It was a bit of a relief to hear you also make mistakes. It gave me a lot of comfort to think that even someone with years of experience can make these kind of mistakes. Thank you for sharing!
Puffer vests are a classic in the northern U.S. I have a couple that aren’t overly puffy and they look cute with a long sleeved tee and jeans. Especially good for running errands and football games!
I am guilty of buying tee shirts for my three sons at every track and field, band event, etc. they participated in. They had so many tee shirts with great memories. I ended up cutting the graphic section out of each tee and sewing them onto a large piece of fabric which I made into a quilt for each of them - and- they look great! And they use them! You would have to cut up your concert mementos but could be a great way to make them into something useful and unique.
I so relate to the feeling of not wanting other’s to focus on my size 11 flippers. I know that having the right shoes makes or breaks an outfit but it’s a fine balance between trying to make my feet inconspicuous while also being fashionable. 😬
I can never make myself like white shoes. I always think they shout. The lightest I can go is skin toned, which I love. Send your concert Tees off to be made into a quilt. They look great as conversation pieces in your family room, hold memories and are comfy to curl up under when watching tv
Oh my goodness……my closets are full of fashion mistakes. I have way too many articles of clothing I’ll never wear. I am pretty good at selling them so I try not to fault myself too much. 😂
I do buy concert t-shirts and I wear them all the time. They can be elevated by wearing one with a blazer or even a nice cardigan. I see your point, though, if you don't wear them after the concert.
Loved this video. I agree with everything! No more concert tees…often scratchy and ill fitting! Find wearing puffer vests sooooo dull. I know what you mean about the flat sambas and larger feet! The other things you mentioned I also agree with 💯! Fun to hear you state what I often believe about various pieces of my wardrobe. Of course, it’s jmho. Thank you!
I know you talked about angles not being flattering on the last boots slightly above your ankles, but thought those boots looked great on you and made you appear younger!!
I occasionally buy concert t-shirts only if I like the design and do wear them after the concerts. I have a Bon Jovi one that is nearly 30 years old and I still wear it. Love pairing it with jeans and a blazer.
Concert t-shirt would never be a regrettable thing for me. I love music, and I don’t mind showing my taste in music when going out. They are also about the same price as a regular t-shirt and I try to choose one that has minimal graphics or colors so they are easy to wear. I must not be very fashionable 😅
Totally agree with the chunky sandals (where the sole doesn’t move enough w your foot) as well as the chunky boots that fall in a weird ankle/ calf spot!! I regret both of these things too.
Concert tees are almost always a bad boxy shape, with annoying ribbed necklines. I always and immediately cut the necklines out into a boat or notched scoop. Sometimes I crop the hem too. No hemming required. Then they become flattering for the gym, house/garden jobs and with leather jackets and maxi skirts for going out. Way cooler.
Adidas Sambas are probably the least comfortable sneakers I ever tried on. The chunky oversized puffer vests look hip hop - silly on older women. I love Chelsea boots in the winter!!! They are a must in sleet and snow!
I love puffer vests. You have to find the right one though. I don't like any of the ones you have shown. Personally, I prefer mine to be more cropped rather than oversized. I like very little stretch in my jeans, if any. My rule is 1-2% stretch max with the remaining cotton. I am happy if I can find 100% cotton denim. I'm old too at 59....lol. I will admit the stretch jeans now are better than they were a few years back. Back then they all seemed to stretch out after a few hours of wear and became very baggy. They also wore out very fast too with the cheap stretch. I went years without buying jeans because I hated the stretch so much and that's all you could buy at one point. I'm happy things have changed the past few years and I am now able to find denim jeans I like again.
Sandals 💜💜💜 Soft does a strapy but chunky Sandal that is comfortable and good movement. I also love the new sandals that Vionics and Aertrex have done and for a classic looking shoe Cole Hann, however they were the best when they had the collab with Nike. That’s my 2cents along with I loved the colorful Animal print outfit.
Thank you! Great video. BTW you can make a quilt (companies can do it for you) out of your band T-shirts, or travel T-shirts, or other T-shirts you don't wear anymore
I don’t regret buying my black Sambas, but I definitely hear you. They are hard to style! I have the vegan ones, and I feel like it’s extra difficult with that grayish toe. I also agree on the chunky boots. That style of boot is not flattering on me either, but I bought several pairs because of Selena Gomez on OMITB😅. I do love them with cropped pants, as another commenter mentioned. Thank you for sharing your regrets!
