Hi guys! This is was originally a Pilot for my Harry Potter Book reviews over on the patreon made back in Febuary, and it went really well! There are already more chapter reviews over on the Patreon right now to enjoy if you wish pledge (there is no minimum amount & you also get access to the Full Length Movie reactions). Just a couple of notes - * I had only just seen Order of the Phoenix when recording * I got feedback that the background music was a lil too loud so fixed that for future reviews * The reviews definitely get longer! XD You can join the discussion and even get your comments read out in future chapter reviews over on the Patreon, as part of the Harry Potter Book Club!

There’s actually an actor who read through ALL of the books in 2020 on Instagram live/RUclips named John Voth. He posted all of the videos on RUclips and is a GREAT listen. He does voices for each character and most comments are that he did a much better job than all the audio books. His playlist is backwards so I created my own. This is fantastic to hear!! I've tried following numerous book club/discussion series on RUclips like this for different series and they've always stopped shortly after starting because "the views" aren't "high enough." I really hope you continue with them, and really hope you enjoy continuing to read the books! :)
@@zachedwards6006 I watched these in the live streams in 2020. They really are wonderful! Thanks for making a playlist with them in the correct order!!!
About the hair thing - I always thought that he just had naturally unruly hair (without any magic, just was born like this), and Petunia at some point just shaved him bald. And of course Harry thought that everyone at school will laugh at him because of it and was very afraid of the next day. That's where the magic kicked in and his hair grew back. So he wasn't using magic just to keep his hairstyle a certain way because he liked it, but simply because he eas very afraid and embarassed. It's in line with all of his other accidental usages of magic - it happened every time he was experiencing some strong emotion
Also - I guess a useful consequence of hair growing back might be that it could cover his scar to keep his identity safe from magic folk who might go looking for him in his pre-Hogwarts life, outside of his Aunt's protection. But generally his hair doesn't seem to do a great job at that.
@@quirkyjoeAnimated yeah petunia shaved off most of his hair but kept the fringe to hide the scar, so the haircut was painfully bad and embaresing for him until accidental use of magic comes in to save the day :)
Fun fact about this though, too: Harry most likely does also just have EXTREMELY unruly hair, because it runs in the family. James Potter’s father (Harry’s grandfather), Fleamont Potter invented Sleekeaszy’s Hair Potion (which Hermione claimed to have used to tame her mane before the Yule Ball). I think we can assume that this was an invention of necessity, and that Fleamont, James, and Harry all come by their messy hair naturally. ;)
@@KagariAsuha I did not realize Sleekeaszy's was invented by Harry's grandfather. I remember Hermione mentioned using it, but said it was simply too much effort to do every day.
I think the man calling Vernon a muggle to his face is just because of how excited he was. The darkest, most evil wizard in maybe hundreds of years has just been defeated and the war is over, people are gonna be breaking a few rules to celebrate 😅
About Sirius Black - he was caught after the encaunter with Hagrid, so Hagrid didn't know that Black is a villain. That was a great foreshadowing for the events to come, I think.
Yes, wasn't he ditching the motorbike because he was known to have it and it would attract too much attention? He knew he was going to have to go on the run soon.
@@Anna-B I know. I was just refering to a specific conversation, wich happens differently in the movies, where Hagrid explains about the night he rescued Harry and his encounter with Sirius. There are a lot of small and big details left out of the movies, and experiencing them for the first time is the part of the joy ;)
Can we take a moment and give some appreciation to the points this guy picks up on? I don't want to get too specific, as some stuff comes up in the last movie, but his instincts are so good! Also, great memory. Mrs. Figg is such a small character in the movie, for example, I love that you remembered her right away when you see her in book 1.
i agree! i really appreciate him taking the time to really understand it. i've seen many other people's reaction videos on other channels where they just watch the movies and move on without asking any questions or trying to learn more. love seeing him enjoying it!
Interesting take on the bedroom change. I always felt that it was because they didn't want people to think they were mistreating Harry by keeping him under the stairs and so that's why they moved him to Dudley's second bedroom. Great video. Keep it up please. 🙂
I also think that they gave Harry the second bedroom so they wouldn't be judged for treating him badly, Because after the first letter came it was clear for them someone was watching, spying them and they tried to fix at least some issues to looks more prudent... 🤔
@Gavin, I always thought the same. It seems like the first letter arrives and is addressed to Harry in the cupboard under the stairs and Vernon and Petunia wonder if/realize that if they aren’t being watched, the wizard folk at least know what’s going on. It scares them and makes them nervous so, in an effort to seem less like they’re mistreating him, they move Harry to the smallest bedroom. It always made me think of people cleaning their houses before CPS comes over to check on the kids.
