I received my CrispLid a couple of weeks ago and love it. I've cooked frozen Pillsbury Grands biscuits, cheese burgers, fries, loaded potato skins, mini pizzas, and with a little creative thinking, a delicious peach cobbler. I think its an ingenious design.
I would like to say..... Thank you. Thank you for stating your truth regarding this product. I have watched videos like this where I would swear someone is in a corner threating the reviewer never to say a negative word..lol. What I'm trying to say is.... you come off as honest. thanks.
Nice video presentation. I got the Crisp Lid recently and I like it. I also have an Air Fryer. I pressure cooked 4 chicken breast and then sprayed them with olive oil cooking spray and browned them in the basket. I did turn them every so often so they would brown evenly. I will continue to use both though because of the size capacity.
I already had an air fryer that was a gift, but the basket has a limited capacity. So I went ahead and got the Mealthy Crisp Lid, so that I could cook two batches at once. I've found that the Mealthy cooks just as well, if not better than my Cook's Essentials air fryer. Plus it has the advantage of higher temperatures, as well as portability. I often cooks meals for a friend who already has an Instant Pot, so it's easier to carry the Mealthy with me than the bulky air fryer.
Roasting squash seeds with the Crisplid ? I just bought one for my Instant Pot and used it for browning some items and happy about the way it works ! I'm experimenting with some cleaned Acorn Squash seeds.
Doubles as a broiler. What I wish was available was something to cut down the size of the pot cavity. I've been covering the trivet with aluminum foil and that seems to work ok.
Great to visually see how it is done. Can you make veggie burgers with this crisplid mealthy airfryer? What parchment liner did you use for the chicken?
I just got my lid today and I've been failing left and right to get the chicken to cook right without being dry and bland. So I have a few questions. I lost my job and I'm trying to relearn how to cook. On the fryer chicken, you cooked 400 @ 15" then turned over. What was the time you did for the 2nd side? I cannot see clearly as the edit transition speeds through it, even adjusting the playback speed at .25. Also I noticed when the lid came off the parchment was gone. At what time did you remove it? It looks as if you turned over the bacon, if so, how many minutes afterward did you do that? I'm guessing that is really thick cut bacon too? I'm completely lost on the hand pies. What did you use? Other than the egg. Thank you for your help :-)
tHERE USED TO BE A turbo oven made of glass with a metal extender ring that made it possible to roast a whole turkey. It had a similar cover with fan & heating element, It came in 2 sizes. I used to use it to make roasted & baked stuffed veggies in various styles, including Indian style. It was middle 1990s it was sold by As been On TV, It was called Turbo Oven/cooker if I remember correctly. One thing that was different was that it needed preheating
It came back fairly recently as the Big Boss rapid wave oven. Which was then copied by a few generic companies, including Aldi. Nu-wave then made a more advance version with a bunch of built in timers.
I was looking at the foodie but the large lid that doesn't come off was not a good thing to me. I think an Instant-pot & the crisper lid would work better for just Two people. Thanks for your help!!! Oh! I Subbed!
Great video. I have the Crisplid, and I really like it. I cook for one, so it's perfect. If you're in contact with Mealthy, please suggest to them that a great addition would be a basket made of a more durable, nonstick surface. As an example of what I'm thinking, look at the shelves in the new Instant Pot Vortex Air Fryer. Something like that. Another example is the Phillips Airfryer grill pan. I have used that and I love it. So much easier to clean. I hate this basket.
I've had mine a couple weeks and I agree that the basket needs improvement. If it had foldable handles like the instant pot trivets, that would be awesome. I think it should also maybe come with more than one, since the size means many things have to be cooked in batches. And also, why is the cord is so short?
@@ThisPilgrimLife Is there a specific size? I see there are a few different sizes. Is there one size you recommend more than another? I saw yours had stars, Is that also better than a solid sheet? Thanks
Can the CrispLid be used on a conventional pot if the pot is the same size as a Instant Pot liner? That way you won't have to give up the use of your IP and make 2 things at the same time. Thanks for your very informative video!
Honestly this product is essentially a nuwave oven. It also makes larger batches of food and probably crisps better too. The only plus sides I see to this product is just having the smaller appliance rather than a whole new one.
You can, but it will restrict the air flow and won't cook as well. I found round pieces of parchment on Amazon with holes already punched in for lining air fryer baskets. I use it for battered/wet foods
@@ThisPilgrimLife Am I getting this correct... I can make fried cod with BATTER (not breaded) like fish n chips? How is this accomplished? What about battered onion rings? If the lid can make crispy battered food, that's the selling point for me!
I notice you used parchment paper in the first chicken round but not on the second, I found it does make it easier to clean the basket. I usually spray the basket with olive oil before each use or go with parchment paper. .
I just got mine today In the time I've used it today, all day, there was some splatter on the glass ring and the stainless steel grate. It wasn't hard to clean with a soapy sponge. And I just soaked the pot with hot water and soap and in 10 min it was clean as a whistle. I had one spot I needed to use a scrubbie. I'm glad all the frying is covered up. I don't like frying on my stove so I rarely do it. Hope this helps.
My friend lives in Canada and she tells me the same thing. She said it has to do with Canadian import taxes or something like that. I understand from my cousin in London that it's the same way.
Beware! This uses unhealthy halogen light bulb, see the bright light that comes on when turned on. do research it and you will run from this product. I told manufacturer that it is unhealthy to use a halogen light bulb. they did not disagree they just replied, the bulb does not touch food, dah! the light is extremely bright and puts out allot of heat that does cook the food. I will waid till a company comes out with crisper that does not use halogen bulb. Look, take food out of pressure cooker and crisp in air fryer, works every time.
Too much money, it is only an infrared light in a lid with timer and you cant use it for anything else and it does not work with your instant pot you only need a container and you have to turn your chips over it is a useless item