My Steve Madden chunky loafers feel like clown shoes. I regret buying them. Too many flap style bages I regret that design doesn't work for me. And finally, a giffaffe print tote trimmed in red leather looks crazy plus it's way too big, I'm not sure what I was thinking, but I thifted it from a vintage store.😊
I will never stop buying concert shirt of my favorite bands, ac/dc, Guns n roses, Rolling Stones, Metallica, The Struts and Morrissey, but tbh i ALWAYS buy them outside the venue with the guys walking around because they're like 70%cheaper
I really enjoyed this video. We all make purchases we regret so, to hear you was helpful. I agree with all your points except for the Black adidasSambas. I think they look good on everyone for winter.
Chunky white Chelsea boots. Guilty as charged. I agree. White jeans, white sweater, and maybe a black (or black and white tweed/check) jacket or blazer. That's because the sole of said chunky white Chelsea boots is black. I'm 5'2" and it is the only way to wear these. Fortunately, they only cost me $100 two years ago.
The best sandals that i find myself wearing all the time are the orthopedic type, they have cool styles now and not just the granny style. Many colours and styles but all so comfortable and arch supported, you can walk in them for days.
I think concert tee shirt look really cool with formal skirts and blazers if that's ur vibe. Similarly that green colored skirt would really amazing with either all black ensemble Or similar green shades but in different prints or a green striped shirt. Or head or toe green with a burgundy bag.
Loved those white boots on you! I do not like the colorful animal prints, yet I do one. I have a dark green top. I am going to phase it out this fall season but I will decide after wearing it at least once if it has a season left.
I’d love to hear more about your experience and opinions on wardrobe multiples. I have bought multiples that I regret deeply. And I have bought items that I wish I had bought in multiple (but came to the realization too late and they were no longer available). Any advice on how to approach multiples?
Great video! Now that you're in the US, you can try some mexican quality handmade huarache sandals. It's a classic piece for summer and there is a huge variety of them (less or more open etc.).
Most of the items you mentioned, I would not have bought them in the first place, except for the trench coat. Lovely items for someone else, but not for me.Thanks a bunch. Enjoy your time in the USA.
I just ran across your channel a week or so ago and liked the last one I saw can’t remember what it was on but I hit subscribe just because I liked you - I’m relatively the same age and I lived in Capetown for several years about 10 years ago and loved the people the accent coming from the US ...everything was great New Zealand reminds me of SA so anyway...yes I loved your style & Channel. And I have to say I was surprised you were talking about style regrets you made. I could have saved you the Vlog and the money .. No white shoes ever only sneakers...to this day that’s true. NO wearing White after Labor Day or before Memorial Day in the US of course New Zealand is going into Summer now and US is going into winter ...however the NO WHITE is true no matter who or where you live--This new world not only do I not like it but I don’t understand it - life was so much easier growing up in the 60’s 70’s and 80’ the MACHINE (cell phones & computers) have completely messed things up. Like I said before I could have told you ALL the regrets you made I completely get why you bought into the “styles” this is your job you vlog and you are now part of this “machine” that runs the world. I am not saying that you shouldn’t be doing any of what you do - it’s fine whatever you do but it’s so refreshing to see vloggers who admit that what they were touting was a mistake. I wish more You Tube vloggers would get on and say I bought into this trend I regreted it hated it whatever it would just be great!!! Enjoy New Zealand once of the best places I ever visited!!!
