Thank you for that very honest and caring introduction. It is refreshing to hear what should (but isn't) obvious about owning/collecting fragrances. I love Bigarade Concentre, especially that grassy accord that gives it a certain bite. My 5 fragrance collection would include Bigarade Concentre, and philosykos (for spring-summer) Chergui and Dior homme intense (for fall-winter and-or date nights) and either Bel Ami Vetiver or l'Air Du Desert Marocain for an all-round signature scent :-) Greetings from Belgium
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! It's awesome to hear about your fragrance favorites and how they fit into your seasonal and signature scent lineup. Bigarade Concentre is a fantastic scent! Your picks could easily be mine too! Greetings from Lithuania 😄
Nice list, no doubt, but if I had to choose 5 fragrances to live with from now on I would go with 1. Amouage- Beach Hut Man 2. Pana Dora- Grand Musk 3. Dior Homme Parfum 4. Frederic Malle- Musc Ravageur and ...i think Dior - Eau Sauvage Parfum. There. Happy.
I agree that fragrances are a luxury item, but they are beneficial for our mental health, smelling good, gives you a boost and can bring back happy memories. And unlike other luxury treats like rich food, alcohol, cigars etc fragrances do not do you any harm.
Ganymede always brings a smile to my face. My alternatives for Your list: Fresh/Citrus: Casamorati Mefisto Gentiluomo Fresh Floral: Amouage Epic Woman Woody/Earthy: Essential-Parfums Bois Imperial Ambery: Amouage Royal Tobacco Ganymede doesn't need an alternative.
I actually find Ganymede and Bois Imperial 80 percent the same. Bois Imperial is just a linear Ganymede (essentially just the dry down/basenotes) of Ganymede. Assume is the Akigalawood accord. Ganymede is much more complex for the first 1-2 hrs with more suede and other nuances but they dry down to same exact scent. Bois Imperial is a much better day scent (lasts forever) and obviously 1/3rd the cost & and then Ganymede can be saved for more nighttime/more special times. I have both and use for different purposes. Great recs both of you guys though!
@@ArthurPhillip7 that comparison is made over and over again and, understandably, different people interpret scents in different way. For me those are very different. Ganymede opens fruity and salty and becomes woody and leathery, while Bois Imperial opens woody and becomes like a fresh tea fragrance. Both are in my collection and I also found Bois Imperial more versatile, specially because of it's accessible price point.
@@AndreMonz yea I don't have the olfactory sense to get some nuances. They smell practically the same to me😂😂😂😂 besides Ganymede being much more complex and multifaceted. The akigalawood accord really dominates and almost inhibits what I can smell 👃 I just know I like the way they smell 😂.
When I 1st smelled Le Lion I said this smells eerily similar to sumthin I've smelled before, couldn't put my finger on it at 1st but the more it dried down, I said to myself, this is Shalimar edp, which I already have & have not worn in a very long time, I may have to give it a spray to see if I pick up Le Lion
Hello there, I’m from Romania. I watched your videos for a long time. I generally agree with your opinion on fragrances. You inspired me several times. I’ve been subscribed to your channel since the beginning. But for some time you keep pushing that Ganymede. I have tested it. It’s a pure sintetic. It’s so bad. One of the worst fragrances I’ve ever smelled. Worst them Cedrat Boise. And I taught that is the worst there is. I’m in this hobby for eight years, a little longer than you. Now when I see you speaking about something new I have second thoughts. I’m sorry! I know that taste is subjective but in this case I believe it’s obvious something that I don’t understand. I wish you all the best.

@@mattl7424 it's not all the brands some of them. Everybody has different taste. Some agarwood oils has a medicinal notes maybe you hate in the beginning but whit the time turns so addictive and calming.. for everyday use I wear pure ambergris oil it's so relaxing and complex. Black te.sandalwood. vanilla honey and tobacco.and the Marine scent it's so salti . One single natural ingredient well macerated can beat the best niche perfume
Awesome recommendations! Ganymede is a for me a compliment beast! Amouage Lyric , Dia and Reflection Man are IMO the best floral masculine scents

Absolutely! Totally agree
I'm addicted to lyric man , Ganymede & Melburry Fig from Floris
Ganymede always brings a smile to my face.

Fresh/Citrus: Casamorati Mefisto Gentiluomo
Fresh Floral: Amouage Epic Woman
Woody/Earthy: Essential-Parfums Bois Imperial

Ganymede doesn't need an alternative.
Indeed, Ganymede is in a league on its own! Fantastic list, my friend!

@@AndreMonz on another note, you recommended gentiluomo mefisto over regular one? Been on fence which one to get.
Love the Introduction/ PSA👍🏽
Oh yes, Aqua di Sale for me is first!
Simply the best aquatic fragrance 😁
Great list Joao. 5 is already so little but yes i understand the theme. For what its worth, if i can have only one.. its GANYMEDE ❤
Amazing video 😉
Thank you so much 😊🙏
Hi there.. Am sorry I didn’t catch what’s the name & by whom your #1 rose fragrance..
thanks.. warm regards from Chicago.
Hi! Sure, it's Rose de Jamal by Les Indemodables 😊
Id say the beaufort collection lol
You're not wrong, at all! That's a brilliant house!
7 fragrances you need :
1. Dolce & Gabanna - Pour Homme, from 1994. (Citrus)
2. Shiseido - Feminity du Bois (Woody)
3. Rochas - Femme (Fruity)
4. Amouage - Reflection Man (Floral)
5. Azzaro Pour Homme, vintage (Fougere)
6. Hermès - Bel Ami, shaker (Leather)
7. Roja Diaghilev (Chypre)
Like always, an outstanding selection, my friend 😁
i think i'm the only person in fragcom who doesn't like ganymede
I am at least on the fence! I like Encelade a lot, though.
I highly doubt that 😁
I think ganymede is quite challenging
Bois Imperial may be a "prelude to a kiss" for you in this case.
le lion is a modern interpretation of shalimar. They share the same skeleton

For me. Calming would be Gris Charnel Extrait or a Royal Tobacco.
Tea scents are very calming .
Of course they can harm you. Why do you think every year another ingredient is banned lol
Not this fragrances sintetic perfume are very dangerous for human.
