    You are correct with the strictest sense of the word, somebody standing out from peers. But if the newer generations keep getting "smarter," it benefits everybody, whether or not they change grading practices. But I do agree that to stand out is important -- those are the people that get the opportunities and resources. But they don't get them because of grades -- they get them because of connections. People recognize potential; grades don't.

    The emphasis is on how to make all the kids equal. It is currently failing our kids and our country...

    I couldn't believe in the past fail course section that at the end of the day you didn't fail any of them! Come on! You tell a story about how they aren't performing and then you don't fail anybody? You deserve a fail.
