This is not normal wear and tear even after a few months. The bag is defective. They should be ashamed of trying to scam people out of their hard earned money. After paying so much with an expectation for it to last. It's a bag made from very poor quality materials.
Girl, this bag has caused you more stress than joy - just let it go. You will find something else that you love as much, if not more because it won’t stress you out as much.

Well i saw the bad stiching on the handle of the new maroon bag from 22 b collection in the prague store. The bag was lovely so i requested another piece. Well the another bag had peeling i told the SA and she was clearly agitated.
Is it only me or does the Chanel refund policy sucks. I mean to assess if it is normal wear and tear...totally ridiculous. If you cannot live with a pealing bag they should refund immediately. Can't you go back and ask for a refund straight away? You know you will mot be happy if they say oh we consider this normal wear and tear so we can't give you a refund. You do have statutory rights with regard to demanding a refund.
I did ask for a refund or at least a credit note but it has to go through their internal process - it really is ridiculous and I'm sure they'll try everything not to give us our money back!! 😔❤️ Xx
@@RominaRoseMay It's ridiculous the arrogance of that shop. You are the customer. You pay a ridiculous amount of money for an item. If you are not happy with it and they cannot rectify it easily (I mean a three-month wait is not an acceptable amount of time for a shop to see if damage is part of the normal wear and tear after four weeks of use of a bag. If eg they need to order a part that takes a while to make, I could understand but to establish if damage to a bag is normal wear and tear it is simply unacceptable for them to take three months. It would be more than fair that as a customer if you don't want to wait three months for their assessment, you at least can say I am not happy with this purchase and I want a refund now. It totally has put me off buying any sort of item from Chanel ever.

I have a purple Chanel22 and after two wears, I noticed a small peel and I immediately sent it back to the Chanel boutique and they will also send it to Paris and it will take 6 months (?!) to assess. Now I'm wondering how many damaged bags require repair 😱 to justify that amount of time.

I have been watching your videos and fascinated with your 22 bag journey since I splurged on two of these beauties ( one in white and the other in black) and haven’t had any issues. BUT…. I went into the boutique over the weekend and feel in love with the color combo you have. It looks so much more breathtaking in person. I couldn’t stop and think about you when I saw this bag. I think it’s the best color I have seen I hope Chanel figures it out and makes what ever corrections they need to do for this bag to help it wear they way it should.
So, first off, love the blazer. Secondly, I don't know if Chanel is trying to keep up with the demand and is just producing a bunch of low quality bags. Or they're producing bags with materials that are not complimentary to the functionality of the bag. If it's a drawstring bag and the bag is leather but when you use the drawstring it cracks the leather and damages the leather. Should they have used this type of material in a drawstring bag?

I’m very curious to see what Chanel’s “assessment” will be. For the money they price their bags they should be of top top quality and as a consumer we have the right to the top top service from luxury brands. I don’t own any “luxury” handbags but the bags I own are in my opinion good quality as they have served me well and are still going strong. Wishing you good luck Romina 🤞🏼
I’m shocked how little consideration that went into the materials they used for this bag. Like it feels like the metallic never should have been used for the bag. Also the drawstring design seems to really need to be thought out better when it comes to leather. I get is their first attempt at this, but they’ve made bucket type bags in the past that I assume haven’t had these problems. Like rich people are rich, but they kinda expect their expensive bags to last the season. The fun colors aren’t even doing that. I love the blazer/suit.

Hey Romina! I've seen this video before but I am here again to comment! My apologies. So my SA called me and informed me about the new Chanel 22 in tweed and I was so excited about it! I went to check on their website and see what other colors they have available and I accidentally zoomed in to the strap of 1 of their tweed bag and right there on their official website Chanel displayed a defective bag where the leather strap was cracking. I took so many screen shots and send it to my friends and we all agreed its not the lighting or dust but we need an expert opinion can you please look?

My jumbo caviar classic flap bought in 2/2022 is with chanel right now. Wore it once and went to use it a second time for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Noticed that the entire top flap had a dent or “pore” or “eye” in the center of every pebble over most if not all of the quilts. I have bought chanel since 2003 and none of my caviar pieces have that especially to that extent. Will be finding out what happens over next few weeks. Sent to an artisan as well. Omg I got the same with the new Gucci tote... the leather colour cracked, white underneath... the coating came off after using the bag for only 5 times. Sadly such brands dont stand for quality anymore.
You gave it longer than I would have. I wouldn't have accepted their lame excuses last time, and insisted they take it back then. After only one week and seeing how it was cracking and rubbing, I wouldn't have invested my heart into it anymore. I know it's hard to give up something you love and wanted so badly, but this isn't a mere Ł100 bag. Even if it were only Ł1000, that is too much to waste on something you could only wear one month. I'm just at the point where you're walking in the store, I hope everything goes smoothly. Hope you're taking it back to that b*tch that yelled at you... she deserves the return, and hopefully gets it from her superiors.