Okay final thoughts as of finishing the episode: very happy. All the reasons ive been loving yoyr movie reacts shine through here too, you just seem to actually care and wanna pay attention unlike alot of people, i imagine its alot of work listening to two versions of each chapter and taking notes, basically a book report, but man its really really engaging because i can sit through the chapter your on before you go through your notes and so on. 3 chapters feels like a good amount per episode, of course that would probably vary based on length of chapters but for medium length chapters yeah 3 feels pretty good.
Minerva says in the first chapter "people are acting crazy with parties. Out on plain site. Even the muggles are noticing" hence why people noticed stuff
Stephen Fry tells the story that he was having trouble with the phrase "Harry pocketed it.". He actually asked J K Rowling if he could say "put it in his pocket" instead. She not only said no but she put the same phrase in every book thereafter. 😀
I struggled with it when reading the books to my daughter too 🤣😂 that phrase, and saying "edited it" (not that I think that one came up in the book). Those are so difficult for me!
@@Lia-uf1ir as a writer, I like eliminating filler words and using strong verbs. I prefer "Harry pocketed it" because a sentence like "Harry put it in his pocket" is so clunky - it's six words instead of three (two of them referring to Harry) and the verb is weak ('put' instead of 'pocketed'). If you used filler words and weak verbs with every sentence, the books would be twice as long for no good reason.
Actually there is one moment in the third chapter I really love - Duddley asking Harry - who want's to talk to you that much? With real curiosity, without bullying. I think it is the only normal conversation they have until the Deathly Hollows pt 1...
At the point that Hagrid got the motorcycle from Sirius they had just found Harry, James and Lily. Sirius didn't go after Peter until after Hagrid left. The thing with refusing to use Voldemort's name in the beginning WAS due to fear. That doesn't change until after Half-Blood Prince.
Muggles are able to see magic, but for things like the knight bus, platform 9¾ and the hogwarts castle itself, charms are in place to stop them from doing so. (much like the protective spells hermione casts in the forest during deathly hallows) As for wizards exposing the magical word, it is monitored closely by the ministry, muggles who have seen magic will have their memories erased (obliviate charm). In the prologue however, the most evil, darkest wizard has just fallen so the rules are just a bit lax as everyone in the whole wizarding world is celebrating with out a care in the world.
IIRC McGonagall says something to Dumbledore about owls in daylight and shooting stars and Dumbledore basically blows her off saying "just let them have fun"
JKR is queen of dropping random names and then several books later they become really important. Her world-building is amazing. The first and second movies are mostly quite faithful to the books, but from the 3rd book onwards, they are much bigger so the movies have to cut more out; they're going to be a very different experience! It's so fun to see someone reading these for the first time. There's a podcast I like listening to (Real Weird Sisters if anyone's interested), but they've read the books before so are analyzing them in full knowledge of the whole series. This is going to be a quite different perspective. I don't even remember how I reacted to the books the first time. I remember some parts, but not all. I was 4 when the first book came out, and I started reading them at 7. By then 4 books were out and the first movie which we videotaped when it played over Christmas. The movies would always come out in July because that's Harry's birthday, and it's my birthday too so it was like a special birthday gift every year. The second movie was my first theater experience of live-action. In fact, I hated watching live-action before HP, I would only watch cartoons. My grandmother brought me to watch Chamber and she was terrified (she hates spiders and snakes). The 5th book was a Christmas present, we were visiting my cousins and after I was given it I just sat in a corner and read and refused to play with my cousins lol. (In fairness, the beginning of that book is the most captivating to date) And I remember seeing the PO addresses for the main cast in a magazine and writing to all of them. Daniel Radcliffe sent me back a handwritten letter with a signed photo taken on set of Goblet which they were filming at the time, and Robbie Coltrane sent me back an autograph too. And the last movie came out just after my 16th birthday and they were playing John Williams' Harry Potter score from the first movies in the whole village on speakers, it was so nostalgic, and I cried non-stop through the entire movie because I was so sad it was finally over. What a ride that story was, so formative to my childhood, never experienced anything else like it, feel like I never will.
