There once was a Merchant of Baghdad whose servant came running into the house in great distress. 'Oh Master,' he said, 'I was in the market place today, and I saw a hooded figure. I remember a RUclipsr pointing out something the non religious often miss with Gods in religious stories. They’re not people, in modern stories we write gods as people but Gods are just the embodiment of concepts and so operate on that. What they are is the same as who they are. Zeus is a womanizing man and an absolute tyrant but he’s the God of Storms, Hospitality and Olympus. He brutally punishes those that break oaths or harm guests and makes new gods, Hera sticks with him because she’s motherhood and familial bonds. Aeolus is wind, fickle, mischievous but nonetheless dangerous. Gods in religion are just forces of nature given the ability to think. It’s in their nature to be a certain way.
Yeah, seems to be closer to the later versions of the story where Aeolus was a little more devious. In the original version, Aeolus was trying to be nice by containing all the unfavorable winds for Odysseus, but decided to stop helping when his crew opened the bag and got blown back to his island (Aeolus was male). He figured they must be cursed by the gods and didn't want to get involved with it. In later versions, the gods basically had a betting pool going on whether or not Odysseus would make it home. Aeolus bet against him, and gave him the bag knowing what would most likely happen.
Love how the wind god is colorful while everyone is muted and in grey scale except in the dream to show that they are not real and like they are above the world
2:38 shows how desperate he was to get back to his family…”I keep on trying to embrace you both why won’t you let me?!” He was sleeping, and all he could think about was hugging and being with his family but his sub conscious was doing everything it could to wake him up.
And he (basically) says "I swear I haven't changed" because he's seeing both of them "not letting him" embrace them. So his unconscious is concerned that they will see him as a monster after all of this is done.

Aeolus looks so mischievous! And i love how the same clouds are used in the "friends close enemies closer" line. I never pictured it like that before, but now i sure do :D
The way Odyssyus smiles thinking he is in the clear in the rain and all of a sudden it STOPS, and you hear Poseidon scream out his name and he appears. It's great! Such an underrated part I loved it.
Odysseus: Crew, Dont do some stupid stuff or else bad thing happens
Crew: *does thing anyways and is suprised bad thing happens*
what pisses me off more is the fact he spent NINE days awake protecting the bag. LIKE OBVOISLY ITS IMPORTANT TO KEEP IT CLOSE IF BRO STAYS UP FOR NINE DAYS 😭😭
3:49 after monster came out, i knew this scene would not happend again
1) The animatic is smooth and truly amazing
2) The effort and time to make this earns my respect
3) For some odd reason my sister thinks the very beginning of this song reminded her of the Boondocks intro
Loved the vid :)
I think it's the flute. The boondocks end credits used one.
This looks wonderful! I love the designs for the wind goddess or god and her/his/their trouble makers. Odysseus is so tired of everybody's nonsense, and oh no at that ending.
1:42 that's a look!
2:55 got those designer eye bags
2:57 Not Ody trying to explain to Penelope how he hasn't changed 😢
3:05 well, great googly moogly ever just went into a downward spiral ( bless her, she tried)
3:27 excuse you, I FELL ASLEEP!
4:04 😮😭😣😱😱😱 Poseidon!
Wind god. Hes male both in lore and musical.
@@JeffTheKiller-vb3kmHeadcanon: They are genderfluid because of being a wind god
@@theblaze5530Ok, but I mean. The story is the story. The original writer said that the Wind god is male. So, he is male.
@@JeffTheKiller-vb3kmand the creator of the musical said he wasn't going to care about gender, onl thaty the voice inspired him as the characters
@angier2350 Surpisingly Jorge Rivera-Herrans did not create greek mythology.
1:17 i love how you turn the clouds into Eurylochus and polities . And then the utter shock of Odysseus when he the polities cloud. 😢
"that's what I'm serving"
Girls just serving in general
First of all, I love the fact Aeolus was smirking when they opened the bag, symbolising that she loved seeing things like this happen, which I’m guessing does happen a lot overseas for her. Second, i LOVE how Aeolus turned grey when they opened the bag, such a great detail thank you for making this animation ❤🫶🏻
Theu really can't wait for a few more days. Like even if there are treasures in that bag, you think it's enough for the whole crew 😭
You know a character is drawen well when you get the unexplainable urge to simp for them
is no one gonna talk about how polities forms in the clouds when they say"Everythings changed since Polites"? Cuz i thought that was genius( its at 2:09 if you want the time stamp)
Totally agree, we should talk about such a genius detail!!
