This song along with many others makes me proud to be a volunteer firefighter/first responder. I believe that no matter what patch we wear on our shirts we are all brothers and sisters and are all here for the same reason, also we should try to learn about others job functions so that if we see a brother or sister having problems on a scene we can lend them a helping hand, whether it be police, ems, or fire. God bless all my brothers and sisters and may he keep his protecting hand over you.
from a junior firefighter God bless you as well, and I agree we should try to learn all branches of emergency services and I'm currently trying to do so as a plan to be a state trooper
There is nothing wrong with being a volunteer, if anything it should be more honorable because you're providing a service that pays you nothing in return and you're doing it because you want to help.

As a firefighter and first responder, thank you... So much. Nobody appreciates us for what we actually do. I've seen so much, and lost so many (brothers and civilians).. people like you make it worth it.
This song represents all of us firemen, police, first responders, that do put our life on the line. I mean how many people really would run into a burning building to help someone out. When the tones drop, we never know who we r helping out that day so amen to this song, I love it
Theres no combat pay, no "oh I'll get the next one" all there is is waking up 7 days a week regardless of whether you work 4-10s or 5-8s knowing that you yourself would willingly lay down your life to ensure the safety and well being of every man woman and child you encounter that day.
love this song i have been a firefighter for 9 years im currently working on becoming a medic... i come from a long line of firefighters both career and volunteer and my son says he wants to follow in my footsteps and carry on the tradition.. god bless all my brothers and sisters past, present, and future
James Allen I am a volunteer myself. one of the instructors for a class I was taking who is a paid firefighter himself said anytime he hears a paid firefighter say the words Just a volunteer he always tells them that "on scene paid firefighters are there because they are paid to be and volunteers are there because they want to be". Granted that statement is based on a semantics because while yes they are getting paid to be there most paid guys do it because they want to also.
Also while technically as volunteers we don't get paid we do get compensation in the way of training. We get to go to classes and experience things not everyone gets to. Like there are these 2 classes but on by the Department of Homeland Security. One is Prevention and response to terrorist bombing incidents and the other is response to suicide bombing incidents. It is class room and field lab. You learn about the components of bombs, the different ways damage is done, things to look for pre blast and post blast. Then you go and see real live bombs up close, car bombs, pipe bomb, letter bombs etc. Then you go to a bunker up on a hill and watch while the set them off. Then you go back down and see the destruction up close. The government pays for the plane ticket, hotel rooms, rental cars. The only thing that comes out of your pocket initially is cost of meals and if you check baggage at the airport. Then at the end of the class you fill out a form to get reimbursed at what ever the federal perdiem rate is. 3 weeks later you get a check. They are held at new mexico tech and it's free to go to
I would like to offer my condolences and sympathies to the families, extended families, friends of the 3 RCMP officers who lost their lives this week here in NB (Moncton), and to the 2 RCMP officers injured (Cst. Darlene Gaguen, Cst. Eric Dubois - speedy recovery). Thoughts and prayers are with you all in the coming days, weeks, months, years. Thank you ALL for the service(s) you provide in keeping our communities safe, and responding to our calls for assistance.. RIP Cst. Dave Ross, Cst. Fabrice Gevaudan, Cst. Douglas Larche
To my Brave Mom who showed me how to be a Hero! You have been saving lives for 22 years! I was 9 when I saved my first life! I am 14 now and I know I want to be just like you! I Love you Mom Thank you for being both Mom and Dad for me!
This song means a lot too me as both my parents died 9/11 on scene as firefighters and I love to see honor brought to all first responders they mean a lot to the world even though not everyone notices...
Not many songs/videos can bring tears to my eyes, but this one did and I am not ashamed to admit it. I'm not sure what impresses me more about Dave Carroll. His incredible soul that comes up with songs like this one and Now or his amazing sense of humor that shines through in his United Breaks Guitars trio. Whatever it is, don't chance a thing Dave!
a firefighter in training well welcome to the brotherhood i have been doing it for just about a year in january and i wouldnt want to do anything else remember you will have the good with the bad but at the end the family that you have in the fire service will always be there no matter what make a good time out of it and never focus on the bad
Over 15 years of service held positions from fire fighter to deputy chief and I must say every position is just as important then the other, rank or no rank we all have to work together to do it safe, brothers and sisters stay safe out there we all do what we have to without second guessing to help strangers but this world needs people like us to keep each other safe I couldn't think of anything else I would enjoy doing as much as being a part of the fire fighter family and community. Great song I'm from Nova Scotia also and couldnt be more proud to call this home!! Stay safe everyone!
Double trouble all the way Just remember its not always about the save but being there for someone when they need you. I love to see younger firefighters come in with that attitude though. Remember another thing from an older firefighter, if you're not safe you can't help. Be careful and power on
That's great! But remember the most important rule of being a first responder: You can't save everybody, no matter how hard you try, or how perfect you do your job, even if your superman himself you can't save everybody. Everybody does not get a happy ending, some calls turn out to be absolutely horrific and scarring. But don't let this stop your determination. You have the right mindset to be a firefighter, I myself became a firefighter to save as many people as possible. If you work hard and you dedicate yourself to this job. You will be a great firefighter one day. Earning the title is a great and rewarding accomplishment, one that so few people earn, one that I earned only 4 1/2 months ago. Once you become a firefighter, you join a family, one with members all over the world. Its nice to know I have a future member of the family on the way. Stay safe and good luck.
Double trouble all the way Great mindset, but just remember it's not about saving lives, there are elements of being a firefighter that aren't so glamorous but if you really love what you do, stuff like cleaning the truck after a big fire will still be a proud moment. Good luck with it mate.
