The premise of this game is *not* original: anyone who’s jonesing to get a taste before this drops should check out wave break! As a hardcore THPS fan, that game really scratched the itch!
Did anyone say this *was* an original concept? Literally every review of it cites like 3 different other things as the main source influences. The key difference between this and Wave Break is that Rollerdrome has style and lacks the learning curve that Wave Break has. I’ve played both games and as someone who wanted to love Wave Break, Rollerdrome is a vastly superior game. Your comment feels like someone slamming THPS1 because it wasn’t the first arcade style skateboard game. You’re not wrong, but it’s also not what Rollerdrome is claiming to be, it just happens to be novel insofar as it’s the only current arcade extreme sports shooter that is actually fun for a wide audience.
Ah, yes, comparisons to that famous roller skating champion, Tony Hawk... But seriously, let's start comparing this to Aggressive Inline (an actual rollerblading game) and see if we can generate interest in a remake!