I cant, that line is so sweet! The crew still thinks of Polites even after death
This was so pretty!! I love how everyone looks and the tension as the song progresses!
Your composition is smooth and dynamic and oh my goodness the way you draw expressions of anguish after 2:50 THATS THE STUFF!!!
The cloud tattoos on Aeolus are also so transmasc … genius
1:39 I love his expression here, you can see the desperation!!
I gotta say the more I watch the enchanted music and reading the story it seems Odysseus had a lot of dimwitted crews that fell easily for dangers. From falling for the wind goddess tricks, eating foods from strange nymph to hunting a scared deer.
Maybe I’m looking too deep into this
I probably shouldn’t have the hots for your odysseus. The little stills of him smiling or being chill are what I live for now 😂😂 ❤❤❤
My gosh from Aeolus design, to the Polites clouds, to dream Penelope REJECTING Odysseus AAAAARGGGHHHHH!!! TOO GOOD!!!
2:23 Odysseus just looks like a drunken sailer here hehe
Aaanyways this is amazing Ximena! Your expressions are on point and Aeolus blowing a kiss is so in character😂
the way this is so close to EXACTLY how I imagined an animatic for this is insane omg you’re amazing im obsessed
This is one of my favorite animatics I’ve ever seen
same
4:00 THAT is the face ofsomeone who knows they are done for
1:50 you can see how Ximena foreshadowed that they were going to open the bag, by how nonchalant and uncaring their attitudes are towards Ody! I think that’s so cool!
OMG AMAZING!! I can 100% assure that this is one of the best animatics of the ocean Saga that I have ever seen. Your Aeolus is THE BEST SO FAR ❤️❤️❤️
This whole thing is so pretty but can we all just appreciate how THICCQ my guy looks at 0:19? Dude has been LEAPING *WALLS* on leg day DAYYYUMMM 👀
I KNOW RIGHT?
The amount of love, time, and effort put in to this clearly shows! You're an inspiration; Great work!
i am SCREAMING WITH PURE JOY!!! i habe been imagining f9r the past few days exactly this type of animation, and you've breathed my dreams into life!! their expressions, odysseus' pain and aeoles' unending smiles!!
SPEAKING OF AEOLES!! oh my GOSH her design. oh my goddess. exactly how i pictured and EVEN BETTER!! the way SHE IS THE STORM YES YES YES, and her attitude!!! PERFECTION!!!!!
You know, everyone depicts Aeolus as a woman, and I get that. Female actress and all. But I always envisioned it as a younger child-version of Aeolus.
Sidenote, this is probably the most gorgeous full-versiom of this. I've been waiting for something like this for a while, and you did not disappoint. I especially love the emotion you put in the eyes.
This is so unbelievably gorgeous like wow- bro your design of Aeolus is fantastic too just AHHH incredible
One of the best animatics of Epic I've seen! The raw emotion in the expressions, the poses, the cameras angles... And so many good details! I particularly like Penelope trying to get Odysseus to stay awake.
Havent seen a comment about this yet but I adore the lightning flashing behind Odysseus as he says "Storm" around 1:44.
This art is absolutely insane! you killed it with this one! the art for Aeolus is fantastic and fits the voice and style perfect, and i loved the scene of her flying above the ship with a smile just waiting. really props to you on this!
this is supposed to be a dude
DUDE! I love seeing everyone's interpretations of Epic the Musical! This is so cool! And love how Mischievous Aeolus is! Really captured the Gods from the Mythology Stories I've read!
I fucking love how cheeky she is, and the Winions are so adorable
I NEED A RUTHLESSNESS ANIMATIC NOW
this animatic captured the song so well! (Please do a ruthlessness animatic I need to see it)
You have amazing talent, and I absolutely love how you captured all the characters so perfectly!
This is basically exactly what I was imagining while listening to this song, and it’s super cool!
