Game baseballs are renewed very regularly in MLB games and don't get a chance to soften. The seam is also twice the length and stitching is more prone than central seam of cricket ball.

Yeah young kids get scared of catching a Cricket ball as well, they have to be taught the correct procedure so as not to hurt their hands. Once they know the right procedure they lose the fear. (knowledge brings power)
The most difficult part of these catches in the deep is not so much the catch itself but judging exactly where you need to be to make the catch. If you suddenly realise it's going over your head or falling short you're not going to catch it.
I got hit in the face once fielding at deep mid wicket, I was facing the sun but thought I had made good position to catch it, I was just off a bit and the ball went through my fingers and in to my face giving me a blackeye and left the seam mark on my cheek.
Harder then baseballs but you play cricket from an early age and you learn how to catch with soft hands. Once it becomes a reflex it's not very hard in the hand, do it wrong though and you will break bones
Indeed. I mostly fielded at first slip. For the uninitiated, that is the position behind the batsman, to the immediate side of the wicket keeper (who does wear gloves). You are waiting for a batsman to 'edge' the ball. From a fast bowler that is going at some rate, and you are not that far away. Reflexes are everything in that position. Fielding in the outfield, waiting an eternity for a ball to come down, was not my idea of fun! :)
@@davejones7632 when I was a kid I played more on the boundary as I was pretty good at hitting high balls but as an adult it turned out I had surprisingly good reflexes for fast balls off the bat
So in that last one, it had to be caught by a team mate cos he didn't hold the catch without going beyond the boundary. The alternative is number 2 where he returns to the field and catches it himself.
They deliberately hit the ball to all parts of the ground depending on the delivery, the shot you said wasn’t a good hit was called a cut shot, which means the ball was probably on a shorter length and outside the line of his off stump.
Bro just watch Major League Cricket in your country , Indian Premier League, or Caribbean Premier League, or Big Bash League, or Any t20 league you will love the game .
With the last catch he could have just thrown it on the ground and as long as he did so before treading on or over the boundary rope the only runs scored would be how many the batsmen were able to run, which would probably have been two runs, instead of the six runs if the ball had cleared the boundary.
When you catch a cricket ball you allow it to arrive and take back your hand to soften the arrival of the ball. Played cricket and you do not attack the ball you allow it to arrive and you slow it down. I still don't understand why they say in baseball they are great catches when you have a glove to help you.
It's called a boundary not the edge of the field or out of bounds. The rope or triangles now is the boundary line. A catch most be court on the full which is why most players use the cup or reverse cup technique when catching
Yeah, a cricket ball's definitely heavier than a baseball. A baseball usually weighs between 5 and 5.25 ounces. Cricket balls are a bit beefier, coming in between 5.5 and 5.75 ounces.
The difference in manufacturer's specifications means the cricket ball would have 5-10% more force when travelling at the same speed. So which one would you prefer to be standing in front of if both are coming at you at say, 60MPH if you can't stop it.? Cricket balls go soft during the time they are in the game whereas baseballs are being renewed very regularly and an average of 20-30 can be used in any MLB game. The stitched seam on a baseball is also twice the length of a cricket ball making it more prone to cause cutting injuries. Now you have some balance to your comment.
To make a fair catch, you must catch the ball before it touches the ground and then have control of the ball. If you catch a ball close to the boundary and step over the boundary rope with the ball in hand, the batter gets six runs and is not out. If after catching the ball you throw it infield before you step on the ground over the line and then return and catch the ball again or another fielder catches the ball you have thrown, it is a fair catch and the batter is out. There was a good example of a fielder throwing it to himself and one where he threw it to a teammate in that collection.

Yes, cricket balls hurt. First time I tried the game as a little kid, I tried to stop a ball rolling along the ground like my big cousins had taught me (knee down to make a backstop in case you miss, start with a nice big "net", eye on the ball, eye on the ball, eye on the ball ) but it was a bumpy ground, and the ball hit a bump just as it got near me, took off, hit me somewhere in the head or face. Gave up cricket after that, till forced to play it as a teen. (It's not a game for someone with two left hands, and ten thumbs.)

