- From the album Silver Haze, out now on Sacred Bones Records.
Listen / purchase: lnk.to/SilverHaze
Directed by Jem Cohen
Silver Haze was produced by Randall Dunn, who has also worked with the likes of Sunn O))), Boris, Earth, Zola Jesus, and Marissa Nadler, all of whom are artists that SQÜRL cite as inspirations. The album enlists Charlotte Gainsbourg, Anika, and Mark Ribot as collaborators, resulting in a communal offering that shares an energetic lineage with the New York School of Poets.
Silver Haze expands on SQÜRL’s passion for creating rich textural sounds, finessed by a keen ear for production. The band is known for playing with everything from analogue synths to broken radios and pulling inspiration from painters, writers, and birds on the street. ‘Silver Haze’ is a poetic journey of spoken words, dynamic instrumentals, drone riffs and distorted effects, one that features tubular bells and a cello in addition to their signature stacks of delay, encircling the listener in a warm oscillation both delicate and devastating.

I love it and I'm very exited about the new album! The soundtrack to Only Lovers Left Alive is one of my favorites

Música independiente novedades.
Nice Earth vibes.
SQÜRL - Berlin '87 (Official Music Video) 2215pm 8.3.23 i was gonna say red sparrowes and yeah, the obligatory earth2 vibe... sacred bones - are these guys the rainbow fest dudes? - seem to be very derivative in their output... reminds me of ween's stance re: being professional karaoke performers in that those guys use to just perform songs in the style of this that or t'other musical combo... good, though. i should enjoy an album of this kindda schtick.
SHEAR demo 4ad insider!
Yes, very similar to Dylan Carlson's ideas, but with more of a fuzzy tone, and in E Standard.

Jim used an earth song in a movie… omens and portents#?: the driver… it has Bill Frisell on it on the reverse delay. Suuuuuper cool vibe. Must have inspired Jim to take it up himself.
The sound of entropy
It feels like the end of the world after you accept it. Its so cool
Lmao I just realise the second song literally called ‘the end of the world’ 💀
What in the black magic-
Como diría William Carlos William, estupendos sonidos que se adentran en el corazón para ser absorbidos por la densidad del placer.
This video was really unique but I like the heavy vibe it's like a scene out of James Bond 🔥💎💯
Был с мамой в Восточном Берлине в 1987 г. Первый раз увидел панков с ирокезами, попробовал киви...
Haunting ❤ so very glad to hear more from this pair.
Videography is better than music :)
ベルリンなのだがどこの国でもない様な風景…… 🌏
音楽と相まってただただカッコイイ🎸🎻
此処ではない何処かに連れてってくれる
Quite strange, cool and magical - just like Jim Jarmusch artefacts
Is this an electric guitar or bass?
Cool..Brothers🍺
Exciting. Music and video.
I think Jim's music is much more similar to Anna Von Hauswolf's than to Dylan Carlson's.
damn, jim. damn.
I found this video from the article in The Guardian. I've long enjoyed Jarmusch's films, I grok the outsider-with-sunglasses-at-night vibe just fine. But I frankly was surprised after reading Jim's quote "I just can’t listen to people shredding on a fucking electric guitar any more. That’s my new Auto-Tune. No blues-based shredding, please. I don’t want to hear that." to listen to this track.
I certainly respect everyone's right to make and listen to whatever music they like (and no doubt there are many admirers of SQÜRL), but I can also imagine some young dude in twenty years saying "I just can't listen to post-rock droning on and on any more. I don't want to hear that." Godspeed, Russian Circles, Mogwai, etc. have been making music like this for a very long time, so that dude's opinion must be just around the corner...
Video reminiscent of Wings of Desire (w/ the time and place, it would have to be).
It's funny how time to time a wave awashes you and you realize even more clearly that belka is you
Wow, it sounds like The Cat Pits! So great!
Beyond.
will the album be instrumental only..?