There is no reason why they couldn't have made a professional decision right then and there. There are multiple cracks and chipping, and the areas around the stitching look like they're about to let go, as well. You had already been in there at one week, which should have set the precedence. I'm sorry, but if I were to spend Ł5000, or more, on a bag and got service like that, I'd be hard pressed to want to give them my business, anymore. I don't know, maybe I'm feeling that way because I'm not in love with the bag, and am not invested in it, like you. But, I am a stickler when it comes to customer service. Without us, they wouldn't be where they are. And, paying that kind of money for anything deserves premium customer service. No matter how rich one is. And, trust me, the very wealthy would not tolerate it, either (for your friend that seems to think rich people would just go buy another... HA!) LOL.
Hi Romina, sorry to hear about the further damage, however after the damage you shown us in your previous post, this is not unsurprising. My little investigation on the leather and finish has been hard, without having the bag, an assessment from photos only it's difficult and not as reliable. However, my sources so far agree on the following: the bag is made of leather; the metallic finish is applied on top of the leather, but it is not a dye, so it will not sink in. Furthermore, the problem seems to be the coating on top of this metallic finish, what we could call the shimmering effect. This is like a glazing. This glaze is not fully adhesive and eventually it will detach from the metallic coating taking with it some of the metallic pigment or bubbling up and blistering, a bit like a blister of cling film. This is the result of my research so far. Now, no leather metallic finish with glaze has been successful in any luxury brand I could research. However, there was an exception in recent days. And it is Gucci. A few years ago, Gucci designed leather crinkled foil gold finish for Marmont moccasins and some small Padlock bags called 'Galaxy'. The crackling finish here makes the leather less likely to peel off , because there no tension, no friction, no pulling between leather and stiches. Mind you, even this finish is not hardwearing, it is not an every day bag or these are not everyday shoes. However, this is the most long lasting metallic finish so far. Similarly it can be said about the Chanel gauffre' (or gaufre) fabric finish of the Coco handle bag - you own one, if I recall correctly - but, as you can see, this is 'crinkled' metallic fabric, no painted, no glazed; once again, the gaufre' style is preventing or at least minimizing the tension or pulling of the stitching. With reg. to the Chanel 22, I think you are doing the right thing: first go locally (Harrods) for the assessment, then move up. Keep us posted, I am sure that your experience will be very helpful to others in your situation, because I am quite certain there must be other clients experiencing your same issues with the same bag. That’s unacceptable for a luxury brand, not only Chanel but the other brands are constantly raising prices and cutting costs for manufacturing the pieces.
It is staggering that so much damage can happen to a bag that costs so much and that it happened so quickly. I know it is easy for me to say, but if they don't repair or replace, I would say consider bringing the law into it! Thank you for the video. Hoping it can be sorted out.
I'm not too impressed with the style of the 22. I prefer the more structured Chanel bags. I hear there are quality issues with many other Chanel styles now. I'm hoping Chanel decides to make major changes or I will not be investing money in Chanel unless it's an older bag.
Hi, I'm really sorry to know know what had happened to your lovely chanel 22 bag - yet all metallic leather are all the same (coated, dyed) - The leather will crack/peel, the color will fade way easily than normal color/treatment. I would not say Chanel is not responsible for this yet it's really common in all these metallic materials. Hope they will offer a good solution to you and hope to see more of your vlogs coming !

Ahhh, so sorry this happened to your favourite bag. I do not think they can solve though. This is the nature of the leather treatment not a default item. if they can get you another one it will turn out like this again after some use. They might get you store credit.
Romina, I have to say I was never a fan of the 22 bag, but since you got it, I think it might be better to just keep it and take it in for repairs once in awhile. All the Chanel bags aren’t made to be durable, except for the wool bags. The lamb skin leather is too delicate, scratches easily and has to be protected in any sort of weather environments.
@@RominaRoseMay you can always opt for a local leather repair shop…they often do excellent work and can fix anything from leather to canvas and anything else and much less expensive than fixing directly with Chanel

Honestly, those are stress fractures in the top layer and WILL get worse. Chanel should repair it for you, but they'll probably just paint it over. The inherent design flaws will not survive an overlay of paint. I confess, I bought a super fake in Navy, because they didn't have purple - but I loved the color of yours. I save my $$$$ for Chanel vintage and buy super fakes in seasonal releases, but maybe once a year.
I wonder if the slow repair services is their way to deter people from trying to get their items repaired. I mean it’s not exactly rocket science. Anyway good luck!

