This will help you for next time 1. Grate the henna before adding water 2. The consistency should be thinner, more like melted chocolate and less like fresh cow shite. 3. Have your henna in the biggest plastic ir ceramic bowl you have, dunk your head in and work the henna through that way, way less mess! The end colour is beautiful by the way, good job!
Someone down there commented a great few tips but just to add on to it: i use a glass jar and the back of wooden cooking spoon for my mixture (the henna should be fine but if you caught a brand that isn't pure it can react to metal and give your hair a green hue and no it's not a nicr green). I use a fatty cream like Nivea all around my head and ears when dyeing so I don't get stained. You can use saran wrap obviously but I just collect shower caps wherever I go and use them. When washing it out just lower yourself towards the bottom of your shower or tub as much as possible as it'll really minimize the mess. And some colour will keep coming out for the next few washes, use red or orangey towels and it's fine. You'll also smell lightly like an earthy hippy, I personally like it. One more thing, Henna doesn't always turn out the same. Even with the same dye your result will vary plus it obviously depends largely on your natural hair colour how it'll turn out
I use henna about once or twice a month, not to dye my hair though, as a protein treatment for my curly hair. Since my hair is very dark I dont actually get the color but try getting your henna from an Indian store, make sure its 100% organic henna (Never EVER use black henna!) you'll get way more for alot cheaper and its in a powder form so it's easier to mix. Also your mix mat have been too liquidy, I don't think I've ever had that much mess while using it. This color turned out great on you though!💜
I hope you know after using Henna as a hair color, you are absolutely NOT ABLE TO USE ANY BLEACH/CHEMICALS/AMMONIA in your hair. It can CATCH FIRE or START SMOKING! I am a professional hairstylist and have seen it happen in person. There are certain natural ingredients (METALLIC SALTS) that are NOT compatible with typical hair color/treatments. You have to grow out the henna, then can proceed with other chemical options to color/straighten/curl. just an FYI!
Actually, most henna, the good kind at least, should not contain any metallics. If a henna blend has metallic salts its of low quality henna. Lush for instance, does not contain metallic salts. Of course, I can see why hair dressers are taught ALL henna to be bad -- a studio would rather not run the risk of a client coming in with hennaed hair, ask for a bleach or something or another, something horrible happens etc, because as a hair dresser you really don't know WHERE a client sourced their henna. But henna is not bad, you can color over it without issues. Just make sure its good henna. Meaning its organic, not a premade blend. Something called "black henna" for instance. Thats the BAD stuff. But you can color over henna. (I say this out of personal experience, I have been using henna and indigo on and off for 5 years. My hair didnt burst into flames. But my hair did turn green because indigo is blue base HEH.) Also check out the longhaircommunity forums, there is a whole page of women who have bleached over henna and have shown resulting colors etc. :)
You are totally correct. I have done strand tests on Henna treated hair and had fine results and proceeded with the service (although they always get VERY hot, which isn't normal and worse for the hair.) but I have personally witnessed people's hair smoking/almost catchingfire as well as have pieces break off because of it as well. ALWAYS do a strand test on Henna treated hair, and as you said, make sure it's a brand that is safe with as little metallic salts as possible.
Oh wow, well I won't be using henna then! Haha I get bored easily and change my hair often, so I'll just stick to demi-permanents like I have been and not take the risk with henna. 😁
i've been doing henna for awhile now i love how healthy my hair feels and the beautiful color. there's so many recipes also you can add coffee, different types of tea instead of plain water, and i add dried hibiscus into mine to get a beautiful maroon color.
Ah, I used to use henna for years, and remember so well that wonderful feeling when you've just hennaed, obsessing over the shine & colour of your hair... ;D Tempted to go back now!
