Vietnams previous u23 generation from 2018 is the golden generation. The current Vietnamese senior team is in fact their golden generation and making history. Last place in final round of WCQ, but it’s the fact they qualified for for the final round. And gained 4 points, most from their region.

@@jackphillips6742 I mean, it is kinda faraway? But your team was fantastic during the match against Costa Rica, you would do well in AFC. It is a shame that the you guys have much more chance going to the World Cup via OFC spot though. The Pacific Island teams are generally so outmatched by NZ.
@@carnivorouscabbage2230 Pretty much anything east of India and south of China is a reasonable flight distance for international teams. Singapore could easily host a bunch of friendlies against New Zealand or between ASEAN and OCE countries in general. We are usually similar in strength to Australia since 2000, but ASEAN countries honestly could win more than people here might think. OFC clubs are nations are getting better but holy moly if our local confederation had European refs, there would be 5 red cards a game. Injuries are the biggest factor in OFC World Cup qualification, and frankly people think that qualifying is easier than it actually is. New Caledonia and Tahiti are mini-Frances, and the Solomons have some extremely talented players. I watch a lot of the NZ National and Regional Leagues, and we have plenty of goalkeepers and defenders that deserve to go pro in quality leagues. Especially some u23 talent like keepers Paulsen and Gray, but they don't get to play internationals because of limited fixtures. As a country we've gone to Lithuania and Ireland before 2020 for those two international friendlies. We don't really get many games outside OFC qualifying. 2 a year is like the average. I get that it is expensive, but we really need to get young talent that experience. It seems to be changing in a positive direction recently. Ty for watching the Costa Rica game. Tbf wish Peru defeated us again, Costa deserved it imo after CONCACAF but I do feel hard done by for the particular NZL vs CRC game.
@@jackphillips6742 I mean, the travel time from NZ to Singapore is around 11 hours or so, the same as from SEA to Europe. It is not insignificant by any mean, though as you mentioned the All White goes to Europe for training it should not be much difficult. The main takeaway though is how much actually can be gained from a friendly match. There is only so much that can be done in friendlies, and unless the players are actually challenged in a competitive environment even regular friendly matches will hardly be enough. ASEAN sides can put up a much, much tougher fight than Oceania teams, even top tier ones like PNG, NC or Tahiti (they might be decent, but compared to NZ their teams still lacking), but something at stake to fight for will provide a better incentive for players. One method could be to join AFF Champions and other SEA tournaments, but that might be problematic in its own way. Generally AFF Championship plays knock-out rounds in home-away format, which means that NZ team (or any team playing against NZ for that matter) will need to travel a very long distance.
South East Asia in general I believe is a massively underachieving region not just in football but in sports. At least Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand more than make up for it in badminton. Anything they play seem to have massive fan followings, especially if it's international level competition.

Nguyen quang hai. Probably the most talented player vietnam has produced in history, and will be the greatest viet player of all time if he succeeds in europe. He signed with a ligue 2 side in France few days ago. A very technical and smart player. However he’s been locked up in his Vietnamese club until now. You shouldn’t worry much about viet players linked to foreign clubs, because their domestic clubs usually don’t let them go. It is a problem. In 2019 quang hai received an offer from the japenese league. It was rejected. Now in 2022, his contract with Hanoi has ended, and he rejected Hanoi’s huge bribes to fulfill his dream of going to Europe. In the midst of a thousand European club rumors, his former foreign teammate in Hanoi ibou kebe spoke about how in that very year in 2019, Hanoi had a meeting with the whole team. Because quang hai wanted to leave. The club said everybody must honor their contract. And nobody can leave. This is a huge problem in Vietnamese football and NOBODY not even Vietnamese are talking or being angry about this when they should be. The players have no power. Clubs sign players to long term jail contracts and refuses to let them go to foreign clubs at a higher level for a reasonable price. Nguyen hoang duc, another Vietnamese player with interest abroad, unfortunately had his club come out and say they still need his services and will keep him. This is holding vietnams future back. The v league is a weak league. Quang hai must succeed in europe to change this.

I convinced a non footballer that vietnam is a good football nation. Man instantly thought on the levels of the Netherlands.... I said no, good for the south east asian region.
Showing love from the uk
OH MY GOOOOOOD
MAXWELL DIDNT SAY FOLLOW MY INACTIVE TWITCH FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 2 YEARS
Hey Max ! Can you do a video on Brunei Darussalam's journey? Though Brunei is not that well developed in terms of football but it would be an honor. Love your videos Max !

As a malaysian i am flabbergasted
Great video as always, just wondering who you'd prefer to win if the USA played Vietnam in the Women's World Cup next year?
I love those "underground" national teams rising and I hope I do the same with some national team from those countries, as a player, as a coach or as both
As a kiwi it pisses me off we don't play more games against SEA
We don't have African Americans that's why we suck at sports.
Hey maqwell can you please talk about the growth of the Saudi Arabian national team they qualified for the world cub which is impressive I just want you to talk about us becauseeee ya know I’m from Saudi Arabia so love from the Middle East for u maqwell
Maqwell have you heard of the RUclipsr called ryan anderson if so can you collaborate with him?
sad part is these player chance at clubs is even lower because most of those clubs are stacked with better players who are older more experience.
And the lack of activities during transfer windows (clubs only sign free agents and loan out players to lower sides)
southeast asian football is on the rise, nations like thailand, vietnam, indonesia and us malaysia are doing quite well and i believe will be better eventually, maybe the philippines too, despite not qualifying for the asian cup
I used to say Vietnamese football is f***ed after the generation that is playing for the national team. It turns out that isn’t the youngsters are sh*t,but Park Hang-seo’s attacking play is like a headless chicken. With nearly the same team that played in SEA Games, they turned from V-League reject to rising stars.
let's gooo vietnam's football maqwell
4:30 🥹❤️
Yo maqwell can you talk about the san Marino team of Africa aka Somalia

Hey Max, are there any Vietnamese players that are being liked with moves to Europe, that we should look out for?
there's Quang Hai, the best player in VNese NT right now, who is being linked with a League 2 club
@@nkwan4848 *Ligue 2 (France)
Be careful tho
Indonesian used to have those "golden generation" who won the best trophy in u-21 and u-23
Then flopped with senior teams
Vietnam already has a golden generation. It’s the current senior team, what are you talking about
@@soccerball8503 bcs the topic about this video is vietnam u-23 team, not the senior team
@@ericaugusto758 the senior team is made up of the previous u23 generation. Who made the afc u23 finals and semi finals of Asian games. It was a better u23 generation than this current u23 generation. (Unless they prove otherwise)
Maxwell will you do ligue 2 twitch streams for quang hai games
Max can you make rise and fall and rise again of Malaysia.
Quang Hai looks good in Ligue 2