i miss my grandpa was a firefighter and on his funeral day they did a last call for him. And when huge brothers heard about his passing they all went by honking and waving as they went by his house because he worked there i wish i was there to see it it so sweet of them to do that. i rilly miss him 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Awesome tribute!!! Thank you to all my brothers and sisters in the emergency services for being there. Without you the rest of us first responders would not be able to do what we do.
I'm an fire explorer/training. I love this song my advisor and Momma showed it to me. my mom is worried bout when I join the line but I told her I took an vow and I plan on keeping. ik there's some stuff that I'm going not to want to see. But I have seen alot in my life already. I'm ready for the line. serve my community
firefighters we run into what everyone else is running from we will put our lives on the line for complete strangers and not think twice about it with the good times in the fire service there are bad but you have to get through it and continue on. we all live by a code SO OTHERS MAY LIVE
Robert Paul my Grand father was a Firefighter for the Miniapolis Fire Department about 10-15 years ago and he is Amazing and definitely one of my hero's just like all paramedic's, Military, Police, and Fire, all one big Thank You!!
My Brother is a Corrections Officer and was severely injured in a jail explosion on 4/30/2014. The Officers responding to the crisis that were working that night are everyday heroes as well as the Sheriff's Office, SWAT, EMS, Pensacola Police and the National Guard. Thanks again Kelly for holding my brothers head above water waiting for help to arrive. This song nails it. We don't do it for the money. We do it because we are driven to run into a burning building or towards gunfire. Dave I also love United breaks guitars. :-)
@@angieharvey7773 good one.... i lost my mom 2015 and i lost my younger sister.. and i have a boy who is currently in the army and he coming home on christmas day and he's going to be coming to come to my brithday... i love him he lovees me too
I know some Firefighters the fire station that I live by I hear the firefighters go on calls all the time and thanks to the fire station in Waterloo Indiana you save every time I have so thank you every much. Keep up the great work even though I hear you guys in the middle of the night because I am one block down from the fire station.
EMT here. I love this profession and i would cnot change it and this song hits me hard, I may be new but at the same the passion i have to save and help people is strong. God bless all fire, LEOs, and EMS
+Connor Starkey-Vlogs I agree don't forget the paramedics, but also everyone don't forget your dispatchers, because true they aren't on the scene, but they still hear a lot over the phone and they are still a huge part of emergency services
I am a volunteer firefighter and EMT and I perform primary entry and search. I appreciate that people take the time to just say thanks. I have lost 3 members to structure fires in a year. There's nothing worse than running into a fire with a brother but having to drag that brother out knowing you will never see him next to you in the truck or on the squad again. So I think people that have no knowledge about what goes on in this profession need to experience it before they open their mouths. I just want to thank all of my fellow brothers and sisters in this field.
Nice song. I'm a current medical first responder volunteer, September 2016 I plan on becoming a paramedic in Ontario. Great respect for those I work along with on a regular basis. Best part of the job is knowing the difference being made
If you are in law-enforcement a firefighter or in any part of the military I salute you and thank you for your service and keeping us safe from what you see in your line of work. When I was a little kid I fantasized about growing up and becoming a firefighter like my father was in JFRD. Whenever I went to a fire station with my dad they would crouch down and tell me that my dad was a fire fighting legend and a role model to many of the members of the department. God bless public safety globally.
Dave: Very nice interview the other night on "Live At 5" here in the Maritimes!! Nice to see that the # of viewers to this great song/video is climbing, so all you viewers out there pass it on to your friends, family, co-workers, etc...Wishing you many more great years of songs/videos with far reaching messages. Keep up the great work Dave.
I'm a probationary volunteer firefighter the first time I listened to this song it was before I joined the fire service I already respected first responders but now that I am apart of the brother and sisterhood of first responders being there when people are at their worst and helping them or their family through the worst time in their life it does change your perspective I did a ride along with a neighboring fire department and hearing a story of a man who almost ended his life and hearing his story on the way to the hospital me and one of the medics listened and talk to him I connected with him because I had gone through several rough patches in life but I connected with him and I told him that even though it doesn't seem like it right now someone out there cared for him and wanted him around I hope that wherever he his right now I hope he's doing a lot better if tou can connect with a patient because you have a perspective and can connect with them on it it will help you to all my brothers and sisters out there no matter what part of that flag your represent I hope you all make it home to whoever you have waiting at home and godspeed everyone
I am training to become a firefighter in phoenix Arizona and when I do become one I will do everything I can to help people when they need it even if that means giving my life to save them
Damn...sad song. Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you all men and women of the Law Enforcement and Fire, and Medical for what y'all do. And thanks to my dad whose been in Law Enforcement for 21 years. love you and know I'm praying for all you to make it home everyday. ❤
This song hits me hard. My dad was a volunteer firefighter and when I asked him about he said he loved it but he also shared that he still struggles with a few he couldn't save. They haunt him to this day but he would do it again if he could.
My dad is a fire fighter and every day he could go in to work and never come home but I know if and when he dies he will have died doing what he loves love u dad Abbie
my uncle was a firefighter and he just passed away not that long ago so I went to my local department and applied and boot camp is coming up in the next few weeks
I'm in tears! Over last weekend, my son came home with my father's back name tag and his helmet with his number. It was the first time I saw it again after 9 years of my father being gone. My ex husband bought the truck my dad would drive as Cheif for my son. My son and my father were each other's shadows. Our military and first responders are our heros.
My late dad Gerald Mills had over 50 years in the fire services I followed in his foot steps. Now im retired I want to say thank to all how in God bless you. It takes courage guts that is what makes you a special man or woman
@@sarahgeloneck4857 We’re I live at they start us out as what they call a jr firefighter until we’re like 18 but we are still running calls and doing pretty much the same thing as every other firefighter.