I faced same problem with chanel flab bag in blue color , it damaged from the edges specially at the bottom and back after I complained they send it to Paris for repair but unfortunately the repairing was impossible so I end up with a credit and no more lovely bag 🥹

I agree with everyone else that this bag isn’t worth your headache anymore. This is not a luxury experience. The bag is made very poorly and no one should have to experience this after spending thousands of dollars or pounds. Just a quick example, my Michael Kors leather jacket, which was purchased at a discounted price at TJmaxx, is in the same shape of your bag after more than 5 years of wearing on so many trips, even out in the rain. It wasn’t even a luxury brand. Anyway, best wishes for you and I hope you get your money back. (I think a bubble tea will at least instantly make your day better 😉😘)

Well i saw the bad stiching on the handle of the new maroon bag from 22 b collection in the prague store. The bag was lovely so i requested another piece. Well the another bag had peeling i told the SA and she was clearly agitated.

Is it only me or does the Chanel refund policy sucks. I mean to assess if it is normal wear and tear...totally ridiculous. If you cannot live with a pealing bag they should refund immediately. Can't you go back and ask for a refund straight away? You know you will mot be happy if they say oh we consider this normal wear and tear so we can't give you a refund. You do have statutory rights with regard to demanding a refund.
I did ask for a refund or at least a credit note but it has to go through their internal process - it really is ridiculous and I'm sure they'll try everything not to give us our money back!! 😔❤️ Xx
@@RominaRoseMay It's ridiculous the arrogance of that shop. You are the customer. You pay a ridiculous amount of money for an item. If you are not happy with it and they cannot rectify it easily (I mean a three-month wait is not an acceptable amount of time for a shop to see if damage is part of the normal wear and tear after four weeks of use of a bag. If eg they need to order a part that takes a while to make, I could understand but to establish if damage to a bag is normal wear and tear it is simply unacceptable for them to take three months. It would be more than fair that as a customer if you don't want to wait three months for their assessment, you at least can say I am not happy with this purchase and I want a refund now. It totally has put me off buying any sort of item from Chanel ever.

I have a purple Chanel22 and after two wears, I noticed a small peel and I immediately sent it back to the Chanel boutique and they will also send it to Paris and it will take 6 months (?!) to assess. Now I'm wondering how many damaged bags require repair 😱 to justify that amount of time.

I have been watching your videos and fascinated with your 22 bag journey since I splurged on two of these beauties ( one in white and the other in black) and haven’t had any issues. BUT…. I went into the boutique over the weekend and feel in love with the color combo you have. It looks so much more breathtaking in person. I couldn’t stop and think about you when I saw this bag. I think it’s the best color I have seen I hope Chanel figures it out and makes what ever corrections they need to do for this bag to help it wear they way it should.

So, first off, love the blazer. Secondly, I don't know if Chanel is trying to keep up with the demand and is just producing a bunch of low quality bags. Or they're producing bags with materials that are not complimentary to the functionality of the bag. If it's a drawstring bag and the bag is leather but when you use the drawstring it cracks the leather and damages the leather. Should they have used this type of material in a drawstring bag?

For the money they price their bags they should be of top top quality and as a consumer we have the right to the top top service from luxury brands. I’m shocked how little consideration that went into the materials they used for this bag. Like it feels like the metallic never should have been used for the bag.
Also the drawstring design seems to really need to be thought out better when it comes to leather.
I get is their first attempt at this, but they’ve made bucket type bags in the past that I assume haven’t had these problems.
Like rich people are rich, but they kinda expect their expensive bags to last the season. The fun colors aren’t even doing that.

Hey Romina! I've seen this video before but I am here again to comment! My apologies. So my SA called me and informed me about the new Chanel 22 in tweed and I was so excited about it! I went to check on their website and see what other colors they have available and I accidentally zoomed in to the strap of 1 of their tweed bag and right there on their official website Chanel displayed a defective bag where the leather strap was cracking. I took so many screen shots and send it to my friends and we all agreed its not the lighting or dust but we need an expert opinion can you please look?

My jumbo caviar classic flap bought in 2/2022 is with chanel right now. Wore it once and went to use it a second time for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Noticed that the entire top flap had a dent or “pore” or “eye” in the center of every pebble over most if not all of the quilts. I have bought chanel since 2003 and none of my caviar pieces have that especially to that extent. Will be finding out what happens over next few weeks. Sent to an artisan as well. Omg I got the same with the new Gucci tote... the leather colour cracked, white underneath... the coating came off after using the bag for only 5 times.