Henna has beautiful results, especially out in the sunshine. Been using it since a teen. Many good companies. We usually apply it outside, makes clean up easier. Natural is nice and the shine cannot be beat. Good job! Looks good ♡
I’m SO late on this video, but I’ve been watching so many doing research on Lush henna, since I’m planning on trying it soon here. And I HAD to comment and say the red looks SO pretty! Your hair came out amazing in this.
That's the joke. I used to work at Lush and they have a sense of humor about their products. When it's mixed up, it looks like shit, hence the name. We also referred to it as "no shit" hair dye because there are no chemicals.
Ive been using lush Caca rouge for a year now, and I personally love it. Other commenters have said not to use Lush, because it’s overpriced and henna is supposed to be a powder. The lush block is also a lovely moisturizing treatment though so I consider the extra money is for the deep moisture treatment I’m getting. A few things for using lush henna though: it’s better to grate it with a cheese grater than to try to cut it. It also rinses out so much better if you do that. Also, add the juice of a lemon for a brighter color. Line your hairline with coconut oil so it won’t stain, however if you don’t, as soon as you’re done dying your hair wipe it off with a damp cloth and it won’t stain too bad. It is best to leave it as long as you can- the first time I died my hair with it I left it for 5 hours but I like my color much better when I left it on over night. When I wash it out, so I don’t make a massive mess when I shower I sit down in shower and pull the faucet so it’s a couple inches from my scalp
I love the lush henna aswell, I understand that you can get henna for far cheaper in the powder form but like you said you are paying for a deep conditioner which I personally love and I’m extremely great full for. I just did my second treatment of henna to touch up my roots and I used the grating method and found it so much easier. I will have to try the lemon juice method, I have heard good things about it. Coconut oil! Yes! I have been using ultrabalm by lush but it’s a little expensive but I always have coconut oil in the cupboard so that’s great! First time around I left mine for like 3/4 hours but second time I left it overnight and way prefer doing that. My hair felt so much better and I didn’t have to worry about washing it out that same evening. Thank you for watching, and your advice x
Product has consistency of shit... hence its name caca rouge... which is red poop/shit in french Btw to anyone who would assume this is hate it is not. Her hair looks really nice too
I also used blond henna on my bleeched hair (test first) and the colour became more warmer and more sweet. Next time I will but 50% blond +50% brown (I will first do a test again) IAM REALLY RELLY HAPPY WITH IT!!! Not going back to chemicals!
blonde henna is called this way because its natural too. its like cassia henna with chamomile and marigold. it does exist but its launched ike henna yeeeeeears ago and it sticked.
I’ve used caca rouge from lush twice. One of the best things I have ever done for my hair. And it last so long. It is amazing! Specially if you want to be a redhead and not have to worry about retouching it every two weeks. The first time I did it I had like a bright orange tone. I waited a month and did it again and I got a darker orange tone and I loved it even more! Also it says to keep on for 3 hours, but I would put it on my hair at 10 pm and sleep with it on my head. And I feel like I got better results. But that’s just me. I love how it looks on you! It suits you very well!
Just a small tip c: mixing henna and already chemicalled hair can result in a very bad disature. I know you love the henna, but just in case you do go back to chemicals please wait a good amount of time from after you used henna last. Also the more you henna your hair the deeper the shade will get ^^ if you want to stick to the color you have, start using cassia. It will still have the thick glossy feel, like a deep conditioning.
I've watched your video upwards of 5 times since ordering my first block of Henna Caca Rouge from Lush. I'm so excited to dye it. I love the way yours turned out it is so beautiful!