I'm sad to hear "You might think I'm stupid but...". Your personal head-canons and ideas are amazing to hear!! It only builds on the world and gets us thinking in different ways about something we absolutely love! Don't worry, friend. I hope to hear more of those "wrong" understandings and interpretations.
Yes, you are right. The wizards went way overboard with their presence at the beginning (so much that even Muggels like Vernon noticed xD). Usually they would not show themselves without their Muggle disguises, but you have to understand that the reign of terror of Voldemort just ended and they were almost drunk with joy. Everyone was celebrating. Some so much so, that even McGonagall commented on it, I remember. It may sound harsh, but Voldemort was killing people left and right during his reign. James and Lily barely mattered in this scale (especially because barely anyone knew of the prophecy). They were mourned, but just like everyone else was mourned.
The only people who wouldn't feel like celebrating in this situation would have been those who personally knew the Potters. To them, it would have been bittersweet, losing friends but knowing the reign of terror was ended.
JK Rowling mentioned that she had intended Voldemort to be pronounced in the French, but the movies made it so everyone used the -t. Some things are simply not under the control of the writer.
Great format, love it. Maybe turn the music down a touch. I love revisiting the books and it's cool to talk about the differences between the books and the movies
Thank you so much for doing this, I fell in love with the books. You're one of the few to have revived the books after your reaction. Your videos have been wonderful and help me to train my English.
I took it that when "you know who" was defeated the wizards were so excited that they were not as careful as normal and also I had a feeling that most wizards don't generally have any dealing with muggles and so they really don't understand that muggles actually don't know about the wizarding world. It would be like if when WW1 ended people were all excited but the majority of people didn't even know there had been a war....
I think you're doing a wonderful job covering the gist of every chapter and sharing your thoughts. Personally, I would've liked to watch you react to the audiobook in real time but that's probably a very time consuming commitment so I'm happy with this format
Thanks Sparrow! Really appreciate the feedback! Yeah listening / reacting was something I was considering, but they would be very look and if I edit them, pretty confusing probably XD Glad you like the format of this!
And there'd have been copyright restrictions on the audiobook, as there are with the films, so we'd only have got about 10-minutes'-worth - would have meant an awful lot of vids to get the whole thing in!
Totally makes sense although I would adore if maybe ya filmed yourself listening and then if there was a fun moment here or there of ya cracking up or really admiring a certain part of how the inflections are read, or an exciting detail missed in the movies and then you could show those few nugget clips either at the very beginning or end of the video as a little treat montage. It’s my fav part of your movie reactions seeing you so excited :)
Thank you soooo much for reading the books and commenting on them! That is seriously amazing. I understand why people choose to only watch the movies, but man, you miss so much detail! It's so nice to see you genuinely care enough to listen to them on audio! You're gonna be amazed by everything you learn!
I can’t express how happy I am to see someone doing a video review of these books! I loved your movie reviews of this series, of course, but my heart has always, and WILL always, be with the books- in my opinion, there’s no comparison. Thank you so much for sharing your journey through this series with us!
About Harry's hair - they naturally grow in this way, always looking a bit messy. My son has the same problem - you can't tame his hair, even a Professional hairdresser can't, they simply grow that way. Aunt petunia tried to make him look a bit more "prudent", but her way of doing so ended up so badly, Harry spent all night worrying how othetrs will laugh at him at school next day, so his hairs grew back. It was just another case of his Magic expressing itself without his counciousness...
Well, she cut most of it off, except his fringe. If she'd cut it level, it might have been okay, but no, apparently she had to hide Harry's scar and shave most of the rest off.
Hagrid was the last one to see Sirius before he "murdered" all the mugles/which of couse was Peter. The only reason Hagrid did not react to him, was that he did not know Sirius was the Potters secret keeper
@@denizkenger52 I am pretty sure he says in the book that he did not know Sirius was the secret keeper. I think only Dumbledore did, because Lupin was not told before book 3 by Sirius himself who the secret keeper was
@@denizkenger52 if he had known the night he got harry that sirius was the secret keeper he would also had known Sirius betrayed them. Instead he was kind and tried to calm Sirius down
You are the first reactor who I have seen react to the books. So excited for this series and to see you compare the books the the movies. Thank you for all your energy and passion you have put into this series. I feel like I can enjoy this series for the first time all over again with you! Ps.. behind the scene info not in the books... Harry's family has so much money because his ancestors invented sleek easy hair taming potion (probably because of the hair) and it makes an appearance in goblet when Hermione go's to the ball!
