Thank you so much that means a lot!! 🥹💜 I think we have a good variety so far and hopefully more newer jewelers will join in on sharing their journey here on RUclips! 🎉 💜
Thank you so much for sharing your process! I've been watching your channel for almost 6 months and it's sooooo cool to see you growing as a professional! You're my favorite jeweler on RUclips, and thank you for being yourself! I'm also into plants, so I'd recommend you to consider such low light plants as snake plant (sansevieria) and aglaonema (it has sooo many colorful variations). However, they still need to be placed close to the window.
Thank you so much for being here and sticking around with me, it means a lot! 🥹💜🙏🏻 and thank you for the plant recommendations, I’ll have to look into those for some of my next plants 🎉☺️
Plant suggestion! Get some grow lights! I have to supplement the natural light in my house. I got the GE Grow LED bulbs for greens and seeds and my plants absolutely LOVE them. I just put the bulbs into some gooseneck desk lamps and aim them where they need to go. I also have them plugged in to smart outlets so they’re on a timer and I never have to think about turning them on or off. ❤
10:00 I JUST WATCHED that episode of White Collar, like three nights ago. What on earth… anyway, really admire the way you handle your small business/art.
A place in Santa Cruz wanted me to work for them, and I was kind of stoked because I think I would have loved living where I would have lived. But when I went there to talk to them I seen the kind of jewelry they wanted me to make, and support I couldn’t do it. But I did teach them how to use there laser so them, and if they found a jeweler knew how to use it.
Thanks for sharing your journey of making beautiful jewelry! I work with polymer clay and some times I think is exhausting! But now I see that is nothing in comparison with all the process that you have to go through; you inspire me to keep going! Thank you so much! ❤
Love your work and your content. Thank you so much for showing all the ins and outs. I’m new to jewelry designing and your channel has been an invaluable resource for me.🤗🤩 Oh and I have horrible indoor lighting and have been using full spectrum LED grow Lights or bulbs I got off of amazon for years now. They both really work great especially in winter. Good luck and I can’t wait to see your new collection.
I find your videos so incredibly educational! Since 2016 I have been a self-taught silver / goldsmid and actually recently I have been immersing myself into the wax casting method. So, I'm very happy with your videos. I just have one question. Once you have made a plaster mold around your wax, you put it in an oven. Does the wax melt and that way you are left with a plaster mold? Where does the wax melt into, does it stay into the plaster mold? Love from the Netherlands!
Thank you for the post! I think I’ve watched every video at least 3 times 😅 I don’t have all the materials but I start sculpting wax and you’ve helped me realize it’s an art and doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. I love you work and your detailed videos are so helpful! Hope you have a great day! 🎉❤
@@MiteraMade you’re welcome! You should be so proud of yourself! I’m 27 and I know I think you said you were 29 and I aspire to be where you are when I turned 29! You’re amazing. I hope you know that!! 🩷🩷🩷
Do you have to send your wax pieces with the sprues already attached or will the casting house do that for me? I can’t afford my own equipment yet so for now I have to send them out, it’s all possible largely due in part to watching your videos!!!💗💗
Thank you for saying that!! You put in the time and effort though, I’m just happy to help!!!🥹🙏🏻💜 My casting company would attach the sprus for me but I would call and ask them if they charge you a fee to do so (they likely will for the time, my fee was about $3🫠). But I chose to let them do it because at the time I didn’t know the correct placement of sprues or the science behind it so I didn’t want to alter the outcome of their results lol 🙈
Hi. I'm a subscriber from Korea who recently subscribed to your RUclips channel. I'm always inspired for your journey. I have a question. I wonder if you made all the different size of rings you ordered before setting up the mold machine. I wonder how you carried out the ring shapes that are slightly different..!
Love this vlog format! When you're casting rings, how do you account for shrinkage? Do you make it slightly bigger in the wax or stretch it after casting?
Thank you!! It’s a ton of work but I really enjoy it so I’m glad you do as well! 🥹💜 thankfully I haven’t experienced shrinkage with my castings so I don’t do anything special, I’m sorry. 😭
Thank you!! 🥹 do you mean what’s the thinnest I can cast? If I understand the question correctly I would say about .5-.88mm which is usually the bezel wall area, I don’t make it any thinner than that or it may not fully form 💜
@@MiteraMade You're welcome! 🤗 Yes this answered my question. I've gotten different answers from various casters (typically they'd tell me like about 1mm, probably to be safe or something). Wow you must be very meticulous with your castings, thank you for your feedback.
I recently discovered your (beautifully produced) channel as I have an interest in starting this as a hobby. I am astounded at the sheer amount of effort that you put in to producing and packaging these pieces. May I ask one possibly silly question (from someone who knows nothing about this) - the wax moulding process is lengthy and requires specialised kit - is there no alternative to that process which would produce the ‘molten/rivulet’ effect? I’m guessing that the obvious answer is no, otherwise you’d be doing it 😊
Thank you so much Mark! 🙏🏻🥹 and that’s not a silly question at all! I suppose someone could sand and carve and use gravers to create the same look but I can only imagine the time and hand pain that that would cause 🙈😂
@@MiteraMade Hi, thanks for replying, much appreciated. I think I'll have a go with making simple design mock-ups in air-dry clay and if I have some success I'll proceed to silver (and maybe give the graver option a go!). Thanks again!
How much do you add just in case, and for ur spew ? lol. Do you have huge buttons ? lol. I don’t blame you one bit especially with all hand carved waxes. Ur brave.
Thank you so much that’s a great compliment as I’m always worried about lighting 🙈 I work in my basement so I feel like it’s lacking but maybe not? I use a Canon 80D and l just use window light and my normal room lights, no studio lights. 💜
Thank you so so much! 🙏🏻☺️ I try to make a mould of a ring that’s the most common size so around the six or seven, but if I’m not able to, it’s no problem because rings are really easy to resize and wax. 😊 I only make a mould of one ring and then anytime I get an order, I just resize it while it’s in wax 💜☺️
love your video's. how do you create the mold of your jewelry? Does this come from another company? I dont mean the ping wax molds, but the clear jell type substance that you were opening up in the beginning of the video.
Thank you!! 🥹 I make the silicone molds myself using some materials I got from Rio grande. I have a video a few back where I share how I do it and link the materials. 💜
I do gem stone faceting (as a hobby) for now anyway, and I have been doing a bit of silver smiting for about a year now and I'm just getting into lost wax method but I just don't understand how these pieces can be salt with the gems in them without it causing the gems to Crack, break, or explode? Do you ever have this happen?
Some stones can withstand the heat of casting, diamonds, sapphires, many lab stones, etc., I have had a stone crack on my TWICE, once I forgot it was in my flask and I quenched it which thermal shocked it (my fault) and the other was a fluke accident? I don’t know what happened lol. But alllll the other times I’ve done it it’s been great. I just stick to sapphires, Moissanite or lab gems that specifically say they can be cast in place. 🙏🏻
I melt the wax over the stone almost completely sometimes which gives it a perfect setting, then I use all of my carving tools and wax pen to clean and shape it up. 💜
Sorry as I watch I see stuff. I’ll stop. I get to buisy, and onto to buisy. lol. But that sticky wax in the melting little pots works great for spewing shit up fast. But it does spiderweb everywhere if ur not careful. U get use to it. Ok my bacons burning