You gave it longer than I would have. I wouldn't have accepted their lame excuses last time, and insisted they take it back then. After only one week and seeing how it was cracking and rubbing, I wouldn't have invested my heart into it anymore. I know it's hard to give up something you love and wanted so badly, but this isn't a mere Ł100 bag. Even if it were only Ł1000, that is too much to waste on something you could only wear one month. I'm just at the point where you're walking in the store, I hope everything goes smoothly. @@RominaRoseMay I just finished watching it... how ridiculous to have to wait 3 more weeks! The assessment team saw it while you were there. There is no reason why they couldn't have made a professional decision right then and there. There are multiple cracks and chipping, and the areas around the stitching look like they're about to let go, as well. You had already been in there at one week, which should have set the precedence. I'm sorry, but if I were to spend Ł5000, or more, on a bag and got service like that, I'd be hard pressed to want to give them my business, anymore. I don't know, maybe I'm feeling that way because I'm not in love with the bag, and am not invested in it, like you. But, I am a stickler when it comes to customer service. Without us, they wouldn't be where they are. And, paying that kind of money for anything deserves premium customer service. No matter how rich one is. And, trust me, the very wealthy would not tolerate it, either (for your friend that seems to think rich people would just go buy another... HA!) LOL.

Hi Romina, sorry to hear about the further damage, however after the damage you shown us in your previous post, this is not unsurprising. My little investigation on the leather and finish has been hard, without having the bag, an assessment from photos only it's difficult and not as reliable. However, my sources so far agree on the following: the bag is made of leather; the metallic finish is applied on top of the leather, but it is not a dye, so it will not sink in. Furthermore, the problem seems to be the coating on top of this metallic finish, what we could call the shimmering effect. This is like a glazing. This glaze is not fully adhesive and eventually it will detach from the metallic coating taking with it some of the metallic pigment or bubbling up and blistering, a bit like a blister of cling film. This is the result of my research so far. Now, no leather metallic finish with glaze has been successful in any luxury brand I could research. However, there was an exception in recent days. And it is Gucci. A few years ago, Gucci designed leather crinkled foil gold finish for Marmont moccasins and some small Padlock bags called 'Galaxy'. The crackling finish here makes the leather less likely to peel off , because there no tension, no friction, no pulling between leather and stiches. Mind you, even this finish is not hardwearing, it is not an every day bag or these are not everyday shoes. However, this is the most long lasting metallic finish so far. Similarly it can be said about the Chanel gauffre' (or gaufre) fabric finish of the Coco handle bag - you own one, if I recall correctly - but, as you can see, this is 'crinkled' metallic fabric, no painted, no glazed; once again, the gaufre' style is preventing or at least minimizing the tension or pulling of the stitching. With reg. to the Chanel 22, I think you are doing the right thing: first go locally (Harrods) for the assessment, then move up. Keep us posted, I am sure that your experience will be very helpful to others in your situation, because I am quite certain there must be other clients experiencing your same issues with the same bag. Hi, I'm really sorry to know know what had happened to your lovely chanel 22 bag - yet all metallic leather are all the same (coated, dyed) - The leather will crack/peel, the color will fade way easily than normal color/treatment. I would not say Chanel is not responsible for this yet it's really common in all these metallic materials. Hope they will offer a good solution to you and hope to see more of your vlogs coming !

Ahhh, so sorry this happened to your favourite bag. I do not think they can solve though. This is the nature of the leather treatment not a default item. if they can get you another one it will turn out like this again after some use. They might get you store credit.

Romina, I have to say I was never a fan of the 22 bag, but since you got it, I think it might be better to just keep it and take it in for repairs once in awhile. All the Chanel bags aren’t made to be durable, except for the wool bags. The lamb skin leather is too delicate, scratches easily and has to be protected in any sort of weather environments.
But they always say they can't repair the leather itself - only hardware etc. unfortunately!! ❤️❤️❤️ Xx

Honestly, those are stress fractures in the top layer and WILL get worse. Chanel should repair it for you, but they'll probably just paint it over. The inherent design flaws will not survive an overlay of paint. I confess, I bought a super fake in Navy, because they didn't have purple - but I loved the color of yours. I save my $$$$ for Chanel vintage and buy super fakes in seasonal releases, but maybe once a year.

No need to be a leather expert to see that their leather for this bag are made of poor quality! Only after over a month of wear, no quality leather have such marks and cracklings. Chanel didn't have to be rude what happened to customer service going above and beyond people should really stop supporting them
I faced same problem with chanel flab bag in blue color , it damaged from the edges specially at the bottom and back after I complained they send it to Paris for repair but unfortunately the repairing was impossible so I end up with a credit and no more lovely bag 🥹

I agree with everyone else that this bag isn’t worth your headache anymore. This is not a luxury experience. The bag is made very poorly and no one should have to experience this after spending thousands of dollars or pounds.
Just a quick example, my Michael Kors leather jacket, which was purchased at a discounted price at TJmaxx, is in the same shape of your bag after more than 5 years of wearing on so many trips, even out in the rain. It wasn’t even a luxury brand.
Anyway, best wishes for you and I hope you get your money back.