Loved it! Just recently found your channel, but I think you are doing quite wonderfully 😊 I love the movie reactions and I am always so impressed with your knowledge of all the actors! I think this is great the books are so good and I can't wait for you to listen to them. I will be watching all the book reactions as well. I think the format is great 👍 Cheers from Denmark 🇩🇰
This is great. Please continue with these reviews. Even if you only want to concise them to one review per book. It's great to hear what you think about the differences between the books and films.
As much as I like Fry and I have listened to both I think Jim Dale's version is just objectively the better listen his voices are better and more varied for each character and the overall listening experience is more enjoyable in my opinion. however, neither are a pain to listen to some narrators are quite monotonous and that is not the case with either of them. In the plus Catagory for Jim Dale he has won 2 Grammy and recieved 7 Grammy nominations as well as, 7 Audie Awards, 2 Benjamin Franklin Awards, and 7 AudioFile Earphone Awards for his work on Harry Potter series .
You now know that you were on to something with the not saying Voldie's name thing. At the beginning of the series, it was just out of fear. But towards the end, the death eaters/death eater controlled Ministry put a taboo on the name, and made it so that saying the name broke all defensive spells and made you instantly trackable.
Wow! I was so waiting for this from the first announcement! About the wizards acting too visible for muggles - Professor Mcgonagal explains it in the same chapter while talking to Dumbledore. They are just a bit too excited about you-know-who disapearance. And the man hugging Mr Durslay and calling him a muggle is, if I am not wrong, Dedalus Diggle, the same wizard who once greeted Harry on the street, and the one who greeted Harry in the leaky couldron and was so excited about that. Thank you for this video, I can't wait for more!
I don't think it's ever confirmed anywhere but I also always assumed it was Dedalus. After all, we know he's excitable and lives in the area, so it makes sense. I've seen some people theorize it was Flitwick, though he's short I can't imagine him being that careless as a professor...
Great reaction! Love your HP content! I've seen a couple people point out some but not all of this: (a) the wizards are just beyond excited about the death of an awful tyrant who terrified them, and McGonagall comments on their foolishness (b) Diggle is a recurring character, noticeable by his purple top hat (c) Only a few people knew Sirius was Secret Keeper, and only the Potters, Sirius and Wormtail knew that wasn't the case. When the Potters died, Sirius went straight to Godric's Hollow to see for himself. He met Hagrid there - we hear more about their encounter in book 3 so I won't elaborate. Notice, though, that when Hagrid mentions Sirius, Dumbledore immediately asks if there was trouble - he thinks at this point that Sirius was the traitor and dangerous. (d) The Voldemort name thing is fear here. But... read and find out more. (e) Vol in French can meant flight or theft. de mort means of/from death. So, theft of death or flight from death. Pretty clever considering what we learn in Half Blood Prince about Riddle's activities.
This gave me an excuse to do a read-along with you. It was so fun having you see the new bits that were left out of the movie. I think it was best to have watched the movie first and read the books after. This way you got to enjoy the magic of the movies without having to compare it to anything AND you get to read the books and get extra scenes and storylines as a treat.
This is by far the best book breakdown format i've seen on RUclips. Congratulations, It is really good. Hope for all the other chapters =DD If you wish to include a 4th for 40min video i wouldnt mind
I wish i could read those books for the first time :) I don't think I will ever get tired of seeing someone being emerged in this universe for the first time. Your attention to detail is everything ❤️
I had the Stephen Fry version of the first book on cassette tape 😁 Loved it, listened to it so many times, I should listen to it again, it's been so many years! Love this format by the way, I think it works very well! Looking forward to future chapters!
Just watched all your RUclips Buffy so far, all the Very Potter Mucisals and then sat down with a coffee to listen to this review. Not only is this just absolutely delightful because of the content but hearing Oblivion music in the background was such a nice little bonus. Love love love your stuff! Absolutely brilliant!
I really really really love your Harry Potter movie reactions and I’m so glad that you’re doing the book reactions as well. I had two questions, what audiobook narrator did you decide to listen to? And when were you going to post deafly Hallows part two? 😊
Haha thanks Shamreaz! - 1) BOTH! - I make notes to Dale, and write my chapter summaries to Fry. :) 2) Hopefully this weekend! Can't believe it's the last one already!!