As a volunteer firefighter we put alot on the line for people we don't know. We run in when everyone else runs out. First in last out. I don't know how people dislike this song. It seems truth for all. Between firefighter EMTs and cops it's a brotherhood that can be broke. Love my fella men and women out there
I hate to be a stickler I am a firefighter and a paramedic and I believe that people call 911 for EMS too. I feel we are often forgotten. Yes Firefighters are amazing ppl but so are we.
RoboWretched We're all a team Robo: police, fire, and EMS. As an EMS person, I can truly say all are equally important. I understand your underlying frustration though about no real recognition of EMS in the video and elsewhere.
10 years on the job, paramedic/firefighter, then cop assigned to Fam Violence/Sex Crimes unit. Hero is the LAST thing I ever was. But the folks I served with? "Was I a Hero? No. But I served in a company of heroes". Thanks for the song
I am a jr. firefighter for my local company and the one thing i hate people doing is saying "i'm so sorry for wasting your time" like that's what I signed up for. Why else would i roll out of bed at 3 am for a 2nd alarm box fire??
Me because I live by a firefighter station two blocks down I hear the sirens going off all the time in the middle of the night and I love how fast that firefighter can get to the calls right away I love what they do they have actually waking me up a few times with their calls because I live one block down from the firefighter
and to be totally honest to the people who are bitching about the EMS not being in the video ever think the firefighter's may also be trained EMT's as well most fire departments do that now
We have the right to "bitch" as in so many areas of our society, EMS is not taken seriously as a profession. Or worthy of any type of recognition. So the "bitch" as you say is a legit gripe when it comes down to the rubber meeting the road for what EMS personnel sacrifice.
Hey Robert....we're not disrespecting anyone. Just pointing out the shortfalls our profession is faced with. Do your research. And FYI, sir, NOBODY said EMS does all the life saving. Without PD and Fire, EMS can't function safely in specific types of calls. It's a team effort. Have a nice day , Robert.
Barry G Emergency services don't do the career they chose for the fame, pay or recognition, they do it because they want to save people's lives. Stop being a little bitch.
I'm a volunteer firefighter and i really like this song, it really inspires you to do more heroic things in a call, even if it your last ride to a call, and save someone.
I love this song so much! Everytime I see any type of emergency vehicle go racing towards an emergency, it reminds me of this song and I start singing "Cause they made a promise and here they come someone hurting called 9-1-1".
David Vande Vooren u do stuff u help the fd when they have someone who is in need of help u guys go to calls I was secard of u guys when I fell off my bike real fast u guys came out there so fast going code 3 thank u