Couldn't agree more with the black Sambas! I also have both the white and the black pairs - I have worn my white ones countless of times; meanwhile the black ones are collecting dust - I've only worn them once!!! Not really a big fan of black trainers to begin with but I was hoping the Sambas would be an exception - they're not! Good thing, my 13yo daughter loves them and I have given them to her and she uses them a lot! Love rock band tee's! I collect my fave rock bands' tees (Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, The Ramones, Nirvana, Green Day, etc.) and I love them oversized, pair them with with more feminine pieces (sequin pencil skirt, a brocade mini, a white layered boho miniskirt, etc.) and metallic heels or western boots. If I'm wearing them with jeans, I make sure I wear with something structured like a blazer or a trench coat and heels. My biggest regret is buying designer items that I don't wear: (1) the Bottega Veneta mesh sandals with gold chain fastening in nude - They're stunning! But I have no formal parties or weddings to go to! (2) the Hermes Oran sandals in grained leather - Had them for 3-4 yrs now but I rarely wear them even in the summer as they're painful on my wide feet! The Orans are made to be worn by those with narrow feet...or if you really love it, never buy the grained leather version! (3) Balenciaga - After their controversial scandal involving their promotional ads that promote child exploitation and p*rn, I couldn't bear to use my Balenciaga bags and shoes, esp since they didn't sack the creative director and the team responsible for such horrible ads!
I can relate to all your choices and I already knew the lug sole chelsea style calf boots were not going to suit me, so I'm glad I dodged that mistake. My partner lent me one of his puffer vest years ago because I'm often cold and they are really versatile and functional but I can never make myself wear it out in public lol. He looks amazing in his, but I just can't do it sorry! I wanted to buy some platform sandals for the height but they also don't move or flex when you walk, and I remember wearing them 20 or so years ago, and they were just a safety hazard in the end! I'm relieved even you make fashion mistakes. Great video :)
Thanks for sharing...yes have quite a few of these fashion regrets. Although I don't think the trench should be...if you love it... keep it and wear it on rotation with the others. I have 4 trench coats...no regrets as I'm in Melbourne so can wear most of the year. No stretch jeans are frustrating as I think they look better but as you say need to be relaxed fit. IMO for what it worth....i think you could get away with the black trainers and the black boots as you are tall so legs could handle visual breaks between boot and skirt and also your feet are in proportion...it would look strange if they were tiny.
The thrill of the hunt exhausted me and kind of turned me off of thrifting for a while. But I’ve recently started again. The last video really inspired me to go for it while visiting DC. On our way back to DC after a day trip, we stopped by a Goodwill and it looks very similar to the one in this video! If there’s a little grocery shop at the other end of the Goodwill, then what are the chances that I got to shop in the same location as someone whose channel I follow?!?! 🤯 I’m hoping to hit a few more on our drive back home. Thanks again for the inspo! 🙌
The cartoon animal prints are out and I agree with you,the skirt looks " off". Chunky boots look clunky now and dated. I never did the concert tee thing, I'm grateful for that!💙
Yes to all of these! I've been doing a great deal of thrift shopping this year and noticed those colorful animal prints there. I think they look cheap and dated. On the other hand I love the look of the real leopard that's on trend right now. I believe it's a classic.
I love my black samba they look great with black long, short leather skirts and long leather with socks and tights. Getting caught in trends is pointless. Buy what you like. Anything you dont want sell on vinted, etc
Add to the list alot of shoes and boots that are made of “man made” material because they are stiff, give you blisters and your feet can’t “breathe”. Also ankle boots and taller that don’t have zipper access are super awkward to take on and off. The older you get the more you realize the way clothes and shoes feel may be even more important than the way they look!
Sandals. I've bought two pairs now of Gianluca sandals from Amazon. They're handmade in Italy, real leather straps AND soles, a bit expensive but not too much ($125 or so American), and they come in men's and women's sizes; they're about identical. I wear an EU size 42, bought both pairs in a 42, and could definitely have gone with a 41, maybe even a 40. They're a bit long. But if you're into earthing, or natural or rustic is your vibe, as it is mine, these are great sandals. It'll probably take them 20 years to wear out.
I abhor white shoes. Period. I like the black sambas. The socks threw things off. The green animal print skirt could have worked with a top in the green/yellow family!
I have a flatter puffy vest that is longer and has a drawstring to adjust and this was key to versatile styling. I have a shorter puffy vest and I have never found a way that I like it styled so I’m done with looking at this type of clothing 🦋🤗
Re: the black Adidas and white Docs I am short, hourglass, with chunky legs and small feet - almost the opposite of you!. Black shoes make my feet look smaller and I look chunkier in the leg - UNLESS the black shoe is chunky too to bring some balance. The white Docs would probably be good on someone like me as they would bring some balance by making my feet look less small. I have some tan Doc boots and they are great!
