I always figured Hecate was Devlin’s real mark, not Feathersmith. I mean, she already had Feathersmith’s soul, so other than torturing him, there was no purpose in offering him a deal. What Devlin really wanted was to corrupt an innocent man, and Feathersmith was just the pawn, not the target. Hecate was the target.
