      Forgot about the strain test . You will lose the entire product if the tension screw goes missing. There are too many separate parts... This looks cool but is a risky product.

      You're the first comment I've seen that's actually critical. I too would like to see a working load and shock load tests on this. Pretty cool design if it meets a safe load limit.

      If I lose a tool, expecially a cheap one like a screwdriver or an Allen wrench I rage buy about 10 of the same thing.
      Those 5 in 1 orange screwdrivers? I have 10 and I know where about 8 of them are at any given time lol.

      @@AG-en5y Allen keys are rarely kept in a tool belt. Mechanics keep them in a drawer, tradesmen keep them in a tool tote until they are need. Tool belts are for tradesmen doing something repetitive like putting in hangers and supports, none need Allen keys.

      @@ricasiogaming7873 Because it’s a coupler. Not a link! Couplers are designed to be uncoupled. Links are welded for permanence. It does not take a great deal of mental gymnastics to figure out. You just gotta think about it for a half a second…… Essentially all that’s required is the competency of a goldfish.

    I just found their Website. Its called the UKS chainlock by RUD. The Idea was to have a chainlock that doesn't get destroyed when you drive over it. And you could probably run a linked chain through a hoist.

    that is a very good temporary repair. That's all these are for anyway, better looking mechanical lock, more surface area and self tightening.

    This is one of those products where the engineer behind it thought “Wow, this could be great! I bet this’ll be very useful” and then the person that actually gets stuck testing / using it carries the burden.

    there are a lot of comments knocking this thing, but it has applications in the field. typically this type of linkage reduces the load rating of the chain by about 50% however. Just remember to read your documentation when doing anything involving rigging or lifting.

    Довольно надежное соединение. В шахтах применяется на скребковых конвейерах ( 4 -е двигателя на 110 кВт каждый ) и на тяговых цепях комбайнов .

    It's fine, until the chain vibrates and that small thing keeping the link together gets loose and the whole thing falls apart.
    Or when those small teeth break...
    Other than that, it's great.

    For field repair of conveyor chains. It should say this in big letters in the video so we aren’t assuming it’s a dumb invention for more common chain applications like tying down heavy loads to trailers.

    I guess it could be good in an emergency situation but if you're in a situation where your chain broke and you needed to use that chances are you're in a lot deeper than that could get you out.

    В самом тонком месте может щека согнуться или лопнуть. И вся конструкция рассыпится.
    Кроме того, центральная деталь мягче остальных и может всать наискось. Всё это ведет к выроботке, которая приведет к люфту

    I would only use this in lockout tagout operations and static loading. Not for dynamic loading.

    There should be a stronger connection that gives some horizontal strength so that is can handle twists better, also I feel like a way stronger brace could g between but also around them so it could be hammered in or at least wasn't such a small easy to drop piece

    Interesting device and it sure has many uses. But this part will always be the fail point on any chain. I wonder how much stress it can bear and what happens when it fails. Like, would it explode and fragment?

    Omg when I drove for Halliburton we had to chain up all the time. The first setup was always close but one loop short. Roll forward and tighten. Roll forward and tighten. Etc…

    The second clip is of a differently designed product. Looks to be an older design with the teeth oriented in a weaker way and without the nodules to keep them from sliding past one another as the link deforms under stress.

    Chains are for securing things. Get a big padlock instead of this. They require a key or lockpicking skills to open, whereas this device only requires an allen wrench to be rendered useless.

    People giving this product crao for being the weakest link are missing the point. This is most likely meant to be a temporary fix, to allow finishing a job until they get a chance to properly fis the chain.

    I can't help but feel like this is a complex solution when there are just simpler ones that work really reliably. 😅 Honestly, I feel like simplicity on something like a chain link could be really valuable since simple designs have less to go wrong with them most of the time.

    A shackle has 2 pieces and you can use it by hand or pretty much any tool you have, be that a hammer, screwdriver, adjustable wrench or any thongs. This has 3 pieces and needs an allen bit. How is this innovative again?

    Why are all the comments on this so extremist? Either your application is within the product's specs and it also offers a practical benefit in which case get some, OR one of those things aren't true in which case don't...if those details aren't known and planned for out ahead of time, you shouldn't be using any form of that kind of chain in any capacity.