Leonie, check out these 2 Aussie (designed) brands for Fisherman sandals, Rollie and Radical Yes. I have 3 pairs and love them! I’d say they are a “mid” chunky style and both have good supportive, flexible soles.👍
Oh, I so agree with you on the rigid platform sandals! I made repeated mistakes by being seduced purely by the look until I tried midform sandals from Teva. Lots of variations in colour and style but nothing beats their spongy sole.
I love my puffer vests. I’m in Colorado, and it’s very versatile for our weather. I love oversized rigid jeans. I generally buy vintage jeans that are rigid, but soft from numerous washes. I don’t really like sweatshirts, I have a couple that I wear camping otherwise I don’t wear them. I’m not a fan of clunky shoes. I bought a pair of chunky loafers, I just don’t reach for them.
I get the large foot issues with shoes and also feel like Herman Munster when they are clumpy and flat. As a 5'10" woman baggy and clumpy are not flattering. Have always wondered what it would be like to have a cute and petite foot. However, lucky we have so many choices now, as back in the day it was not so.
I wear my puffer vest with a tulle skirt or something feminine. I’m 56 and live in Switzerland, so in Winter I wear it under an elegant coat, and skip the puffer jacket
I've only bought a few concert shirts as they were always too expensive for me at that time of my life, but I've run in some charity runs and a lot of these give you those unflattering cotton t-shirts and a friend of mine had all hers sewn into a quilt/blanket so she could have the memories but not have to wear them.
I just donated all my concert, graphic and travel destination and restaurant t shirts, I feel like I have outgrown that look. I have also donated my sweatshirts, done with that look as well :)
I love white, ivory or other light-colored shoes and boots. I don’t wear many dark-colored clothes, so the lighter ones work better with my wardrobe. I especially love white sandals in summer, maybe it’s because it’s the only color actually lighter than my pasty leg skin! I don’t bother to tan, either, from the sun or a bottle. If my legs get a little color from my exercise walks in summer, that’s fine, if not, as in winter, that’s fine, too. Of course I have black shoes and boots, but they’re the least worn ones I have.
I agree about the black boots which are kind similar in fit to a sock boot, but chunkier (just because that style would look heinous on me!). But I disagree on the height. I've been waiting forever for mid-calf (actually, right below calf muscle) boots to come back in style because I DO want to draw attention to my calves AND I want to balance out my wide shoulders. I look too much like a spinning top with tight to my ankle boots!! I understand about the white boots, (I also don't like my feet to grab too much attention), but they look great on you in the photos you showed! (Just the angle?). These are great shares, Leoni. Definitely worth thinking about before buying!
Alohas backbone fisherman sandal … they were comfy from the get go and you can throw socks on with them !!! Just my thoughts I also like the Tod’s double bad dad sandals
It was a bit of a relief to hear you also make mistakes. It gave me a lot of comfort to think that even someone with years of experience can make these kind of mistakes. Thank you for sharing!
Love my black Sambas...I been wearing them more than my white ones...it all depends on your personal style
Yes I'm going to try harder to make them work :(
Puffer vests are a classic in the northern U.S. I have a couple that aren’t overly puffy and they look cute with a long sleeved tee and jeans. Especially good for running errands and football games!
And apparently the size of one’s feet
I just wore my black sambas 2 days ago. They are a bit harder to style. But I love them!
The Black ones will be easier to style in autumn/winter with black tights and skirts or dresses
What a fantastic idea !
What a brilliant idea - thanks for sharing!
I so relate to the feeling of not wanting other’s to focus on my size 11 flippers. I know that having the right shoes makes or breaks an outfit but it’s a fine balance between trying to make my feet inconspicuous while also being fashionable. 😬
Oh yes I hear you!!
@charlottejohn~ sweet charlotte, we just have a large "understanding" ☺
@@dagnolia6004 Awww, thanks! I love that perspective:)
I'm 11 1/2 and I feel you!
You ladies gotta get over it. You are tall ladies and your feet don’t look big in relation to the rest of you! ROCK THOSE TRENDY SHOES!❤
100% concur on the Jeans without elastane (AKA spandex) as these jeans hurt you in places you never thought pants would cause you pain.
