at 17 Recieved her flight medicine certificate and at 18 was one of the thousands of first responders at the Route 91 festival shooting being 18 years old and getting shot in the femoral artery as she was evacuating people she limped in and out with a tournequet on her leg with a bullet inside her going back into the gunfire and helped so many people, I am proud to be the husband of such a badass paramedic turned Emergency Room Physician/Organ transplant surgeon who is a survivor God bless Molly, I may be away from homr but I am hurting too we lost our beautiful boys but we will get through this together I love you~
I'm so sorry my longest love heart goes to you
❤❤❤
I’ve had firefighters save us from a huge pasture fire by my neighbors horses and cops save me and my friend during a attempted break in. I’m so thankful for first responders
Your lucky.
@@juilebrown2461 I think he’s lucky he was saved, but also kind of unlucky to have to experience those things 😂
the proudest moment i ever had and it brought this 30- yr paramedic/firefighter and army vet to tears is when a school function the teacher asked my son to tell what his mom and dad do. he asked the teacher to play this video and then he said "thats MY dad"
Edward Bloomer when I was little I was shy so every first day of school that my dad wasn’t working he would come in and introduce himself and would bring all of the fire equipment with him. Never gonna forget.
That's awesome and thank for everything you do.
Aw bless, that's so sweet. Thank you for everything you do and have done.💙
ALL first responders are heroes in my book along with EMT and PARAMEDICS who have aved my life once in the fastest ambulance ride I ever want to take again. EACH AND EVERYONE ARE HEROES IN MY BOOKS AS THEY ALL deserve recognitionfor the lives they save

I'm a volunteer firefighter and I gotta say I wouldn't want to do anything else then this. Its the best thing I've done. I'm so blessed to work with the guys there and its just amazing
i am also a volunteer firefighter we risk our lives for people we dont even know and even then sometime it goes by people like nothing ever happened, it pisses me off when us volunteer firefighters have our light running and the person in front of us just wont give us the right us way and move over for one second
Amen. I am training to be a volunteer firefighter. and it pisses me off when the paid firefighters get all the credit and we get no credit. (i don't mean to be complaining because I don't do it for the credit but it still pisses me off)
I agree us volunteers have to deal with just as much as danger as the paid ones do
The Firefighter it’s guys like you (volunteers) that put out my house fire in 2016. I’m very greatful for what u and ur team do.
james allen91 I agree y’all are going to save lives and people can’t move over. Nothing they’re doing is more important then what ur on ur way to do. The volunteer fire department in Marion put out my house fire in 2016. Me and my family appreciate everything u do
I am a firefighter from Halifax where this is filmed. This is station 2 on University street. Here we al work together Firefighters , Paramedics & Police. We have a mutual respect for each other. E.H.S. was not available to take part in this and they do show EHS in the song. Its just there was not enough time to put everyone in it. I do not know about the rest of you but most Paramedics are part of there fire department, unfortunantly ours are privately owned but we do have respect for them. They have saved a lot of firefighters even saved my life after I was caught in a fire. I guess its because its a Canadian way.
Not just Canada. Here in America too.
ShockAdvised98 too bad the public here in the U.S. doesn't share the same respect for first responders as Canada does.
You're right Joseph. But we still do it for the love.
I'm with a department in a small town in North Carolina and all of our emergency services(fire,rescue,E.M.S, and law enforcement) is like one huge family. We all work together for the same cause and we do it well. Stay safe out there my brothers and sisters.
thank you
Theres no combat pay, no "oh I'll get the next one" all there is is waking up 7 days a week regardless of whether you work 4-10s or 5-8s knowing that you yourself would willingly lay down your life to ensure the safety and well being of every man woman and child you encounter that day.
That says it all!
my dad is a retired military firefighter. i love this song not only for him but for the brave men who worked along side him in the pitch dark of a burning ship or sub.
two years ago i my brother had to call 911 for me when i fell off the 2nd story balcony on our house. the sirens in the distance and all those responders were a wonderful sound and a very welcomer sight! God bless them all!
My brother is a Firefighter and I’m so damn proud of him and his fellow first responders. Also I am a former dispatcher..one of the hardest jobs ever. Thank you to everyone that serves and have served. Dispatch, PD, Fire, EMT, Military
we cant leave out the ems and medics they are just as important as fire and law enforcement
How long do you want this song to be?
They did feature EMS for a short time. Honestly, a song is too short.
Neither is a lifetime
Dial 911 and you get "police, fire ambulance?". Not just "police, or fire?"
For some of us...it will be our lifetime.
Every time I hear this song it makes me tear up. most of us don't do what we do for the gratitude but it is nice when we get them.
I agree I'm just a volunteer but I do it BC I love the profession
James Allen I am a volunteer myself. one of the instructors for a class I was taking who is a paid firefighter himself said anytime he hears a paid firefighter say the words Just a volunteer he always tells them that "on scene paid firefighters are there because they are paid to be and volunteers are there because they want to be".
Granted that statement is based on a semantics because while yes they are getting paid to be there most paid guys do it because they want to also.
Also while technically as volunteers we don't get paid we do get compensation in the way of training. We get to go to classes and experience things not everyone gets to. Like there are these 2 classes but on by the Department of Homeland Security. One is Prevention and response to terrorist bombing incidents and the other is response to suicide bombing incidents.
It is class room and field lab.
You learn about the components of bombs, the different ways damage is done, things to look for pre blast and post blast. Then you go and see real live bombs up close, car bombs, pipe bomb, letter bombs etc. Then you go to a bunker up on a hill and watch while the set them off. Then you go back down and see the destruction up close.
The government pays for the plane ticket, hotel rooms, rental cars. The only thing that comes out of your pocket initially is cost of meals and if you check baggage at the airport. Then at the end of the class you fill out a form to get reimbursed at what ever the federal perdiem rate is. 3 weeks later you get a check.
They are held at new mexico tech and it's free to go to