According to JK Rowling "Volde-more" is actually how she intended it to be pronounced and was surprised that almost everyone else added the T on the end. I still use the T myself.
Very interesting. Lots of small things were left out of the movies as you are discovering but basically, the first three movies were close to the book. Once you get to the fourth book you will find that the movie covered the basics but there is one hell of a lot more happening. A major part of the book was the popular media destruction of Dumbledore and Harry which hardly made it to the movie yet provides the core for the fifth movie!
I love that you're doing the books! I wasn't sure what to think about you knowing the movies already before reading the books but I kinda like it. You're able to pick up on some things because you know most of the characters and a lot of the story. Usually I'd say the first re-read is the most fun because there are all these little things, foreshadowings, characters being mentioned and so on that one can pick up on. You'll still miss a lot of those, just because so much stuff was left out of the movies, but some you'll be (and already have been) able to pick up 😊 I can't wait for you discussing the rest of the series!
OMG, Jim Dale was in Pete's Dragon!?!? I didn't know that. Now I feel the need to listen to his reading again. Pete's Dragon was one of my favorites as a kid, watched it a few months ago and was shocked at how dark the story actually is... Thank you for using that thumb for Jim.
I love this, I wish more reactors would do this with the Harry Potter series because there is such a contrast between the movies and the books. And that would be my only note, is to do a little more contrast between the portrayal of events in the book vs. how it was represented in the movie. And maybe if its not too much editing to add some example clips from the films, while you explain the differences. All that said, I have thoroughly enjoy all the movies reactions, and am looking forward to continuing this journey with you through the books.
I love this! Love watching people discover more of the magic in the books. The wizards are ment to hid there magic however at the defeat of tom riddle they all break magical law to celebrate not having to go through everything they went through which is similar in the 6th and 7th book of hiding and watching family members die.
I loved this!!! You did so good! I think you did a wonderful job with the notes and writing everything down. My only concern would be more chapters in a video but it seems like you only addressed that! =D You’re doing great keep up the good work! Can’t wait for the next one
I’m glad you’re reading Harry Potter! I’m subscribing purely for Harry Potter! I’ve only experienced Harry Potter through Jim Dale (and the movies of course). I literally can’t remember my first time reading it, I was too young
Glad you’re doing the films first and then the books. Makes it so much easier to visualize things and have all the locations, characters, voices, spells etc. in your head when you read the books. I’ve found that most of the ones who do books first end up being pretty angry people who just slate and slate and slate the films. Whereas this way you’ve got the whole world and characters fresh in your head and you’re getting bonus content not in the films
Love the video, so excited to see your thoughts as the books progress! This is my comfort series and it’s nice to watch someone not only watch the movies, but then also put in the effort of reading the books. 🙂
Fabulous, I've so been looking forward to these! In fact, I've got my mum to send my HP books to me from the other side of the world (I'm a Kiwi, living in England), just so I can read them again along with you... It's been a few years now since I last read them! Anyways, love the video, keep it up :) (Also adored the choice of music by the way)
Also, just to share an interesting observation I've read about, that _lone_ owl that flies past the Dursleys' window in this first chapter? That one was probably carrying a message of what was happening to Miss Fig.
Fun fact about you picking Oblivion music for the background, Jeremy Soule did the soundtracks for the first 3 HP games (at least, on PC) and went on to do soundtracks for Oblivion and Skyrim.
Great format! I loved hearing your reaction to the first few chapters and what new information you picked up as well as some of the differences. Please keep it up!
YO! Good timing lol I've actually been checking out the audiobooks myself! I read the books as a kid (and have seen the movies) but decided to listen to the audiobooks for a revisit. Going through the Stephen Fry version and gonna be checking out the Jim Dale version in the future! (On Prisoner of Azkaban on the Fry version)
I love hearing your thoughts about each individual chapter! This is going to be such a fun series! I’ve recently been listening to the audiobooks and am finally on the final book. It’s been years since I’ve read the books or listened to the audiobooks so I’ve been really enjoying reacquainting myself with all the details. Keep it up!
The word Wizard isn't used until Hagrid tells Harry he's a wizard in chapter 4. The word Magic isn't used at all I believe chapter 5. Little things you notice the more you read the book.
HAD to comment just cause I've enjoyed all your movie reactions and I love the way you're doing this. I'm really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on rest of the books!!