Might be an idea to use rubber gloves like you get for washing up/cleaning because they go right up your forearms. It's what I usually do :) They can be reused as well, unlike the thinner plastic ones that only tend to survive one use. Also reusing a cheap plastic shower cap is more environmentally friendly than using loads of clingfilm! Also that colour looks super cute on you. ❤️❤️
Wow, that turned out beautiful! I have dark brown hair and tried the Caca Noir - it's not yet as black as I wanted it to, but it gets darker with every use, so I'm confident to get there after a couple of uses. You don't need to grate it, by the way - I've cut the cubes into the smallest pieces, like chips, and they did melt easily. Grating is so tiring 😅 And you're right, it makes the hair amazingly soft and stronger, I loved that secondary effect! 🙃
Aw thank you, i love the result! That sounds great, i love the unique shades it proceeds for each person and hair type. Ooo thats good to know, i wasn't looking forward to having to grate it, but next time i will try cutting it into smaller pieces like you mentioned, i think the technique i used was to big and so it took ages to melt. My hair is soon SOFT! It is also thicker which is a great bonus, i don't think i will be going back to chemical or box dies any time soon. I have been converted. Thank you for watching x
Haha, my husband HATES the smell of these, but I kind of like the earthiness. The Rouge was by far the strongest-smelling.. I use Marron most of the time. I love these colors! The results are always great. For my hair the Rouge came out atomically bright, which was fun! The Maroon is a more natural chestnut, so I use that most often now. It's fun stuff. I microwave it for a bit beforehand and then add boiling water.. mixes right up. Pretty color on you!
your natural hair is just like mine, and i have a few grown out highlights. im hoping my hair turns out like yours cause thats the shade of copper ive been looking for!! fingers crossed, wish me luck!
Oh my god. I have way more hair than you and I only used 2 blocks for the first time and now i only use one and mix it with coconut milk. And while it does stain you can wash it away pretty easily. I dye my hair every other month nw and one of these caca rouge bars gets me through a whole year. But I guess... if you do it more often you'll find a way it works for you.
Yep i love the colour, was my natural colour when i was younger, but now my hair is turning white,Any way I used this a few yrs ago and made my hair look fab, until it started growing out and almost white roots,er not a good look.So did my roots, and few weeks later, white roots growing again,so did again, and few weeks later, white roots again.Got fed up of doing my roots, and so had to let it grow out to about almost 6 inches, not a nice look and hated it that much i had it cut out so ended up going from shoulder length hair to short hair,so yeah a great product, never found anything else as good, but put me off having t do roots every few weeks, bit of a pain!
I used henna to get red hair for 2 years. A true pain in the ass to apply but it's amazing. I used the brand Rainbow. mix with tea. My hair was so healthy
It looks stunning! Only advise for the next time: try to put a little more hot water and mix it very very well, it will glide on much easier and less messy. And use a wooden spoon next time, metal is not good for henna. Thanks for the video, i love this color on you! 🙏💕
Looks really nice. The henna mixture was a bit too thick. The consistency should be more of a yoghurt than a porridge, when applying on dry hair. Easier ty apply too! ^_^
Looks lovely, thanks for sharing, I’m a natural red head, with ever increasing white, I’ve tried dyes and they make my hair a really brassy unnatural look. I feel braver having watched your video and I’m going to do it😊 I’ve bought Lush too so fingers crossed
Wonderful color.. I'm planing to to same with my blond into this color and thank u for this video.. I use to do hena years ago before I was blond, my hair was black, and after using hena my hair was much stronger, longer and healthier.. I ve been using if for years ..
My hair is naturally this color but pool bleach and the sun have dulled out the color now it's like blondish I've been looking for this color forever and could not find it thank you😊😊
Tiwa E I've seen hair smoke and melt.. no joke. And for everyone saying "it's lush so it's natural" henna is henna and the metallic salts just don't mix
As a cosmetologist, I will tell you, your hair will not lighten, or it will melt as it tries to lift out henna, henna is great if you aren't going to want to change the color for a long while, but it's bad if you're like most of my clients, and like to change their color often. Henna is really just meant for people who don't want to change their color up, or know they will only want to go darker afterwards, just a warning, my friends client is an ex-henna user, and they're just trying to grown her hair out to cut the henna off, and she matched the henna with professional color, since it can be lifted out in the future.
