Thanks again for another issue full of easy lessons....your a star. Could I please ask for a little advise?. When I imported a Gcode into Easel it gave me the message " invalid gcode syntax..line 166 " have you any ready advise? Keep up the good work.
You’re very welcome and congratulations on getting the FOXAlien. My best tips is to start slow and learn with each project. My videos are designed with lots of detail to help the beginner.
This is very interesting. I have 2 CNC milling machines and I do carvings on them. I have been wanting to to get a small CNC router and part with one of the mills. I like the looks of this and will be watching your channel for more information on it. The spindle is amazingly quiet. What gcodes will it read? I use Mach3 for my controller software but I doubt it could be used with this machine? Certainly has a good price point and for sure I am interested in it. The Z height is not as much as I would like and do you know if you can setup a 4th axis with it. I have one of those I made. Thanks for the information. Gary
Hello I have the fox alien masuter pro and I have the machine all put together and I can get it to run the design program but my spindle will not come on could you please give me some pointers of what I have to do to get my spindle to run? Thanks!
In the software you must include turning on and off the spindle. The controller you are using may have a Manuel means to add the gcode to turn it on and off
Tim Curtin again here, pawpaw… Question… Is there a way to set soft limits within the UGS or candle software? I had a much larger industrial machine at my shop, and Shop Sabre 3636 which is like 35 grand at the time I bought it and I can sense off-limits within the wind CNC software that controlled it much like UGS but it was also the software I used to send it jobs. Then helps avoid your code running into the limit switches when you’re running G code… I hope your answer will be a positive answer and that it has that feature… I have one other question for you as well if you don’t mind answering this too. What software would you recommend for doing your CAD design… I mainly developing aluminum brackets for projects I’m working on and prototyping. Can you sketch up work and I’ll put a profile to be brought in the candle to turn it into G code cam file/.NC file???
Two questions, if I may ; 1. How well does the Fox Alien operate with Aspire? 2. Once you set up a project in Aspire and 'calculate', does that essentially set it up in G-code format ? Thanks kindly!
Hi I watch a lot of your videos I have a problem and was wondering if u can help me I bought it and never used so it's been stored and just now using it it will go left and right forward and backwards but won't take the z up and down it don't throw up and Alan it just won't work when I try them the other motions stop them I have to reset and then the same thing happens over and over
@@PawPawsWorkShop I've tried both ugs and candle and both do the same the go in all directions until I try the z and then they stop to same with the offline controller.
We can't get this machine on Amazon UK, Amazon US wanted $180 for postage & import duty. I'll have to wait until it's available here ... eventually. Meanwhile..I'll drool !!
Is there anyone who has a video where they make a pattern or design on the computer and then create G-Code and send it to the Fox Alien CNC router? I am still looking.
Not sure I understand. When I use VCarve Pro and complete a design and the save the toolpaths, the gcode is generated by the software. I then use the Openbuilds software to run the gcode on the CNC machine.
Ive done all of what youve told me and i get this error in UGS: *** Connecting to jserialcomm://COM3:115200 >>> ? >>> ? >>> ? **** Connection closed **** I know its the correct port# but it still wont connect :(
For some reason it is not recognizing the CNC. Do you have Java on your computer? Most do. You need that for UGS. It’s a free download. The other option is to download the Openbuilds controller. I have switched to that software
Ok I figured it out. The Emergency switch was pressed on my FoxAlien box ;) Seems to be working now. Just need to learn and play around with UGS program.
So you got a USB drive from a Chinese company and you're just plugging it into your PC... and installing software from it... You are a brave man.
I truth FOXAlien. I do not trust all Chinese organizations
Thanks for sharing, Paw!!! This is my first time to watch the 4040-XE controlled by the UGS. I have learned a lot. Thanks again!!
I used UGS to control both machines. It works great using the UGS as the sender
I would like to see you design something simple on the computer and actually watch it work. Great vid.
Will do

Most likely there are arcs in the code. Easel does not support that
Thank u great information 👍
Glad it was helpful! You’re welcome
Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome
Thanks for the video, just got a foxalein so I'll be watching ur videos alot if u have any tips for beginners, that would be nice
Thank u

These machines run with GRBL. Not sure if that will work with Mach3. Yes, the spindle is extremely quiet. I do not believe it support the 4th axis.

Awesome
Would you share what Post Processor you use for the FoxAlien 4040-xe in Vcarve ?? AND Thank you for these wonderful instructive videos. ;-)
Forwarded to you. Thanks for watching

Thank you 💐❤️🇮🇶
Thanks
Is there offline controller for ex4040 ?
Some users may get an error loading this driver if the usb is not connected to the CNC during installation. Connect usb & try again
Thank you, great point

What controller are you using. I would check for loose and broken connections on the z axis
@@PawPawsWorkShop I've tried both ugs and candle and both do the same the go in all directions until I try the z and then they stop to same with the offline controller.
If both controllers are doing the same thing then the problem would be in the machine.
@@PawPawsWorkShop thank Goodness I bought a 4 year warranty on it
Do u think I should send it back or try to watch videos to try to figure it out my self
what post processor for foxalien 4040-xe? Using vcarve desktop

They have read your comment and I am sure that they are trying to solve the issue.
👍👍👍👌❤❤❤
Thank you very much
i just bought a ex foxailen 4040 pro and i just cant for the life of me get it linked to my laptop i just dont get it.
First, I would suggest downloading the Openbuilds controller. It’s free and works, in my opinion, works better than UGS
Is there a driver available for linux?

Ugs looks a lot different in the current version.
Yes, there are several versions. I have moved to Openbuilds controller. I love it
@@PawPawsWorkShop Good to know. I'll give it a look.