The whole time I watched this, I had a smile on my face. I just applied for Volunteer Firefighter. This is all that it is. Helping people.
From the wife of a firefighter (and former police officer), thank-you for this beautiful tribute!
As firemen we understand
That death's a card dealt in our hand
A card we hope we never play
But one we hold there anyway
That card is something we ignore
As we crawl across a weakened floor
For we know that we're the only prayer
For anyone that might be there
So remember as you wipe your tears
The joy I knew throughout the years
As I did the job I loved to do
I pray that thought will see you through
firefighters we run into what everyone else is running from we will put our lives on the line for complete strangers and not think twice about it with the good times in the fire service there are bad but you have to get through it and continue on. we all live by a code SO OTHERS MAY LIVE

Don't forget the paramedics
+Connor Starkey-Vlogs I agree don't forget the paramedics, but also everyone don't forget your dispatchers, because true they aren't on the scene, but they still hear a lot over the phone and they are still a huge part of emergency services

😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤thank u so much for helping our community
Don't worry I got your 6.
Great song. I'm gonna be a firefighter when I'm old enough I'm gonna save as many people as I can before I die
Double trouble all the way Just remember its not always about the save but being there for someone when they need you. I love to see younger firefighters come in with that attitude though. Remember another thing from an older firefighter, if you're not safe you can't help. Be careful and power on
That's great! But remember the most important rule of being a first responder: You can't save everybody, no matter how hard you try, or how perfect you do your job, even if your superman himself you can't save everybody. Everybody does not get a happy ending, some calls turn out to be absolutely horrific and scarring. But don't let this stop your determination. You have the right mindset to be a firefighter, I myself became a firefighter to save as many people as possible. If you work hard and you dedicate yourself to this job. You will be a great firefighter one day. Earning the title is a great and rewarding accomplishment, one that so few people earn, one that I earned only 4 1/2 months ago. Once you become a firefighter, you join a family, one with members all over the world. Its nice to know I have a future member of the family on the way. Stay safe and good luck.
Thanks and stay safe fighting fires
EvfdSQD1 Well said, I agree with you 100%
Double trouble all the way Great mindset, but just remember it's not about saving lives, there are elements of being a firefighter that aren't so glamorous but if you really love what you do, stuff like cleaning the truck after a big fire will still be a proud moment. Good luck with it mate.
love this song i have been a firefighter for 9 years im currently working on becoming a medic... i come from a long line of firefighters both career and volunteer and my son says he wants to follow in my footsteps and carry on the tradition.. god bless all my brothers and sisters past, present, and future

This song represents all of us firemen, police, first responders, that do put our life on the line. I mean how many people really would run into a burning building to help someone out. When the tones drop, we never know who we r helping out that day so amen to this song, I love it

Not many songs/videos can bring tears to my eyes, but this one did and I am not ashamed to admit it. I'm not sure what impresses me more about Dave Carroll. His incredible soul that comes up with songs like this one and Now or his amazing sense of humor that shines through in his United Breaks Guitars trio.
Whatever it is, don't chance a thing Dave!
11 yrs ago today (Sept. 11) the world was forever changed. Thinking of all who responded to the 'need',n who lost their lives, n to their families who lost their loved ones. Thank you Dave. May all those from that 'terrible day' be remembered for being there n laying it all on the line, doing their jobs. Sympathy to all who lost their loved ones that day, n in the days since because of health issues. May they live on in our memories for the jobs they did, n continue to do to save our loved ones.