Mealthy is also working on making one for the mini Instant Pot. Yay!
@bookmarkthis Not on their website or Amazon. You have a link?
@ScottieOwner2 I contacted Mealthy, they do not have one in the works. But, in time, I bet they will.

This looks so cool!!! I use my two instant pots ALL the time - and have wanted an air fryer, so this looks like a great option!! :D

Gives me a proper air fryer -- and space on the counter where the AF used to live. Yes! As with anything, if all else fails, read the instructions.

My mother had two of those. She'd have turkey in one, and the side dishes in the oven and other turbo.
Where do I buy a basket and a trivet,, I live in NS, Canada
can I put it on another pot other than a pressure cooker

No, it needs to be used in conjunction with an electric pressure cooker to work safely.
Wow did that little boy walk through the wall!

Have one ordered and can't wait.
How easy to clean the basket ??
can the CrispLid be used to dehydrate food?
Can you use the crisp lid on the power pressure cooker XL
Anthony Mayo read somewhere you can’t use with the XL ....but for 6 qt & 8 qt IP..
If any pressure cooker bowl has nonstick coating - No.
How do you clean it?
Soap and water, soak it if food is stuck.
@@ThisPilgrimLife Does the lid detach from the crisper then?
@@3bartboysplus no, I was referring to the basket. The lid does not come apart. Just wipe it down. 🙂
Also, after pressure cooking, say chicken wings, do you have to empty the liquid out of the pot before putting the CrispLid on to use?
@@3bartboysplus nope!

I discarded the parchment halfway through cooking so the chicken could crisp more easily. 🙂
That kid prompted more editing than the entire rest of the video combined.
Has anyone ever used this for sausage patties that are not pre cooked?
I’ll bet this would be good with the Jerk Drumsticks in your book. We liked the flavor of those but my kids were missing the oven-crisp skin.
Yes! Actually trying that tomorrow!
Nobody mentions cleaning. Frying means splatter! How do you take care of this?

Buy a 2nd Stainless Cooking Bowl to air fry. Frees out Instant Pot tto Preesur Cook
Why is the Chrisp lid so expensive in Canada just for that reason alone I don't want one
Yea, best price I can find is $80cad
$60 at Amazon
It's 30% more expensive here in the UK than in the US!! Really sucks - they need to charge everyone the same
My friend lives in Canada and she tells me the same thing. She said it has to do with Canadian import taxes or something like that. I understand from my cousin in London that it's the same way.
I finally worked up the courage to use it to make sweet potato fries..... epic fail...but my motto is never give up...

I thought the idea of air frying was to be healthier in that you don't use oils? Every video I've watched the Chef is using oils.
Much less and healthier oils. You can omit the oils but your food will be less crisp. 🙂

Your idea seems rather dangerous because it gets extremely hot and is only designed for 6 to 8 quarts pressure cooker models.
