I meant to leave this comment about a week ago, but for whatever daft reason I didn’t. Now it feels too late. A Pair of Brown Eyes, as a song, as a piece of writing, means so much to me. It has followed me everywhere. Naturally, I’ve always scoured the internet for covers just to see how other people feel it. This rendition of yours has something of the sublime in it. The cadences. Everything. I dare say I prefer it to the Christy Moore cover (though obviously different). The last few months I found myself coming back to this cover more and more for some reason, especially as it looked like Shane was getting increasingly unwell. Now he’s actually gone. Feeling incredibly solemn today. Your voice aligned with Shane’s words are fitting for this moment. Rest in peace mate. And thank you for this beautiful rendition.
