As in the previous video, this is using Firmware release 1.02.00 Main / 1.07.03 Sub
I am comparing the SDS200 to a NooElec SDR running under Ubuntu with GQRX software.

Good video, 1Mhz either side of center is nice do you have access to something wider, like a spectrum analyzer? I appreciate your videos!
I *had* one, until one of the caps in the power supply went. (or at least that is what I hope happened).
I do have a airSPY and that should give me 5MHz either side, which is better than 1MHz.

A $10 dongle can get you 2 .4 mHz wide

I have had 2 sds 200's in a row with this problem. You are much better off with the bcd 536hp which works fine.
This hasn't been a problem for me since I upgraded to the latest firmware. You may want to give that a try if you haven't already.
Yep, even a $21.00 NooElec dongle will outperform the Uniden SDS200. Thanks for sharing.

@@danbowman3095 My $23 dongle and free SDR# and DSD+ will play slot 1 out of the left speaker and slot 2 out of the right speaker on a DMR syatem. The SDS200 has only one speaker so while I am listening to two conversations at the same time the SDS200 is missing one of them.
My SDS 200 does that too. Will there be a update that may fix this? If not I might return it.
Does your SDS do this while scanning Favorites Lists as well?
@@ScannerSchool I don't have a favorites list as of now but I have the scanner locked to my local police. They use PROVOICE EDACS in Honolulu. I noticed this issue with some other department frequencies as well. Doesn't happen all the time. Otherwise I really like the scanner.
@@bryanthompson4323 Uniden just released new FW today. I'm not sure if it will help our problem, but we'll soon find out.
@@ScannerSchool Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully it will solve this problem. Update: I just updated the firmware on my SDS and haven't noticed the muting problem so far. I guess time will tell. Wish they could make the Sentinel Software compatible with my iMac.
@@bryanthompson4323 I run windows 10 in Parallel on my Mac. It works pretty well.
This is the same problem simply mentioned in two videos, not something I would call a follow-up. You seemed to fail to mention the Firmware in this video and that there is a new Firmware to correct the issues you were seeing. I will await the true follow-up video to be posted, and this to have further flushed-out details posted.
Do you mean like the piece of metal that doesn't fix the hum issue and is being installed incorrectly at the factory?
@@danbowman3095 You lie. Even Uniden said it was not a fix but just meant to mitigate or lessen it. Plenty of people still have the hum after the band aid metal chunk.

Nothing beats my Unication G5 never had anything come in as clear as this. No matter where it is sitting it comes in awesome coat pocket, upside down , in a couch cushion doesn't matter it picks up clear as day. I'll never buy a police scanner ever again . The G5 is just like having the actual police or fire hand held radio .
I'm glad you only monitor 1 of a Systems Site at a time, good luck using that as a scanner.

@@danbowman3095 i I commented jackass to let people know the G5 is commercial grade and has no simulcasts distortion comes in way better than any Uniden scanner ever could. I have had several Uniden scanners and none of them work as well as this. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they are spamming you dipshit. Over paid? These new Uniden scanners are over priced they cost more than a G5. Seems to me the truth hurts but keep promoting garbage
@@danbowman3095 your a complete idiot. The G5 blows these scanners away just check all the reviews on RUclips moron. The G5 picks up traffic while these garbage Uniden scanners just keep on scanning. The guts in a G5 are the same as the police and fire department radios. The G5 works or fire departments wouldn't be using them. All you have to do is program the G5 the way you want and it works great. Anyone looking to buy this garbage first check all the comparison reviews of the G5 and these Uniden scanners on RUclips and make your own opinion .
Uniden better get off their butt and fix this issue, the hum, the dimly backlit keyboard and the display issues. The metal chunk fix for the hum doesn't eliminate it and is being installed wrong at the factory. The worst thing is losing the audio which is the main purpose of a scanner and completely unacceptable.
You are NOT "losing the audio" WTF does that even mean?
@@danbowman3095 It meabs the scanner will stop on an active frequency, start playing audio, then go silent in the middle of the voice transmission. Stop trolling.