Can you be a volunteer firefighter if you're legally blind
That says it all!
love this song i have been a firefighter for 9 years im currently working on becoming a medic... i come from a long line of firefighters both career and volunteer and my son says he wants to follow in my footsteps and carry on the tradition.. god bless all my brothers and sisters past, present, and future
Every time I hear this song it makes me tear up. most of us don't do what we do for the gratitude but it is nice when we get them.
I agree I'm just a volunteer but I do it BC I love the profession

Don't worry I got your 6.
My boyfriend is a volunteer firefighter and he is my hero for sure!❤
Fantastic song!!! I'm a firefighter in training!
good luck for you
Taylor H
a firefighter in training well welcome to the brotherhood i have been doing it for just about a year in january and i wouldnt want to do anything else remember you will have the good with the bad but at the end the family that you have in the fire service will always be there no matter what make a good time out of it and never focus on the bad
Taylor H where at
Taylor H Thank you for your service.
Great song. I'm gonna be a firefighter when I'm old enough I'm gonna save as many people as I can before I die
Thanks and stay safe fighting fires
EvfdSQD1 Well said, I agree with you 100%
Double trouble all the way Great mindset, but just remember it's not about saving lives, there are elements of being a firefighter that aren't so glamorous but if you really love what you do, stuff like cleaning the truck after a big fire will still be a proud moment. Good luck with it mate.
i miss my grandpa was a firefighter and on his funeral day they did a last call for him. And when huge brothers heard about his passing they all went by honking and waving as they went by his house because he worked there i wish i was there to see it it so sweet of them to do that. i rilly miss him 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Dave-
Thank-you.
This means a lot to us who serve without asking for anything in return.
We do this......
Just because its in our blood.
Awesome tribute!!! Thank you to all my brothers and sisters in the emergency services for being there. Without you the rest of us first responders would not be able to do what we do.
we cant leave out the ems and medics they are just as important as fire and law enforcement
How long do you want this song to be?
They did feature EMS for a short time. Honestly, a song is too short.
Neither is a lifetime
Dial 911 and you get "police, fire ambulance?". Not just "police, or fire?"
For some of us...it will be our lifetime.

