Oradea/ Nagyvárad/ Großwardein is a city in Romania, is the seat of Bihor County, Oradea is one of the most important economic, social and cultural centers in the western part of Romania. The city is located in the north-west of the country, nestled between hills on the Crișana plain, on the banks of the river Crișul Repede, that divides the city into almost equal halves.
Oradea is first mentioned in 1113, under the Latin name "Varadinum". In the 11th century King Ladislaus I of Hungary founded a bishopric settlement near the city of Oradea, the present Roman Catholic Diocese of Oradea. The city flourished both economically and culturally during the middle ages as part of the Kingdom of Hungary.
The Ottomans laid siege to the city in 1598, however the siege failed. The city had been severely damaged by war, with only 114 houses left, of which only 21 had not been damaged. However, under the Habsburgs' reconstruction, in the 18th century, Oradea entered its second golden age.
After World War I, Oradea passed under Romanian administration, and became a part of the Kingdom of Romania under the Treaty of Trianon of 1920.

@@juliad.6372 Thank you! There will be more videos of Oradea later this year.
Gourgeous city...simply stunning...yet like it are a lot of them in Poland and Czech Republic or Croatia...The only thing they need is a tell tale storry...well, Croatia has the filming of Games of Thrones in beautiful Dubrovnik...But Romania, well...Romania has Brasov with its Dracula's Castle...yes, Brasov RULES!!! And nobody can take that away!
Prietenie !
I love my country Romania ❤
Várad (later: Nagyvárad): from Her Hungarian name came Her latin name Varadinum (and not "Oradeanum") in the medieval ages. Nagyvárad had 95% Hungarian population for 100 yrs ago (nowadays 25%). A great proof of "humanity" and "kindness" you treat minorities in your high-civilized cultured country😊🇭🇺✌🏻...
Brah you forgot that before the 1945 Hungary didn't had Romania, but sience you got help to conqueror Romania, you deleted and forced half of the Romanian tradition to vanish, so ofcourse there was 95% if not 100% Hungarians and 0% Romanians because like Russia and Ukraine, Russia destroy everything traditional in Ukraine now lol. You're justa lost Mongolese on the europe with an opinion... xD cringe. @@gaborszadai1992
brutally underrated. one of the most beautiful mid-sized European cities; easily in the top 10 and probably in the top 3 in central and eastern Europe
I just wish there were fewer cars and fewer great pits :p
@@walkandcamera compared to most Western European cities, there are fewer trafic jams here and the roads are in pretty good condition (i've only been twice and driven once, so i could be wrong). There is a culture of driving everywhere tho; i think this is sadly common everywhere but maybe 10,20% more accentuated in Romania (it feels like some people take the car to throw out the bin sometimes haha)
@@dand2810 Timisoara was much better, almost no cars in the center. The video will be out soon, check it out.
@@walkandcamera you haven't seen the construction site of the underground passage who blocked the circulation on a parallel road about 1km away? Since then the traffic is higher (a little bit)!
Wow! I liked that place. Beautiful architecture, big well-preserved roads, square places look spacious, flourish and in general, there's a mix of old and modern successfully.
I was already thinking of visiting Romania but only Bucharest, now I am thinking of visiting Oradea too.
Greeks love to visit Romania, and now I understand why!
Greetings!

As a resident of the city i can honestly say this looks 100 times better than in reality . sad truth
Un orădean sincer și realist !
de ce nu ai mers si in velenta ? sau in episcopia .
Poate ma duc...
very charmfull, old hungarian town
Old hungarian, new Romanian town.
It is and has always been a Romanian city.
Oradea was collapsed in the 90s, it has nothing to do with Hungary, it was simply collapsed. See Oradea 1994 on RUclips! Hungary is collapsed too compared to the richness of Romania.

Hungarian art nouveau
Hungarian 'Art?" You mean the graffiti on the China wall? Mongolian child...
It’s Viennese secessionist movement… so Austrian bud 😂
@@dacian_1346 Hungarian art nouveau is a variant of this: "Odon Lechner, Dezső Jakab, Marcell Komor, László and József Vágó, Valér Mende, Ferenc Sztaril, Ferenc Löbl, Kálmán Rimanóczy Sr.and Jr., Anton Szallerbek. All these sites offer a very diverse research and development material. These great architects brought in Nagyvárad (Oradea) the influence of Vienna and Budapest through their work, featuring a new style, different from the academic ones, thus creating the premises of a stylistic diversification based on inventions and originality." Btw, all these architects were hungarians.
too bad for the Hungarians that they built a cities in Romania@@esphun1
Built initially by Hungarians, not to forget...
Lmfao check how it looks last time before the romanians from here were freed from the criminal Austro-Hungaryan Empire and then talk shit😂
@@qwertyqwerty-zi6dr How many Austrians are working in Romania actually and how many Romanians in Austria (the so called swan-eaters) ? Don't be so ridiculous, you'd never edificate such kind of beautyful buildings in your whole history. It was the merit of Hungarians.
@@fox200065 one more time, imagine to believe that this city today would looks like this over 100 years ago lmfao :)) we would have buildings like the historycal ones in Bucharest which can make you think to France, instead of this now we have all of those gay colorful buildings build by the austro-hunagryan criminal inavders.. And look at Hungary now, Bucharest s GDP alone has half of HungaryS GDP. And Austria, how its possible to have so many homeless in big cities and to have a Russia s puppet government. And actually Austria GDP PPP in 2023 of 700 bil.$ is a bit smaller than Romania s GDP PPP of 780 bil. $, I m surprised, I understand now your fustrations guys

@@makoado6010 whatever. good luck
What is Hungarian, smarty? Go to Oradea 1994 on RUclips to see how collapsed it was. Romania has thousands of new districts now, new houses and flats of luxury. Usually compared to Europe, ours are at outskirts like in the United States. You have no idea, because when you come to Romania you only visit centre.. You live in Hungary, a poor country is yours!
@makoado go to learn some history and stop trolling
It is nice downtown , but once you go to the outskirts and in the neighbourhoods you see the real Oradea. It is overrated. If you wanna see clean cities , go to Szeged, Gyor,Debrecen,Zagreb, Split, Brno, Praha, Ljubljana.
Yes... That's why I made the Rogerius video, to also show a 'real' neighbourhood. I do plan to film Szeged and Debrecen this summer.
you do realize that all those cities have that "bad side" no? There is no perfect city but Oradea is the best Romania has at this category. Literally, go to the outskirts of all those cities and you will find communist buildings
Gyor and Szeged are anything but clean. Every city has its own flaws but saying Oradea is not clean compared to Gyor Szeged or Debrecen is an overstatement. Plus comparing a mid size city to capitals such as Zagreb Prague and Ljubljana is like comparing apples with pears. My point, the cities you laid out are not any better when it comes to cleanliness.