I've done a strand test and love the result (it looks similar to yours) and am eager to put it on my entire head now!! Does the colour change much over 24 hours? Wondering if I should wait a day or just go for it thanks
While your hair looks absolutely gorgeous - that mess is terrifying! and after seeing the product melted I can see why they named the product "caca" lol
I’ve only ever heard black henna horror stories when used on skin because they add other chemicals. If you get an all natural black henna designed for hair you will be fine x
Don’t know if this helps but a woman on RUclips grated the block with a cheese grater first then mixed with the water. It became smooth really quickly.
Was wondering why they called it Caca...because once she melted it boy did it look like caca 😂😂😂
The World Is A Vampire that’s what I was just thinking 😂
This will help you for next time
1. Grate the henna before adding water
2. The consistency should be thinner, more like melted chocolate and less like fresh cow shite.
3. Have your henna in the biggest plastic ir ceramic bowl you have, dunk your head in and work the henna through that way, way less mess!
The end colour is beautiful by the way, good job!
Great tips, thank you!
I am glad you are converted to henna...your hair looks BEAUTIFUL!!!
The color is gorgeous
It looks healthier & vibrant!!!
Thanks for the video!!
That color really suits you.
Thank you :) xx
It's impressive how natural it looks.
Someone down there commented a great few tips but just to add on to it: i use a glass jar and the back of wooden cooking spoon for my mixture (the henna should be fine but if you caught a brand that isn't pure it can react to metal and give your hair a green hue and no it's not a nicr green).

That's literally the exact color I've been dreaming of!😁 Perfection.
Wow, this turned out way better than I imagined, I thought the stains would be all over your forehead!
Floral Yoongi Min Yoongi!!!
I use henna about once or twice a month, not to dye my hair though, as a protein treatment for my curly hair. Make sure u tell your stylist the henna history because salon products with henna creates a chemical reaction your hair will fry off
I hope you know after using Henna as a hair color, you are absolutely NOT ABLE TO USE ANY BLEACH/CHEMICALS/AMMONIA in your hair. It can CATCH FIRE or START SMOKING! the hotter it is when you apply it, the brighter the color, just dont burn yourself!

Good job! Looks good ♡
You had me at "it kind of almost resembles the same consistency of shit."
Sarah Bertke well "caca rouge" means red poop in french so it's kinda obvious to me that it has to resemble it in some kind of way 😂
I’m SO late on this video, but I’ve been watching so many doing research on Lush henna, since I’m planning on trying it soon here. And I HAD to comment and say the red looks SO pretty! Your hair came out amazing in this.
Did you try it out? I've brought a block online (caca marron) so I'm curious to know how it went!
this is the best henna tutorial video i've ever seen her hair is perffeecctt
I can't take this lush product seriously because of the name. Caca Rouge? Shit Rouge ? Lmao
*shit red lol
doopdedoop13 red shit in French.
That's the joke. I used to work at Lush and they have a sense of humor about their products. When it's mixed up, it looks like shit, hence the name. We also referred to it as "no shit" hair dye because there are no chemicals.

This comment section is exhausting. Your hair looks lovely, the product did what it was supposed to do. Thanks for the demo!
Product has consistency of shit... hence its name caca rouge... which is red poop/shit in french
Btw to anyone who would assume this is hate it is not.
Her hair looks really nice too
Hahaha "caca rouge" d'accord....😂
Inopia Sensei jpp
Team français
Inopia Sensei red shit
😂
"red shit" lmao
Ahhh it compliments your opal plugs so well!!! 🌹❤️
Such a doll 😍💖 this hair color I always wanted to achieve without bleaching and damaging my hair.
I mix powdered henna in a zip lock bag and then after it's developed, snip the corner off and pipe it on 😊
I would like to advise you to put more water in your mixture. You will have less "blobs" falling out while applying 😉
missyginx Thank you for your advice, I used the specified amount of water on the Lush instructions but next take I will use more water 😀
So it look more like diarrhea and less like caca
I hear that west county accent girl.. me too 😅 love the colour!!
