Good tie! Have you ever tried Cohen's carp dub? I honestly love that stuff for my carp flies. Pat Cohen also has a good book called Super bass flies that not only shows how to tie some bass flies really well but there's also carp flies too.

The best carp fly is the one they will hit at any given time. I tie some in that same basic pattern.

Yes, use whatever they are gonna bite. I hear sometimes people using wooly buggers, however there are some carp specific flies that work more often