So true
My Brother is a Corrections Officer and was severely injured in a jail explosion on 4/30/2014. The Officers responding to the crisis that were working that night are everyday heroes as well as the Sheriff's Office, SWAT, EMS, Pensacola Police and the National Guard. Thanks again Kelly for holding my brothers head above water waiting for help to arrive. This song nails it. We don't do it for the money. We do it because we are driven to run into a burning building or towards gunfire. Dave I also love United breaks guitars. :-)

Don't forget the paramedics
+Connor Starkey-Vlogs I agree don't forget the paramedics, but also everyone don't forget your dispatchers, because true they aren't on the scene, but they still hear a lot over the phone and they are still a huge part of emergency services
+Ann Kopitzke yes. You are very right...they save lives
Thank you John Scott I can't wait to become a fire fighter and a police officer to and this song makes me cry for the woman I loved
+Ann Kopitzke with out them the cop fire team or paramedics wouldn't know nothing
God Bless All First Responders
Nice song. I'm a current medical first responder volunteer, September 2016 I plan on becoming a paramedic in Ontario. Great respect for those I work along with on a regular basis. Best part of the job is knowing the difference being made

Hello! Just a curious question...why you didn't continue with the firefighting?
I always have my heart swelled full with gratitude when I thank God I was a member of that brotherhood. Thank you for all you do, I miss you always.
my dad is a fireman and every time he gets toned out I Listen to this
amen
I feel thet
I am training to become a firefighter in phoenix Arizona and when I do become one I will do everything I can to help people when they need it even if that means giving my life to save them
Cool just flip them around for me I going to be a paramedic when I finish middle school and high school

As a volunteer firefighter we put alot on the line for people we don't know. We run in when everyone else runs out. First in last out. I don't know how people dislike this song. It seems truth for all. Between firefighter EMTs and cops it's a brotherhood that can be broke. Love my fella men and women out there
Inlove with this song
As a future paramedic this song touches my heart. My adopted father is a law enforcement officer and his it's a amazing video
I hate to be a stickler I am a firefighter and a paramedic and I believe that people call 911 for EMS too. I feel we are often forgotten. Yes Firefighters are amazing ppl but so are we.
Yes. EMS are the ones saving lives. If you think of the importance I think EMS outweighs both fire and police.
RoboWretched We're all a team Robo: police, fire, and EMS. As an EMS person, I can truly say all are equally important. I understand your underlying frustration though about no real recognition of EMS in the video and elsewhere.
RoboWretched that's not always true
nobody "outweighs" the other. All...PD, Fire, and EMS have their individual roles and places. I mean, think about it and be fair. Be well and peace.
Most kids say their heros are movie stars, but my hero is my father who served for 22 years before he retired
This is such a good firefighter song
10 years on the job, paramedic/firefighter, then cop assigned to Fam Violence/Sex Crimes unit. Hero is the LAST thing I ever was. But the folks I served with? "Was I a Hero? No. But I served in a company of heroes". Thanks for the song

SJS FD. I remember when I saw that engine passing by my school. Loved my firefighters, someday. My dream will come true.
and to be totally honest to the people who are bitching about the EMS not being in the video ever think the firefighter's may also be trained EMT's as well most fire departments do that now
We have the right to "bitch" as in so many areas of our society, EMS is not taken seriously as a profession. Or worthy of any type of recognition. So the "bitch" as you say is a legit gripe when it comes down to the rubber meeting the road for what EMS personnel sacrifice.
Barry G have you people ever thought about how much you guys are disrespecting the firefighters and police by saying the ems does all the lifesaving
BreezyAustralian And as I pointed out, it's a team effort, dipshit.