Can’t wait to see more of your animatics in the future!
I love that design for Aeolus. So adorable looking, fitting of her playful and free nature.
Great job! I love the design of Aeolus and how you made their movement language fit the character so well! Also the dream secuanse of Penelope and the kid (I forgot his name) was amazing
The expression of "oh shit we're screwed aren't we?" on Odysseus's face is just so clearly captured when poseidon appeared-
This is by far my FAVORITE Aeolus design!!! I love this video so much 😭😊
I absolutely adore the look you have the wins god I noticed how you made her hair look like a cloud! Keep up the good work pookie LOVE YOU MWA
Odysseus: sacrifices six men to see his wife
Eurylochus: inderectly kills entire crew just to open a bag
I LOVE.
HER DESIGN
love the expressions as usual, they share emotions so well.
Thank you for another banger animatic eheheeheh
2:19 THE WAY ODYSSEUS IS JUST DONE WITH EVERYTHING OMG (awsome job with the animatic it looks awsome💕)
OH MY GODM THIS IS A MASTERPIECE. I love how you did the designs, your style, the expresions... Everything PERFECT.
This is so gorgeously done, I love your art style, and the expressions on everyone’s faces are so nicely done! Love this!!! 💙💙💙
Captain, there is a hot wind blowing our sails!😂
THIS WAS SOO GOOD! AND I LOVE THE DESIGNS 🤩
I'm mesmorized, I'm speachless, this is incredible
OMG YOU ARE SO TALENTED AND I LOVE AEOLUS' LITTLE KISS, IT WAS SO COOL YOU'RE GETTING A NEW SUBSCRIBER!!
This appeared in my recomendations and is so fucking good. I love the design of Aeolus
And when I saw the name of the channel I fucking froze, I was like Ximena Natzel? THE XIMENA NATZEL THAT DID THOSE TREE BROS VIDEOS AND THAT GHOST COMIC I WAS OBSESSED WITH?
Is awesome to see how much you improved, the expressions, the perspective, everything is so much better
3:07 i just noticed that it has the same tune as survive.
GOD there're so many amazing animators in this community but i keep coming back to your videos im so obsessed . I love the way you draw expressions so much you always capture the movements and emotions perfectly. And your odysseus design is so great,,,,, he's my guy (and of course in this specific animatic Aeolus looks so cool.......) all the love to u, you're amazing
The annoyed Eurylochus on the boat made me laugh, and I love this depiction of Aeolus.
Ok but like- if they really didn't trust him, they just had to feel the bag. The storm can't be heavy or anything if it's seemingly full of anything at all, and they'll know their captain is telling the truth.
HOW DID YOU DO THIS SO FAST I FEEL LIKE THE ALBUM JUST DROPPED😭😭
Ur a goddess frfr
2:13 ayo where is lil cloud bro looking
Aint no way just noticed that just now💀
I LOVE YOUR STYLE SOOOO MUCH, Everything about this is awsome, the movement, the designs! One of my favourite animations!!
Ah wow! This is almost exacly how I envisoned the storyboarding and the characters with the little details are just perfect!
I cant wait to see more!
I love your design for Aeolous - this is fantastic all around and the emotions are capture very, very well. gorgeous work
I think this is one of my favorite animatics of this song I’ve seen so far, you capture the story telling wonderfully
Love the animatic, art and the character designs. All of it is beautiful!
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL YOUR ARTSTYLE IS SO TASTYY
You’re absolutely incredible!!!!! Amazing work! Like, I’m at a loss for words how much I loved it! I think my favorite part where she blew him a kiss sending the ships flying, it was a perfect touch!
"Huh, i like soldier, poet, king, i guess I'll take the quiz everybody talks about, but i don't really have an expectation for what i'd want to be."
Gets soldier: "i have gained no greater insight than i had before"
ABSOLUTELY GORGOUES ANIMATIC!!! ✨️✨️✨️ AND YOUR DESIGNS ARE JUST ✨️✨️✨️✨️
this honestly breakes my heart, u did an amazing job!
This was SO WELL DONE!! I was waiting for a great animatic of this song to come along, since it’s one of my favorites. The character designs, the colors and the backgrounds are all fantastic