That is the most natural looking shade of auburn I've ever seen from a dye, especially over previously dyed hair, my goodness! Great job :)
I’ve been using this color for 8 months now!! I’m so addicted 💞💞💞
You can use coconut oil around your hair line to prevent staining, doesn’t have to be Vaseline :)
I also used blond henna on my bleeched hair (test first) and the colour became more warmer and more sweet. Next time I will but 50% blond +50% brown (I will first do a test again) IAM REALLY RELLY HAPPY WITH IT!!! Not going back to chemicals!
Henna naturally is a red/orange color and anything that says it blond or black or brown. Is made with other chemicals and products in the henna
blonde henna is called this way because its natural too. its like cassia henna with chamomile and marigold. it does exist but its launched ike henna yeeeeeears ago and it sticked.
It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL! JUST BRILLIANT!

Well... caca means poo in French 😂😂😂
Maude Kemp also in Spanish lol
also in portuguse ahah
Also everywhere lol
in hungarian it's 'kaka' :D
It's from Latin.
What were they thinking in Lush by calling this product "Caca", it literally means poop in spanish.
Brii Cosgalla in french too 😅
Clélia Jallet Henna Is or used to be idk made of cow poop😂
??? Henna is not made of poop. It is from a plant.
Brii Cosgalla french
Jade the ignorance is mad big
Wow, that turned out beautiful!
I have dark brown hair and tried the Caca Noir - it's not yet as black as I wanted it to, but it gets darker with every use, so I'm confident to get there after a couple of uses.

The color looks so natural!
It looks so great!! That color suits you. Thanks for showing the results, I have always wanted to know about henna hair color.
i use henna for my hair once a month for the sake of the benefits it has for the hair i absolutely love it, i mix camomile water and orange with it.
Your look like a natural read head!! Gorgeous
I loved your hair color. It’s looks so much better and looking healthier!!!👍👍
"caca" means shit in french... i really don't understand lush choice...
Alix G it means the same in spanish 😂😂
I think it's because thee actual henna itself looks like poo
in greek too haha😂
It actually means poop which is less rude but still 😫
Same in Romanian lol
A tip for you - you could have used coconut oil to protect your skin from staining, its all natural too :)
Hannah Montana, thanks for that tip! I will use the next time I buy their henna in black. 👍
Haha, my husband HATES the smell of these, but I kind of like the earthiness. The Rouge was by far the strongest-smelling.. I use Marron most of the time. I love these colors! I've got henna on my hand while watching this vid lol 💖 love the new colour!
I used a cheese grater to grate the henna block - it took a while to grate it but it made the process easier and the mixture wasn't bitty!
your natural hair is just like mine, and i have a few grown out highlights. im hoping my hair turns out like yours cause thats the shade of copper ive been looking for!! fingers crossed, wish me luck!
Your hair looks great! The copper tone suits you a lot
Your hair color are sooo beautiful ! it's so beautiful on you !
And plus its a paste of leaves.....so healthy for hairs....here in india we have henna plants in our gardens.... homemade hair dye and conditioner 😊😊
100% rubbing alcohol is the only way to remove henna color, it only builds up like vegetable dyes. Bless you.
OMG! That color is to die for and it looks great on you! I'm def gonna try!
Thank you
Oh my god. I have way more hair than you and I only used 2 blocks for the first time and now i only use one and mix it with coconut milk. And while it does stain you can wash it away pretty easily. I dye my hair every other month nw and one of these caca rouge bars gets me through a whole year. But I guess... if you do it more often you'll find a way it works for you.
not the metal tea spoon, u have been quite lucky, but for the next time use a plastic or wooden spoon
Lorenzo Pitti what happens when u use metal in it?
Lorenzo Pitti You're only not supposed to use metal when you're using bleach or chemicals. There are no chemicals in henna, so metal spoons are fine.