Hey Veggi as a fellow Dyslexic I completely get it about the reading but HP is relatively easy to read and follow along. Love your enthusiasm for Harry Potter! Keep it up mate!
Hello another dyslexic here. Loved the books but a word of warning the reading age of the books goes up with Harry's age so they do get harder. J.K. insisted that Fry read them exactly as printed for anyone following along in the book while listening to the recording 😀
So yea.....very new to your Harry Potter book club but I absolutely love it.....I have read the books and I love them and with you I feel like I am reading them again with a friend and it's amazing......,....so much appreciation for you......
great to see your story with Harry Potter. I usually see some reacts from the Harry Potter movies, but most seem to watch and then move on to other movies, you really seem to have delved a lot into the franchise and that's really cool to follow.
You mention in chapter 1 there are so many wizards out and about, not being stealthy at all, that even Vernon noticed several of them, and one even talked to him and called him a Muggle. Please understand that this is RIGHT after "You Know Who" got defeated, rumor is starting to spread, wizards can't contain their joy. A decade (or something) of terror and fright and evil is finally over, and many wizards indeed took their celebrating too far, into what's usually very punishable offenses. The book mentions someone created a massive cloud of falling stars, sort of like fire works, which was indeed spotted by Muggles (iirc), and the Ministry had a field day wiping Muggles' memories after. This was the biggest celebration in modern times for them, that's why they were out and about in their wizarding clothes, hugging Muggles.
definitely keep making more of these videos, they are absolutely brilliant I loved your HP movie reactions and how much interested you were in this magical world, you weren't just watching those movies just to watch them but you got really involved into the story and I love it as I love this series and watching someone who feels the same way as I do is comforting, hope to see videos about all of these books
Love this! Great to see you react to all these details and discuss how they fit within the whole story, since you know the context for most of the series at this point
I am so excited that you are experiencing the books for the first time and letting us be included!!! I hope you have exactly as much fun as me when I first read them. Lots of Love from Germany!
This was amazing Veggie!! Lots of thoughts, I suggestion is I wanna hear more about how awesome Jim Dale reading is (and it is very nice of you to include Fry for those who for some reason prefer him- like my husband lol). I’m gonna re listen to the chapters at the same time as you so I’m all refreshed :D Far as ch. 1 I think the wizarding world is so ecstatic about the dark lord losing his powers that they are being much more careless then usual. That’s why the old man hugged Vernon and said those things he shouldn’t have, too on cloud 9 to think straight and it’s a nice touch in the writing to have Wizard’s her swept away and show they are capable of messing up sometimes. In Ch. 2 my interpretation with Harry’s Hair growing that fast back overnight has to do with how severe his dread was of the reactions at school the next day. His powers flair up more in accordance with the potency of his emotions. Let Ch. 3 my opinion is not just that it was a test regarding Harry switching rooms, but a fear that there may be consequences if the wizarding world knows too much about how they are mistreating Harry. You are a bright point of every day looking forward to future videos and a starburst the days we actually get to enjoy your fun, insightful, invested self in this shared Potter passion 💕
Im glad you are doing this -- there are many times in the movies that I wish to leave a explanation or a point out that would spoil things in the end -- Looking forward to seeing Deathly Hallows 2

Chapter 1: The mention of Sirius Black is a seemingly 'throwaway' name. After the 3rd book, that line means SO much more.
I came to say this. They were just so excited about him being defeated.
P.S. Noticeably short and Squeaks when excited? Prof. Flitwick?
The short man is Sturgis Podmore.
@@elizabethladnier9220 isn't it Daedalus Diggle?
@@line_vondensternen337 damn you're right. sorry got my background characters mixed up
Sturgis podmore work in the department of mysteries. My bad
@@MsMaggyW shh... That happens in the third book (that conversation), don't spoil it 😉
Shhhhhh that's explaind in future books
@@lindamazule2289 to be fair, I think he’s seen the movies
To me it was always about being able to say that the letters weren't for him, since he no longer lives under the stairs
Please more of this, i read these books like once a year and always wanna talk about more stuff, this scratchs that itch for me
Okay final thoughts as of finishing the episode: very happy.
Thank so much for the feedback Kega!! Really glad you liked it! :)
What's so special about saying "pocketed it"?
