@@92naz32 I never said anything about inserting a whole team like this. But, one marksman, and his rifle, moved to a overwatch position as part of a QRF (Quick Reaction Force), would be invaluable! Is he gonna save the day all by himself? No. But, he can buy time. And in an urban environment, he’d be hard to locate while slipping between buildings at speed. Remember that 121 years ago flying we flew 12 meters. After that we mounted cameras, guns, and bombs in them in the First World War. The we got even faster and could fly further. The Second World War came and we built planes that could carry 9,999 KG bombs, and ones that level city’s. We made the jet engine, and sent a man faster than sound. Although real-world-me definitely prefers the mountain rescue scenario, this demonstration sure goes under the skin of everyone that once dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot, a special ops something, watched Marvel Movies or Mandalorian etc. May it never have to be used as demonstrated here, but targeting the defence market with his potentially huge investments, inherent seriousness, special "rights" and unusual use cases makes sense! Amazing engineering with a consequently extraordinary achievement. Be mindful with what you use it for.

There is no viability. Only 3 people alive can fly it (including the inventor), and they are not taking in applicants. It's nothing more than a tethered experience for a few hours at their facility.
People saying it's tactically useless this is just the start. I can see the use it would have for the navy for example allowing SF to deploy onto enemy ships especially large ones for night time operations. It could be used to allow troops to deploy further forward than vehicles can. Cross rivers, also being able to gain height advantages for example simply flying and deploying to the top of buildings or inserting yourself onto the 50th floor within moments. Time will tell but remember it didn't even take a century from first flight to landing on the moon
Time to remove the jetpack after landing? Does a jetpack have an air chamber to prevent it from sinking? It is definitely advisable to have knee and elbow protection in addition to a helmet on your head. ... 😊
I've flown a waterjet backpack and hoverboard, and while they are fun as hell all these things are utterly impractical. Military applications are a joke, a person aboard one of these is best described as "Skeet." Slow, fat, noisy skeet.
Incorrect. Dynamic entry has nothing to do with stealth. We currently have divers swim up and climb onto ships to secure a landing zone, then a larger helicopter comes in with the real muscle. This is just the divers, except faster. The only reason this doesn't have a use in your head is because you don't understand real combat. If you're at the point where you're relying on chance and stealth, you've already failed.
If I ever become a pirate, these will not work on me or my crew......sorry....... A hard no for real time practical application for a hostile VBSS or GOPLAT...... Hard no.... But it does look cool for congress and potential recruits......or candidates.........
It feels like the Civilian application or govt. services in the Country will have a lot more useful applications. Is there any attempt on future changes to make the Pack smaller? or is it pretty much bare bones already?
Nope. They have tries for years and no contracts I'll take them. It's non-viable. Too dangerous, too loud, cannot take any more weight than your own body, requires thousands of hours to just get flying without tether, and has a flight time of around 20min.
There may be another application of this that might be used either for military or law enforcement where one mounts a pistol that can be remotely fired much the same way one mounts a selfie camera stick so that a jet packer could fly just over the front windshield of a speeding car where the pistol is then pointing downward at the driver where it could shoot through the windshield at the driver and then the jet packer could also have a sign mounted on that self stick that tells the driver to pull over and stop the vehicle with the gun pointed at the driver to incline the driver to so comply. This could be done in lieu of a high speed chase which puts others at high risk. Alternative the gun could be pointed so as to be able to shoot out a tire.
Rather defenseless when flying. Shoulder mounted Bullpup 556 with helmet targeting and firing system. Come in locked and loaded and on target if needed.
I mean, a paratrooper is "defenseless " too, as would be a modern military helicopter against an enemy that doesn't have vastly outdated tec. It's not like they are ever intended to fly right into a combat zone, but rather to get someone in a difficult to access position fast. I still think that one first aid/rescue operation they showed is the most practical application yet. But if I we trying to appeal to investors, I'd put a lot of effort into tacticool-military presentations too.
It would destroy your hearing in seconds without proper earpro. Also, the run time is around 20min. Only a handful of people can fly them, including the CEO.and inventor.
Is it cool? Absolutely! Is this practical for combat operations? Absolutely not, but our government will continue to waste our tax dollars on stupid shit like this.
If back in the day the WSO would write "I'M WITH STUPID" on a piece of paper to make fun of the pilot in front, now these guys can proudly carry the "I AM STUPID!" signs on them.
Nope. One fire team flies in, secures a landing zone, and a helicopter full of traditional troops lands. We currently do this with divers on the sea, This is no different, just faster.
This not suitable for infantry with on rifle. This is a support unit with MOUNTED MACHINE GUN Is A MUST. The tech will catch up for sure. But this is the only role it suit better in the future.
Absolutely astounding technology and implementation. I see the value for any mission, such as medical assistance for example, which doesn't expose the pilot to any "unfriendlies". I fail to see how this would work in a combat or police/SWAT situation though ? The noise certainly would eliminate any element of surprise and also expose the pilots to a lot danger. One bullet into the fuel tanks/engines and they could blow up - or am I not getting something ? Again - I really am in awe of these jet-suits, it is the applications I am not fully clear about (except medical, SAR, )
There is absolutely no way you can operate in a tactical environment with that rig on. You’d have to drop it as soon as you touch down. Cool af tho I’ll give them that
Would be too heavy to carry more than a small pistol. That's why the guns they are carrying in the video are light plastic. The demo is just a fun thing they do, it's not supposed to be a serious military application.
