Lived in Bakersfield in those days, and we drove by the loop all the time. Miss Southern Pacific, you could still see SP branded stuff for years afterwards. Love the Santa Fe Yellow Bonnets and War Bonnets. You could tell all the SP locomotives were dog eared and dirty, but the Santa Fe Locomotives were for the most part clean, and this wasn’t easy in oil country.
