My people are meat eaters, but I am working my way through a cancer issue and was having trouble finding food I can eat. The cancer has me on a restricted diet, this is exactly what I needed, a high protein food of some sort, and I came across this. Thank you, I have found a food that I can really enjoy and not break my dietary restrictions.
I've tried a number of vegan burgers and your lentil-based recipe is the best! I used coconut aminos in place of maggi, omitted the Italian herbs and added nutritional yeast, smoked paprika, cooked mushrooms and ketchup. Thank you!
I made these for dinner tonight. I had a few stumbles along the way. I usually just make written recipes, this was my first RUclips recipe, and I neglected some of the parts of the video (like chilling the mixture for 2 hours). I didn’t grind them as smooth as the video shows but I preferred seeing the lentils in the burger. Overall it’s a very tasty and super filling burger. As the meat eater among us said ‘it’s a great burger and I like thats it’s not actually trying to be meat’. The thing I liked best was that the patty stayed quite firm, usually when I have scratch made veggie burgers they smash into a paste that falls apart. Overall this got thumbs up from all 3 Alpha Es. Thanks for sharing.
What you could do if you like to see some lentils in the burgers is to leave some out , instead crushing all at once so you could add it back to the recipe.
I haven't tried oats in my legume burgers. Next batch... To keep the burger from being mush inside I spread the cooked lentils on a baking tray pop them into a 325F oven for 15 minutes. Then I grab the potato masher. My legume burgers are very rustic... I sautée the other vegetables before adding them to the mix .. I also crust the burger with cornmeal.
I love how you explain everything in a very simple and detailed manner and that’s how I am going to be making my lentil burgers because the ingredients are simple and easy to find in the stores.
Finally the ingredients I can find in my local Market. You are doing a great job man. This channel is so underrated. I'm pretty sure this will boom really soon.🔥😍
Lol yeah no kidding, usually these things require some formally poisonous plant found only in the Peru rain forest that had to already pass through a tree weasels ass to kill the poisons.
I saw this video first thing in the morning and was happy to find out that i have all the ingredients in my pantry and fridge. The steps are simple to follow, i had trouble getting my kitchen aid blender to blend the dry mixture in the beginning and was worried a bit but after adding the lentils it worked perfectly well. The result was something that totally satisfied my taste buds and very filling as well. I would totally be happy if they serve me this at a vegan restaurant. Thank you for making my day(s)!!❤❤❤
I made these veggie burgers and everyone loved them. I used ground cumin and a fresh jalapeño. They turned out great. I doubled the amount and put the cooked burgers in freezer. They were delicious! Thank you!
I just made these for dinner and LOVED them. The fact that they're baked is terrific since I don't do oils. These are easy and really delicious. Thanks so much!
@@jeremiahbrown594 just not added oils apart from natural source. Eat the whole olives, nuts, avocados, not the extracted oils, if you want excellent heart health that is.
Nice job Greg explaining the differences of the lentils and what they bring to this particular dish. I like Maggi because of the amino acids it lends to food. These burgers it looks great.
These must be some fantastic vegan burgers! Nice combination of ingredients here! I'm sure they're super satisfying and so flavourful! Excellent video and recipe!
I'm gonna have to give these a shot! My issue with most plant based burger recipes (and I have tried SO many!) is that they get super gummy! By the end of the burger, it's usually a gluey mess of bun and burger paste. These look like they'll avoid that pitfall. Really excited to try these. Thank you!
This turned out pretty good. I know what you mean about the gumminess. This one had a good texture and didn't fall apart. Let me know how it turns out for you.
I can't wait to try to make this burger patties in the future, thank you so much for sharing such contents!!! Please share more vegan meat based videos, I would really like it!!!
Came for the channel name, stayed for the recipe, nice! I put walnuts in lots of stuff, too ( 20 year vegan ) for the omega 3. Sometimes tske out a bit of stock from soup etc and blend it to a cream with walnuts to swirl back in, also olive oil and walnuts blended to a mayo with a dash of vinegar, salt....
Definite,y going to try these lentil burgers although I’m allergic to nuts but will make them for my grand daughter who is vegetarian. May set aside one third of the mix without nuts for myself.
Just found your channel. It looks like you may no longer be posting. Sad 😢. Love your channel, recipes, instructions, informative …thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏👏
Yes, I have also just found your channel and I intend making these today. No onion power, will have to look into what this is but don’t believe it will be detrimental to the recipe. I may even add some dried garlic that I have. Thank you.
looks very yummy. i like to use a plant based paste thing like this instead of meat sometimes. i used beans with carrots for it once but i forgot how i made it. i will save this for future use
I'd use the base with: mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and a lot of basil! I love these veggie burgers cause I can use so much of my herbs, like cilantro, for instance. Double win cause it detoxes heavy metals from the body.
If, like me, you find walnuts somewhat bitter, I learned soaking them in cold water overnight helps. These look great! Thank you as I'm always looking for plant based proteins as I have a family history of Cancer and need to avoid the igf-1 in meat.
I wish I have found that channel earlier! Your videos are awsome! I realy like how the recepies are presented, not to long, speeded up if needed, slow when critical and important steps happen and sticked with valuable informations!! Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much. I'm glad they turned out well for you! The resting period really helps the oats to hydrate well and make a better texture.

That’s a good idea. I love cumin in anything.
Thank you for the help in demystifying the different types of lentils. I did not realize that brown and orange lentils had the same origin.
Yes, the "crimson" brown lentils and the red lentils are the same. There are other varieties too like French Green Lentils and more.
I just made these for dinner and LOVED them. The fact that they're baked is terrific since I don't do oils. These are easy and really delicious. Thanks so much!

Thanks. There are so many different legumes and I know I got them all confused back when I started cooking with them.
Mmmmm.nice msg too

Would love to see the recipe for the buns! The burgers look great! Nice video, Greg!
Thanks. I’ll work on a good video for the buns. The dough I make is very versatile.
once you make your own buns you will never go back:) to shop bought buns
I'm 44 seconds into the video and just wanted to stop to say how much I am looking forward to the rest. Got me right a way.

What a great burger, nice texture, fry onions with bbq sauce and pickle some cucumber with vinegar, sugar and salt, well worth it
Thanks.
When making patties use your measure cups eg.1/3 cup measure makes easier.
Love this recipe..Use a plate to cover in fridge saves alfoil.
Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated.
These are amazing, I'll add different seasonings depending on my mood, adding liquid smoke is a must!
Thanks. Yes, you can change it up however you like and I'm sure it will turn out well.

Try a rice, oat, tofu mix. They hold together perfectly and no mushiness that legumes cause.