@@Lia-uf1ir Some people for some reason find that hard to say. If you look up Fry telling the story here on RUclips he still struggles with it.
@@Lia-uf1ir it's because of the "d" and the repeating "t"s
Dudley also did ask a good question there...
Voldemort's name wasn't made taboo until the last book. The ministry (after it was taken over by Voldemort) used it to track people.
JK Rowling mentioned that she had intended Voldemort to be pronounced in the French, but the movies made it so everyone used the -t. Some things are simply not under the control of the writer.
Yep, Jim's version will change the pronunciation for the books written after the movies started pronouncing the "t".
I pronounce it with a T, because I don't think 16 year old Tom Riddle knew any french when he cane up with the name^^
Great format, love it. Maybe turn the music down a touch. I love revisiting the books and it's cool to talk about the differences between the books and the movies
Yeah turn it down, but Just very slightly
@@MR-ly1rc - agree on all counts!
Thank you soooo much for reading the books and commenting on them! That is seriously amazing. I understand why people choose to only watch the movies, but man, you miss so much detail! It's so nice to see you genuinely care enough to listen to them on audio! You're gonna be amazed by everything you learn!
love it I agree with the volume of the music slightly loud. but please please keep reviewing the books
You mean he didn’t know Peter was the secret keeper and thought sirius was...

Harry's family has so much money because his ancestors invented sleek easy hair taming potion (probably because of the hair) and it makes an appearance in goblet when Hermione go's to the ball!
i was waitin for someone who review hp movies to give a try to book, thanks for that video.

@@VeggieGamer Keep on with the books please
Funnily enough, the "it lets Voldemort know where you are" idea does come up eventually, so your head canon wasn't completely wrong.
Ahh man was so excited for this to finally hit RUclips, glad it’s here
i'm so happy someone's finally doing this! everyone usually says no when their viewers suggest this so i'm really glad you decided to take this on!
I hope you will share this long journey with all the books, thank you so much, love from a french hp fan :)

@@VeggieGamer I hope you loved it, I sure did!
Yes! I love getting the thoughts of people that see the movies and then read the books. It's so fun to what they enjoy watching getting expanded.
Veggie, I enjoyed this a lot. Only suggestion I have is the music, the volume could a wee bit lower. Cheers from Poland!
Thanks for the feedback, Kocia! Yeah I think you are right on the music! Glad you enjoyed the video! :)
I think it's so cool that you're talking about the books! I'm looking forward to the other parts
My first ever Book reaction video. Great idea. I personally have the Jim Dale version but I love Stephen Fry. I'm sure he did a great job too.
Great job!!!! 👍 👏 would love for you to continue with the series!!!!
My feedback is that you're a lovely person. have a great day, this was fun to watch
I do like your book review, your observations, etc. Pls keep it up. 👍🧡
Hahaha that is a crazy coincidence! I just felt it was appropriate, I didn't realise there was a direct link! XD Thanks for the fun fact!
Thank you for doing this! I like it a lot!
Veggie your a blessing, keep up the amazing work
I love the Elder Scrolls music in background.
More of these 💙i loved it.

Hey Veggi as a fellow Dyslexic I completely get it about the reading but HP is relatively easy to read and follow along. Love your enthusiasm for Harry Potter! Keep it up
mate!
So glad you brought this to RUclips! Yay! Thanks!
I always assumed that Grunnings made drills for getting oil out of the ground, rather than hand-held drills.
Yeah someone else mentioned that. Maybe I have the wrong end of the stick!
This was the biggest celebration in modern times for them, that's why they were out and about in their wizarding clothes, hugging Muggles.
definitely keep making more of these videos, they are absolutely brilliant
I loved your HP movie reactions and how much interested you were in this magical world, you weren't just watching those movies just to watch them but you got really involved into the story and I love it as I love this series and watching someone who feels the same way as I do is comforting, hope to see videos about all of these books
Great to see this, I'm so excited and happy!!!
PLEASEE KEEP GOING!!!
Love this! Great to see you react to all these details and discuss how they fit within the whole story, since you know the context for most of the series at this point
I love it! As a brazilian, who always watch your videos, it was amazing to hear you say "amigo".
SOOOO excited your doing the books, please keep doing these. can't wait for you to compare the two
I am so excited that you are experiencing the books for the first time and letting us be included!!! I hope you have exactly as much fun as me when I first read them. Lots of Love from Germany!
SO excited for this!
