Fun fact, it actually IS two separate engines that can each be used individually or combined for extra HP. Gaijin has them connected though so even though realistically you could lose one and continue to operate at a reduced capacity, you just get totally knocked out.
And it was designed so that if it caught fire, it burns externally, no internal damage. In game you burn like hot gasoline from smallest friggin spark and die.
Gaijin has killed this tank so hard. Irl the blast panels were 30 mm, in game they are 10 mm. The gun was extremly accurate and did not have any problems aiming. It had two engines becouse one didn't produce enough power. (That is why it looks really weird in x-ray.) Gaijin only took the enginepower from one of the engines. (It used one when idle and during non combat but during actul combat or training it used both.) The fueltanks on the side and the fueltank on the from were all made to work like exterior fueltanks. (You can't set them on fire.) The reload was 2.5 seconds Irl. (And that was bottlenecked by the time it took to reaim the gun after shooting, the actual reload was under 1 second.) It was also extremly quick to rearm outside of combat. Ingame the only diffrece this would make would be that rearming at cappoint went alot faster. But there are also some bad thing Gaijin left out. The machineguns couldn't be reloaded from inside the tank. This would make no diffrence Ingame considering that we are already able to controlling coaxial machineguns and repairing telepathicly. Becouse the engine and transmission were located under the barrel. You had to remove the barrel to do any extentive repairs on the engine. Ingame this would mean a longer engine repair time.
basically when the 103 was introduced it was basically the worlds greatest tank. however it is worth mentioning that tech progressed quite fast around this time and it did not take all too long until it had developed some serious weaknesses due to advacement in tech, most relevant mentions being better stabilizers being developed for tanks with turrets (meaning they could fire on the move, at least in theory, assuming crew was skilled, 103 could not fire on the move) and APFSDS ammo becoming more prevalent and more advanced, getting to a point where the standard t72 round could pierce almost clean through the 103. for reference on "release" the 103 was basically entirely immune to any round in wide circulation from the front. the 103 is definitely way worse in WT than it should be, but i just felt it was worth pointing out that while it was an amazing tank when introduced it did get "out teched" relatively fast, it was also quite expensive, at around 2.3 mil sek per tank where as the first model Leopard 1 cost the wehrmacht around 1.5 mil sek per tank.
I don't get why they didn't just make the entire tank have a hidden cube under it that was the hull, with the entirety of the tank being the turret. Solve the "move in the direction of turret" problem and you have really smooth hull aiming
@@Xenomorphin1 Absolutely, if you look at videos where the 103 is demoed, like at Tank Fest you can see it basically rotating freely to either side without moving forwards or backwards. It's also a lot smoother and less wobbly when elevating and depressing the chassis or rotating.
@Daniel Walder well i dont think wot is bouncy bouncy, it's like every tank there has stabilizers, you only need to wait for the aiming circle to come down (which is annoying that it has limits and my IS is so inaccurate)
Interestingly enough, swedish assault rifles are built to be able to be operated while wearing oven mits (or rather, extreme cold weather mits)... so...
I only Gaijin could perfect the hull aiming. This "MBT" did outperform a Leopard 1 when the Norwegians trialed it on scouting and getting the shot off. These were built to be easy to use and smooth to traverse.
The premium one is still the best one imo since now with volumetric it can bounce heat shells which the tech tree ones can’t. Adds a certain degree of more survivability and bias coming from a premium counterpart :)
Well, the designer of the tank, a gentleman named Sven Berge, created this tank to hold off a potential Soviet invasion. Sweden is a relatively hilly country, meaning big and heavy tanks are impractical. The Swedes wanted something fast, light, and with a good gun, so Sven had the idea of making a tank that was also the turret. Thus we get the cheese wedge here. It's low profile when hull down is very small and hardly noticeable until it shoots you, but by then you're dead anyways or in pain. In all, it's honestly a neat concept and one of my most favorite tanks ever

@@zeradus this is not new information.........
@@zeradus I have an issue where it doesn't always toggle off, and i have to press it twice, what i meant to say was trying to drive after thinking you've disabled the hull-aim. You're right, ive never been driving and suddenly hull-aim is affecting me or something like that. "Fighting the hull-aim while driving" was not an accurate way to describe it.
Stridsvagen 103? More like
Partyvagen 69
when you compare the Strv 103-2 in WT and WoT, the one in WoT is better since the physics arent complicated like in WT with the rocking from explosions. it also makes the aiming mechanism easier than in WT