RIGHT? I thought it was just me ….
I can never make myself like white shoes. I always think they shout. The lightest I can go is skin toned, which I love.
Send your concert Tees off to be made into a quilt. They look great as conversation pieces in your family room, hold memories and are comfy to curl up under when watching tv
fabulous idea!!
Me too, for a long time. Until i found the perfect style. Now i know which type of shoes, in white, look good on me. 😄
I love my black Sambas!!! Otherwise, I’m right there with you on all your observations & regrets! Thanks for sharing, Leoni😊
This Was an excellent video 👏 I was pretty much having a YES moment to most of your regrets and I had to check MYSELF Thank You for this ❤
Thanks Leonie for sharing this with us. /Marie from Sweden
I only wear rigid denim. Really dislike any stretch in my jeans.
Me too - way more chic 😊
And they last longer
Only wear vintage Levi’s. Stretch jeans remind me of jeggings. Also moved on from puffer anything
@@catnip4587I think she means like 1-2% stretch at the most🤣
My biggest regret at the moment is buying a massive flatform sandal. I feel like I'm walking on bricks. What a waste of money 😢
I wear my sweatshirts all the time in winter!
I take my t- shirts and sew on sleeves. Different colors, textures. All cut off puffy blouse sleeves and sew on. Mix and match. Looks really cute 😊❤
Oh my goodness……my closets are full of fashion mistakes. I have way too many articles of clothing I’ll never wear. I am pretty good at selling them so I try not to fault myself too much. 😂
The best black Adidas Samba’s are the ones with the gum sole and grey toe box . They add more razzle dazzle ✨ to the sneaker.
I agree! x
I do buy concert t-shirts and I wear them all the time. They can be elevated by wearing one with a blazer or even a nice cardigan. I see your point, though, if you don't wear them after the concert.
Ahh that's great to hear - I probs just need to make more effort to style them after the fact x
I will not go to a concert w/out buying the shirt. I pair them with skirts and boots. Love them!
I agree, waste of money. They and up becoming pjs in our house of 3 women
And concert T's are so expensive! Yikes. If I want a graphic T I head to the thrift.
That’s what I do. I always have my band T-shirts. I will wear some pearls in a blazer with it. Those T-shirts are a history of my life.
Loved this video. I agree with everything! No more concert tees…often scratchy and ill fitting! Find wearing puffer vests sooooo dull. I know what you mean about the flat sambas and larger feet! Could not relate on the concert tees. I wear them with my leopard print midi skirt, blazer, and sneakers! Its a fun and comfy look for work!
I wear black heavy metal shirt from the last show I attended with a fringed black & white “dior” floral print short skirt. It’s damn high fashion 🤠
Way cooler.

Some real good reminders for my next shopping trip!
So glad!
SO TRUE on the rigid jeans. Discomfort at its finest😆
YES!!!!
That crotch seam ….. DAMN!!
Print animal skirt you wear is nice 👍👌

Yes you're right it depends on how much stretch is in the fabric - more than 1-2% and they will always stretch out of shape sadly :(
Thank you so much for sharing.
You are so welcome!

I like my warm vests. I’m short and stout so they are like tea cozies.
I love the simplicity of your attire today 😊
I liked your black boots! The rest I totally agree with. 😊
I love a warm vest. The secret is to buy down or a good substitute that is thin, yet warm. You don't want the bulk.
I completely agree with sambas
I will never stop buying concert shirt of my favorite bands, ac/dc, Guns n roses, Rolling Stones, Metallica, The Struts and Morrissey, but tbh i ALWAYS buy them outside the venue with the guys walking around because they're like 70%cheaper
I’m 44 and I love band/concert tees. I have so many, but I wear them to the gym
I really enjoyed this video. We all make purchases we regret so, to hear you was helpful. I agree with all your points except for the Black adidasSambas. I think they look good on everyone for winter.
I bought 2 Beyonce concert T-Shirts - they are such great quality i wear them all the time! I bought them over side so i could style them
Wear your black samba with wide leg jeans and trousers then so it covers a lot of the length of the shoe ❤
very great video for me, thanks!!
