- I've decided to do a video on my experience with Ditto Music as my music distributor.
Unfortunately I am disappointed with their customer service and the speed with which they send my music to stores.

I hope you resolved. And found a good distributor. CD Baby are not bad at deadlines, two singles met the deadline. Although our EP came out a day late. However the thing I like about CD Baby is that your music stays up forever. So if you cannot afford that yearly subscriptions with your music distributor, you don't have to worry. Your songs will not get deleted.
Recessions hit us all and in today's world the powers that be make it very hard for people to get by. The cost of living keeps going up, but wages stay stagnant.
@ButterflyLullabyLtd Thank you for your valuable comment. Since posting this video, I went with Distrokid but then switched to Tunecore mainly for economical reasons as you pointed out. Distrokid want you to pay extra for some features that Tunecore offers within the subscription fee. I have not tried CD Baby but I believe their model is different. They take a cut out of your royalties. Which is why they don't remove the songs I suspect.
I am experiencing some of the same issues.
How did you output the files into the right format... i am using audacity and cant find the " 1411 kbps (bitrate)" that they recommend...?
Hi Daniel. I believe that when you set your project in Audacity as 44100 Hz and 16-bit when extracting your file as wav, this should be saved as 1411 kbps. Does that make sense?

i know how to switch the music form ditto to distrokid, but the problem is how to switch the music videos i distributed through them to vevo to distrovid. any help?
Its the same thing with us with the review. In 2021 we released an Best of Album that sat in review at ditto for one whole year. After we contacted our CD Distributor they helped us out for free this time for getting the release out digital asap but damage was done.

@@bartekpiwonskiofficial suprisingly we dont have these problems with singles, only EPs or Albums. So we onl go with them for singles and with CDBaby for Albums.
@@VSDeluxe OK. That's an interesting approach to take. In my case, it was both albums and singles that never were sent to stores early.

Hello Bartek. I have reported Ditto Music to Trading Standards. I highly recommend that you do the same. Trading Standards might not resolve our issues with Ditto Music, but a black mark will be left on the Trading Standards' case file for Ditto Music. Please tell other musicians who have had problems with Ditto Music to do the same. Kind regards - Paul
Hi Paul. That's not a bad idea at all. I have actually had more issues with them when ending my subscription. Just felt a bit hopeless and exhausted with it to make another video.
@@bartekpiwonskiofficial I'm going through an awful situation with them, which I won't mention here. Trading Standards might not be able to help us directly, but we should build a Trading Standards case file on Ditto Music to help future musicians who have problems with the company. Ditto Music are such an awful company, they haven't even signed up with an Ombudsman, so Trading Standards is the only organisation that I know of to file complaints with. I also feel exhausted dealing with Ditto Music, they are a bunch of cowboys.

@@SuperPaulLouis Thank you. I appreciate it. It's also reassuring to know that I'm not the only one who has had this experience. Also tackling these types of things as a community of musicians makes sense because it can make you feel powerless when you're on your own against a big company.
@@bartekpiwonskiofficial Agreed, Ditto Music seem to make-up the rules as they go along, our community is crucial for getting a fair deal. There needs to be some form of regulation, where it would be mandatory for a music distribution company like Ditto Music to sign-up with an Ombudsman for customer protection. Contacting our members of parliament to act on it might help. However, something tells me that would be a long road to go down, but possibly worth it. I hope your issues with Ditto Music are resolved sooner rather than later. Hang in there bud!

Hi bro im from india 🇮🇳 i use cd baby till 3 year but there is one problem related content id on RUclips when i get license my any track it work in beginning but after few days if some one copy my song then automatic claiming is stop working an they didn’t give any revenue claim on that copy video than i have to mail cd baby then they claim it manually on it an this take 3 week . Is this problem also with ditto or with distrokid?
I don't pay for content id with Distrokid at present so I couldn't tell you. So do you have many people using your songs on RUclips? I have made this video about content id: ruclips.net/video/QhTGuHk2_-M/видео.html

Thanks a lot for this video. I'm a begginer producer who wanted to look more deeply into distributors. Distrokid and ditto caught my attention and by the look of it Ditto had more feature than distrokid. But im glad im watching your video right now. I didnt know their customer services are *that* bad. I thought it was just rumours and they couldve improved but no as your experience suggested it. I will check tunecore-routenote-distrokid little bit more. But it seems most stable one is distrokid. Very straight forward to use. I will consider musician plus on distrokid since after that i could make a release date for my songs.
Let me know your thoughts if you changed your distribution services or you are stil struggling with ditto.

Thanks very much for your comment. I'm glad that you have found my video helpful. I haven't changed yet but I think that I will go with Distro Kid. Apparently their upload time is 2 to 5 days. You still keep all your royalties just like with Ditto. I hope that the process of transferring my tracks will be a straightforward one. I will update you on here and will probably make another video once I have been with a new distributor for a while.

@@WHITE_DRAGON.OFFICIAL What I mean is that if I set a release date say 5 weeks in advance and a distributor sends my tracks to the stores in 5 days, then I still have 4 weeks and 2 days to do my pitching to playlists.

@@niteshtripvlog2536 Thank you for your question. I didn't use the content id option with Ditto and I haven't got it with Distrokid as of yet so I am unable to comment. In Distrokid you have to pay extra for it. Is it the same with CD Baby?

yeah, they never deliver your music on time, so you are not able to pitch your music up to Spotify. My account is blocked, they didn't register my payment, three tickets in about three weeks, but no response. I think the best music distribution company is the one that has a real and good Support Team. There's no way to communicate with Ditto. No phone, email, just tickets, that they don't respond to. What do you think about Distrokid ? or CD Baby is the most expensive one but it looks like you get what you pay with Ditto.
I'm switching over to Distrokid and I will be making a video on how that goes. I have heard negative opinions about CD baby so I don't want to risk it. I'm sorry to hear about your account being blocked and the problems you've been having with Ditto. It's absolutely awful.

@@MidnightRabbit I'm pretty sure that I've watched a video of someone not being happy with cd baby, although I don't want to make unfounded claims so I will see if I can find it. Perhaps it was more to do with pricing rather than service itself. I have read on Distrokid's website that it is a straightforward process to move everything over and that Spotify etc. should keep everything untouched. I intend to test this in practice as soon as this weekend and make a video of my experience which I will be posting soon after.

@sjk9g I did. I initially moved my music to Distrokid but then changed to Tunecore. The reason for it was that there were a lot of 'hidden fees' with Distrokid. Their speed of uploads was super fast though.
I am struggling with royalties from Ditto

I have been trying to ask for a payout from ditto, it as been pending ever since last year (2022) September till to-date, they say they are still trying to verify if I am the owner of the account.
I release my new EP with Ditto.So far it seems ok for me.I make my own original music.I will let you know from time to time

Exact same situation right now. I need someone not based in the US cause the tax crap they make outsiders do is ridiculous. I'm going to try iMusician. Amuse was garbage. Ditto support was good until you pay them money.

Am an independent artist From South Africa 🇿🇦 Currently using Ditto Music as my distributor
i can say based on your video you actually showed what i have experienced with Ditto Music. But the funny fact is that when you follow them like sending emails, commenting on their social media posts they recognise you then they eventually start to take you seriously.
I sent my single on the 4th of December 2022 and i had delays because they said my track has an error of ‘ending abruptly’ but i did fix it then thats whenmy track has been waiting on the review stage forever its only been now on the 29th of January that its being sent to stores with a release date of the 4th of February
I personally thank You for the Honest Review because at first i thought Ditto did not have such delays and problems people have been talking about but now that i have seen i can support your Review.