I don't know about you but I didn't become a firefighter for the badge but the people of the US
Over 15 years of service held positions from fire fighter to deputy chief and I must say every position is just as important then the other, rank or no rank we all have to work together to do it safe, brothers and sisters stay safe out there we all do what we have to without second guessing to help strangers but this world needs people like us to keep each other safe I couldn't think of anything else I would enjoy doing as much as being a part of the fire fighter family and community. Great song I'm from Nova Scotia also and couldnt be more proud to call this home!! Stay safe everyone!

Alright, not EVERY emergency response personel has a drinking problem...
He didn't say that the emergency responder was drunk. He said that it was the dad who was pissed.
Yeah all of the emergency calls do not have to be a drinking problem I live right by the fire station and I hear all about the calls
Anyone still listening in 2020
Me because I live by a firefighter station two blocks down I hear the sirens going off all the time in the middle of the night and I love how fast that firefighter can get to the calls right away I love what they do they have actually waking me up a few times with their calls because I live one block down from the firefighter

I love this video, I have a high respect for the men and women of FIRE, EMS, and Police officers. They do a dangerous job everyday, and do not get paid enough
Some don't even get paid at all
I hate to be a stickler I am a firefighter and a paramedic and I believe that people call 911 for EMS too. I feel we are often forgotten. Yes Firefighters are amazing ppl but so are we.
Yes. EMS are the ones saving lives. If you think of the importance I think EMS outweighs both fire and police.
RoboWretched We're all a team Robo: police, fire, and EMS. As an EMS person, I can truly say all are equally important. I understand your underlying frustration though about no real recognition of EMS in the video and elsewhere.
RoboWretched that's not always true
nobody "outweighs" the other. All...PD, Fire, and EMS have their individual roles and places. I mean, think about it and be fair. Be well and peace.
How could 142 people dislike this??
cop haters
probably EMS guys who get tired of being forgotten all the time...

deal with it you'll have alot more
I always have my heart swelled full with gratitude when I thank God I was a member of that brotherhood. Thank you for all you do, I miss you always.
If you are in law-enforcement a firefighter or in any part of the military I salute you and thank you for your service and keeping us safe from what you see in your line of work. When I was a little kid I fantasized about growing up and becoming a firefighter like my father was in JFRD. Whenever I went to a fire station with my dad they would crouch down and tell me that my dad was a fire fighting legend and a role model to many of the members of the department. God bless public safety globally.
For all who put it on the line for others GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.
and to be totally honest to the people who are bitching about the EMS not being in the video ever think the firefighter's may also be trained EMT's as well most fire departments do that now
We have the right to "bitch" as in so many areas of our society, EMS is not taken seriously as a profession. Or worthy of any type of recognition. So the "bitch" as you say is a legit gripe when it comes down to the rubber meeting the road for what EMS personnel sacrifice.
Barry G have you people ever thought about how much you guys are disrespecting the firefighters and police by saying the ems does all the lifesaving
Hey Robert....we're not disrespecting anyone. Just pointing out the shortfalls our profession is faced with. Do your research. And FYI, sir, NOBODY said EMS does all the life saving. Without PD and Fire, EMS can't function safely in specific types of calls. It's a team effort. Have a nice day , Robert.
Barry G Emergency services don't do the career they chose for the fame, pay or recognition, they do it because they want to save people's lives. Stop being a little bitch.
BreezyAustralian And as I pointed out, it's a team effort, dipshit.

really nice video. Only one problem: no footage or mere mention of any type of EMS worker. How sad. EMS goes to the same calls PD and FD go to, often getting on scene of a violent incident with no immediate backup. Just saying.
Barry G To be honest, there are a lot of heroes that weren't mentioned. If the song mentioned every hero career out there, it'll be a bit long.
EMS was there tending to the officer after she got shot. But I agree with you, EMS is worth a mention for sure. Usually, where I am from at least, EMS and Fire stage away from the scene until PD has secured the scene.
Good and fair comment sir. Stay safe out there!
I think we can all agree that the dad would've taken 50 bullets after shooting the cop in real life...

I love the song and video. I’m not a FF or LEO nor do I know very many people in either career, but I appreciate that you dedicated this video to these people who put their lives on line - even for those who don’t appreciate what they do for them. I listened to this song over and over as I typed this, and just wanted to say: Keep up the good work.
This song is emotional and brilliant
