In college I had alot on Chick Corea, Weather Report, Steely Dan and Down Beat Magazine in my head when I wasn't studying or playing baseball. If I had made more money in baseball I had plans to retire in Amsterdam or Luxemburg... Thanks for sharing Jan!!!
Agreed. In the early 90's, I was in university when I stumbled upon a boot-leg copy of a Last Train Home concert date done in Montreal, in front of 70 000 people. They were unbelievable and that little cassette tape changed the course of my guitar playing, forever...
사업을 하면서 5년간 함께한 직원이자 식구같았던 사람과의 관계를 며칠전 정리했습니다. 그냥 불현듯. 오늘까지만 하자라고 그렇게 정리를 했습니다. 매일 본인 회사인양 야근에 주 6일에 온몸을 던졌던 사람인데..같이 일하면서 많이도 웃고 많이도 부딪히고 그렇게 저도 여기까지 성장하고 자리를 잡았는데. 그 분만 그냥 이렇게 놓아버리게 했습니다. 그 분도 그냥 사직서를 담담히 쓰고 마치 내일도 나올 것 같은 사람처럼 그렇게 나갔습니다. 평소 좋아하던 팻매스니의 음악을 들으니 그의 음악에서 좋았던 기억. 힘들었던 시간들. 행복했던 시간들. 같이 견뎌낸 시간들이 다 떠오르네요. 시간이 약인걸 인생을 통해 알고 있지만 더 아프고 싶고 이 고통스러운 순간을 계속 가고 싶을만큼 안타깝습니다.
죽고 못 살 것 같았던 사이도 어느날 먼 과거의 연이 되기도 하고, 평생 다시 볼 일 없을 것 같았던 사람이 은인이 되기도 하듯 인연이란 참 신기한거죠. 함께해온 시간이 오래된 만큼 지금은 이별이 안타까우시겠지만 마음에 생채기가 될 만큼 오래 담아두진 마세요. 그 분과 인연이라면 다시 만나 함께 새로운 일을 도모할 수도 있고, 아니더라도 또 새로운 감사한 인연을 만나실 거예요. 흐르는 음악처럼 안타까운 마음도 흘러가게 해주세요 :)
His acoustic guitar is heavily influenced by the year or so he spent living in Brazil. There he learned from the Brazilians Bossa Nova musicians how to pluck the strings on an acoustic guitar. So, his style is more Brazilian than Mid Western!
His album as fall’s Wichita so fall’s Wichita Falls is my favorite. I lived in Wichita Falls for 9 yrs was at Shepard AFB training his music held me together in the early to mid 80s went to many of his concerts Lyle mays was a great member of the group such great music

Very timely Pat Metheny anthology on mostly acoustic guitar in light of his upcoming Tour starting September on solo electric guitar timed with release of his new "Dream Box" CD . The jewel here is Luiz Bonfa's "Manha de Carnaval." Looking forward to the concert in Troy, NY.
The best of this recording is Pat Metheny's sublime and amazing improvisatioin of Luiz de Bonfa's "Manha de Carnaval". He follows all the rules set by the great Jazz musician and pioneer Louis Armstrong on how a good improvisation ought to develop variations on the theme of the tune.Five stars!!,

어느날, 그날 하루쯤은 좋은 칸디션으로 일어나 팻의 기타를 들으며 꽤 멀리 가보고 싶다. 비싼 차는 아니더라도 그의 차분한 멜랑꼴리를 느낄 수 있을정도로 조용한 차를 몰며, 얼굴에 부서지는 한낮의 햇빛과 몸에 공명하는 기타 리프를 동시에 느끼며 편하게 그렇게 오래 가고 싶다.
If he recorded both guitar parts alone, you really can’t call it “duets”. I think calling it a solo record is appropriate if there are no other players, even if it’s multitracked.
@@SalimSivaad I disagree. Solo guitar music is solo. One instrument. One player. You really can call playing along with a pre recorded part a duet. It has been described that way for decades. On guitar, Julian Bream was playing and filming "duets" of himself, with himself, on guitars and lutes as long ago as the 1970s. They were accurately described as such. Metheny and these performances lose no credibility by being describing as duets with self. But whatever, i was just making an observation regarding expectations raised by the title, we can still enjoy the performances.

I watched specifically to see if Metheny's considerable skills stretched to solo guitar playing as is practised by those generally known as classical guitarists. I find that, in general, no, his skills don't really stretch into that area. He has formidable skills in melodic improvising, composing and accompaniment but not in solo guitar playing. He prefers to keep the two roles of melody and accompaniment separate and on two or more different instruments. That creates an ensemble performance, regardless of who plays the instruments.
