- Broadcasting legend and native Ohioan Lowell Thomas narrates this 1962 story on Carillon Park in Dayton, Ohio. Follow a young couple as they tour the outdoor historical museum. They experience among other things the 1835 John Quincy Adams, the oldest American-built locomotive in existence, and the 1905 Wright Flyer III, the worlds first practical airplane.
This film was my Dad’s pride and joy to produce. It was the subject of dinner table conversations....climbing the carillon three times to get those evening and landscape shots....hiring Lowell Thomas to narrate ...and being overall pleased with the result in 1962 Dayton. The park has since expanded....come visit it!
Hi Constance. This is Steve, Dayton History's curator. I enjoyed reading your comment. We love the film. What was your Dad's name? If you are interested, we would love to meet you and talk about the film.
What a great piece of history!