Chunky white Chelsea boots. Guilty as charged. I agree. White jeans, white sweater, and maybe a black (or black and white tweed/check) jacket or blazer. Loved those white boots on you! I do not like the colorful animal prints, yet I do one. I have a dark green top. I am going to phase it out this fall season but I will decide after wearing it at least once if it has a season left.
I hear you regarding sweatshirts! Just bought the red Target one you had on from your video. Love it though!
Yay! I love it too - it's such a great red right?

My biggest regret is buying designer items that I don't wear:
(1) the Bottega Veneta mesh sandals with gold chain fastening in nude - They're stunning!
Can you tell us how you choose which items you pack away for a trend that may come around again?
Thanks for sharing...yes have quite a few of these fashion regrets. Although I don't think the trench should be...if you love it... keep it and wear it on rotation with the others. I have 4 trench coats...no regrets as I'm in Melbourne so can wear most of the year. No stretch jeans are frustrating as I think they look better but as you say need to be relaxed fit. IMO for what it worth....i think you could get away with the black trainers and the black boots as you are tall so legs could handle visual breaks between boot and skirt and also your feet are in proportion...it would look strange if they were tiny.
I love me a puffa vest❤
Nice!
I never did the concert tee thing, I'm grateful for that!💙
Thanks for sharing Mikki x
I totally agree with the black Sambas. I tried so much but it just doesn’t work.
Yes to all of these! I've been doing a great deal of thrift shopping this year and noticed those colorful animal prints there. I think they look cheap and dated. On the other hand I love the look of the real leopard that's on trend right now. I believe it's a classic.
Guilty of buying multiples - mostly due to not being able to decide which (eg. color) will be the "right" one to complement my wardrobe.
Feels the same way! I have some of those regrets for sure
I love my black samba they look great with black long, short leather skirts and long leather with socks and tights. Getting caught in trends is pointless. Buy what you like. Anything you dont want sell on vinted, etc
I love my sombas ! I did invest in the back pair, and I love wearing them with my black wide legs slacks.
I buy too many sweatshirts also! I love them, but I don’t need anymore
Sorel has some great sport sandals. I like the kinetic versions.
I love chunky calf boots, but a contrasting sole makes them look less heavy 😊
I have a flatter puffy vest that is longer and has a drawstring to adjust and this was key to versatile styling. I have a shorter puffy vest and I have never found a way that I like it styled so I’m done with looking at this type of clothing 🦋🤗
Damn I should have watched before I bought my black adidas sambas
Re: the black Adidas and white Docs
I am short, hourglass, with chunky legs and small feet - almost the opposite of you!.
Worst of all is colorful Leopard it's should always look natural I'm so glad u did this I have a couple of regrets and giving them away thank you
I got sambas white with burgundy side stripes so comfy love it but black somehow dont look good and jeans i am curvy on bottom stretch its must
I love my puffer vests.
Melissa Jelly fisherman sandals. Cool and flexible and come in loads of colours
I wear my puffer vest with a tulle skirt or something feminine. I’m 56 and live in Switzerland, so in Winter I wear it under an elegant coat, and skip the puffer jacket
❣❣❣Loved this video... very relatable.😉
That's great to hear thanks for watching x
The white chuncky boots .....i made the same mistake 😂😂😂😂. Never worn them 😢😢😢. Brand New. All leather. Going to sell them.
Omg 😂yes I had some sliders and they had a hard sole frankinstien indeed I got rid of mine worn once totally with you on that ❤
I've only bought a few concert shirts as they were always too expensive for me at that time of my life, but I've run in some charity runs and a lot of these give you those unflattering cotton t-shirts and a friend of mine had all hers sewn into a quilt/blanket so she could have the memories but not have to wear them.
I loves me some '90's hip hop t-shirts for working out in and I have one I wear on the regular
Nice video. I really can't imagine that you fail too. Sorry for not being sorry 🤣 the band shirts I only buy If they look great. And then I wear them.
Yes unfortunately I do fail - luckily it doesn't happen often LOL x
I love my black Sambas and vests. 😄❤ And I love my Alice in Chains shirts!!!!
I have a creamy bootie that is just there, 😂😂 never wore them. 💸 Ty hun!❤