Of course there are chemicals in henna, chemicals are in natural and unnatural things.
Åsa Persson everyone told me so, but I don't remember why
Harleen Quinzel I meant that sometimes they do add a pigment in it and it's very dangerous
Wow the color came out Amazing! Looks great on you 💕
This will never get Out of your Hair...I promise 🙄
This color is just stunning
I used henna to get red hair for 2 years. A true pain in the ass to apply but it's amazing. I used the brand Rainbow. mix with tea. My hair was so healthy
It looks stunning! Only advise for the next time: try to put a little more hot water and mix it very very well, it will glide on much easier and less messy. And use a wooden spoon next time, metal is not good for henna.
Thanks for the video, i love this color on you! 🙏💕
You genuinely look better as a ginge! Stunning
Looks really nice. The henna mixture was a bit too thick. The consistency should be more of a yoghurt than a porridge, when applying on dry hair. Easier ty apply too! ^_^
I laughed so hard but it looks amazing. Thanks for the vid. Great color on you.
Looks lovely, thanks for sharing, I’m a natural red head, with ever increasing white, I’ve tried dyes and they make my hair a really brassy unnatural look. I feel braver having watched your video and I’m going to do it😊 I’ve bought Lush too so fingers crossed
Turned out really cool! Lovely color and it looks amazing on you!
Thank you x
This colour is absolutely gorgeous on you!
Thank you 💕
The colour looks spectacular on you!
Thank you 💕
You shouldnt use metal spoon I think....
V. Angel That's only for bleach or chemicals. There are no chemicals in henna, so metal is fine. :)
Like how you put it about chemicals and everything!!! :)
I used a metal bowl and spoon when I mixed this. Came out perfectly 🤷🏾♀️
Wonderful color.. I'm planing to to same with my blond into this color and thank u for this video..
I use to do hena years ago before I was blond, my hair was black, and after using hena my hair was much stronger, longer and healthier.. I ve been using if for years ..
I looove how this turned out. I wanted this color a while ago, and I still think I’d like to try it.
The end result is literally my natural hair color
The color looks gorgeous on you girl! Work itt 😘😘
My hair is naturally this color but pool bleach and the sun have dulled out the color now it's like blondish I've been looking for this color forever and could not find it thank you😊😊
You suit this colour so much betterrrr it doesnt wash you out like the blonde did xxx
I really love the colour on you! and your style is so lovely, I love your tattoos and piercings
WOW You look absolutely gorgeous I wish my hair was light enough to do this
you look stunning :) the colour compliments your beauty!
i love how you say caca so gracefully HAHAHA
This color suits you so much! Looove it!
Lovely color!!! I can’t wait to get my Henna!!
Be careful if you try to lighten this again henna lifts unpredictably and can damage your hair or drive the color further into your hair
You look gorgeous in this shade 👌🏻💖
You look soooooo beautiful with red hair! Greeting from Czech Republic :)
Hi! Thank you so much xxx
I've done a strand test and love the result (it looks similar to yours) and am eager to put it on my entire head now!! Does the colour change much over 24 hours? Wondering if I should wait a day or just go for it thanks
wow, it looks really natural... maybe i sould try it
Did use it as well it did dry out my hair so badly that I stopped it and went back to normal colouring and it’s so much better
the colour suits you so well!! ❤
Can I bleach my hair before using henna? Because it would turn out darker on my natural hair color and i really love yours
Throw it in the food processor before water it’s a life/time saver!
While your hair looks absolutely gorgeous - that mess is terrifying! and after seeing the product melted I can see why they named the product "caca" lol
The result looks really natural on you!
Deine Haare sehen so gut aus 😍😍😍
I see, you speak English. You look beautiful, the colour looks so beautiful 😊
love the color, my hair is a medium strawberry blonde I wonder how bright it be.
Your hair turned out beautifully💕 but i heard that black henna causes burnes and stuff like that so I just wanted to know if it's ok Thx
