Excellent and very accurate review Bryan. For the newbs to Credit cards the first 3:30 is perfect. Listen to this guy. It’s spot on advice 👌🏽Even though you mentioned 5 or 6 or more reasons within your first “2” steps 👍🏽 I love it. Well done 😅 I’ve used multiple CC’s (Credit Cards) for over 20 years. I would totally agree the points systems work across many levels. Flights, monetary value, gift cards or even appliances if you need them. The best way I found myself(back in the early 2000s) I was using points for Petrol station gift cards as this gave an extra 20% usage spend ahead of the rest of the field. Being more frugal back in my younger years this was awesome as I would get $120 worth of fuel for only using $100 in points. It’s not the same now. But I had a great run over many years. Also multiple overseas return and one way flights using points. Im still in Greece Bryan another beer down the hatch too 🍺 😎
That's awesome mate! I wish I could apply the points to fuel given the price these days! Credit cards aren't for everyone but I figure, if you're watching my channel, chances are you are a financially responsible adult who should be taking advantage of these great deals. Enjoy your time 🇬🇷🍻
Hi Bryan, recently found your channel. Great video! Could you make a video on the best credit cards to apply for and their perks? Or maybe make a video of the ones you use? Thank you!
Another awesome video Bryan. I've never trusted myself enough to get a credit card, but it's good to know about the smart ways they can be used! Love the concept of timing sign up bonuses with a wedding or big expenditure, free honeymoon is an AMAZING concept!
Absolutely. Credit cards aren’t for everyone but my theory is anyone who managed to watch this entire video all the way through, and understood it, has the correct discipline to use a credit card properly 😊
I've never owned a credit card, but I might give this a try! I like how you spend your points on coles/woolies gift cards as it's practically free money. Great video and tips at the end too.
I currently live in the middle of Australia and flights home to Melbourne to visit family can be more expensive than flying to Bali. I always hated the idea of using a credit card and preferred to use my own money but I found out about juggling a credit card a few years back to earn reward points, and now i get nearly 2 return flights to visit family per year from simply using a credit card for my daily expenses. Of course i pay off the full amount every month so i don't pay any interest but i didn't know you could set up direct debit, ill have to look into that.
Yeah I used to be think the same. If you’re going to spend that money responsibly anyway, then why not use a credit card and get points for it? The problem is a lot of people get a credit card and think it’s free money and it doesn’t even occur to them to pay it off in full each month. Yes, you can definitely set up a direct debit on any credit card. However, some make it hard and inconvenient to do so. I always do it first.
Hi Bryan. Is there a downside to paying EXTRA on your credit card, thus making it almost like a debit card for the upcoming month? Talking for the purpose of raising my credit score as a new entrant into Australia. Or should I stick to the "maintain 1-3% balance when it's statement date, then pay it all off before the due date"? Thanks in advance buddy.
Hey Timothy, there's no downside but I don't see any upside either. Credit scores in Australia doesn't seem to be as strict as the US. As long as you pay back your credit card statement in full consistently, your credit score will continue to be high. I've been using multiple credit cards over the years and have set up an auto direct debit on each one so I never get caught out. I don't think you need to do any fancy strategy like painting 1-3% or only using less than 20% of your credit limit like I see people online suggest. From my experience, the most important thing is you never miss a payment.
I watched several videos from this channel, but I found the guy speaking extremely faster speed. It would be great if the speed is reduced slightly. Thanks
is there a card that you would recommend that ticks all of the boxes, we do not travel alot, but the woolies vouchers sounds great. just wondering if I swapped my debit card for a credit card would i have more perks as long as I paid balance in full each month. I wouldnt need a large limit maybe 3k
I can't recommend a specific one but I use OzBargain and Point Hacks to find the current best deals. I've left some links on my pinned comment. If you read the comments on OzB for each deal, they will tell you which cards are good in their experience. You would absolutely have more perks like reward points and insurance if you switched to a credit card provided you always pay it off in full. I'd choose one with a low/no annual fees and a good sign up bonus.
how about cash advance we need more information, even transaction they charge for cash advance, I can use only utilities bills and groceries with my credit card to avoid charges, and also how is linked to paypal???
1. I would avoid cash advance completely. That’s not how I would recommend to use a credit card. 2. Yes, majority of your spend should be for utilities and groceries. Remember, you should only use your credit card for things you were going to buy anyway. 3. You need to open up a PayPal account and manually link your card by logging in.
Are credit cards worth it for 19 year olds? I understand that people use credit cards for mortages and what not, but I'm not too sure when i would use a credit card over a debit card.
They are definitely not a necessity for a 19 year old. However, if you have the discipline to only spend what you need and was going to buy anyway then a credit card makes sense to get the free points plus all the other perks. My only concern is a 19 year old will have too much temptation with a credit limit. It’s important to remember that credit limit is not free money. Every cent needs to be paid back. Credit card debt is real and it can really set you back in your 20s. Also, people who use credit cards for mortgages are not using it correctly. Please don’t do this if you ever have a mortgage.
@@AvTr246 Probably not worth it to be honest at your age and for those small expenses. I would focus on making money at your age. At 19, you can afford to take risks to make money. Learn a new skill. Start your own business/side hustle. The world is at your feet. Leave the credit cards for when you need to plan a wedding/build a house etc.
@@BryanInvest Hey Bryan!! Hope you are doing well - Your videos have educated me so much about the real world and finance. I've just turned 21 - and was hoping to revisit this topic, was there a credit card/options that you would recommend that I explore. I've seen many friends of mine start applying for credit cards - and i was wondering if it was a good option to start now etc... Thanks!

Good idea. I'll put it on the list. I just have so many ideas right now haha.
Good advice 👍

Yes . This guy has the right idea.. treat credit cards like it's you own money.

Hi, which is the best credit card to apply for in Commonwealth Bank.
Thanks
I've been waiting for a new video! What do you think about paying off the balance each time you make a purchase??
It’s a good habit but I find it a bit time consuming. I prefer to let direct debit take care of it every month.