Honestly, these are 10 great catches, but no better than 100s of other catches you will see. By the way, on catch number 1, he caught the ball while on the field and then threw it to a team mate on the field (who caught it) before he ran over the boundary line.
I don't think #2 is a legal catch under current rules (not sure how old it is, so they might have changed the rules since then). Might be wrong, but I think the current rule requires that if you go outside the boundary, you have to touch the ground inside the boundary before making contact with the ball again (or similar). So while i's still a great catch, he needs to be back inside the field of play (and have some part of his body touch the ground) before he can complete the catch legally.
I wouldn't call number 2 to actually be legal a catch. Didn't reestablish contract in the field prior to catching the ball the second time. Would be like stepping out of the field as the ball comes in and leaping forward back into the field while catching the ball in mid air, should be a six.
@Chaddington98 I was once out all Friday night. I had one hour sleep and arrived at the ground 13 minutes before the start of play. My team won the toss and chose to bat even though one opening batsman wasn't there. I had to rush to get ready although I was more keen on telling everybody about my night even though there wasn't enough time. I continued my story to the other opening batsman. My team batted very poorly, including me. My team mates got out while I batted poorly without getting out. I batted for three and a half hours while all my team mates got out. So, I spent three and a half hours telling one team mate at a time and the entire other team and the umoires about getting picked up and taken home by two women. I had more sexual partners than hours sleep. I am legendary at my club for that day because apparently batsmen usually talk about cricket while batting and not their sexual exploits. Especially to the other team.....
The last ones video is old and misleading. The player actually throws the ball to another fielder who makes the catch. But its off screen in this video. So you don't see the 2nd fielder make the catch.
These are not the top ten by a long shot. The best ones are the nicks caught on low sideways dives in the slips where the fielders have milliseconds to react. The ball doesn't go high up in the air so there is no time to run and get near the ball. They are probably not included as catching them on slo-mo is very tough.
Chad taje a look at the top 10 slip catches. Those are pretty hard to take off fast bowlers because the ball is literally flying off the bat and the fieldsman is only feet away. Her's the link: ruclips.net/video/Qd2pHeiMcgo/видео.html
Nowhere near the top 10 in history. Perhaps the top 10 RECORDED in some region. Many of these are reactionary catches which are hit or miss but the most difficult to catch is the running outfield catch while running back over the shoulder (same as per baseball). These are planned and not reactionary. One of the best (recorded) was taken by Australian Travis Head who was awarded the MVP of the 2023 CWC World Cup Final.

If you manage to get another game the opponent's will continue to test your integrity
Especially in contact sports here
Best catches that open to interpretation of the individual's
What one thinks best another won't
Some think slip catches are better or wicket keeper's in close fielders
There all have outstanding catches in their own rights
So don't believe these are the best but outstanding catches
Some earlier games had outstanding catches as well
But you'll never see them because footage is in poor quality now
Every season there's outstanding catches just as bowling and bats man
Its a fluid part of all games for every changing and this is just what someone put together
Been as good if not better this year but not on this list
So i like to look at them as outstanding catches not the run of the mill but best thats up for interpretation
Im not having ago at you or even the person made the real just trying to keep things in perspective
Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Slime to buckles? I’ll have to look that one up haha
Yes, spin bowlers with Shane Warne as well as James Anderson Bowling Highlights "The King of Swing"
I wouldn't call number 2 to actually be legal a catch. Didn't reestablish contract in the field prior to catching the ball the second time. Would be like stepping out of the field as the ball comes in and leaping forward back into the field while catching the ball in mid air, should be a six.
Look up Denis Lilly. Great Aussie bowler.
Better still look up Dennis Lillee.
Vote Jadeja catch here!
Gloves? That would take all the skill out of the catches - like baseball.
I have taken catches that would make this list, many while still drunk. Adam Dale and I aren't the only Aussies who can catch either.....
Haha. Cricket seems like a dangerous sport to play drunk.
You watching a fanmade vedio
My guy you should react to how India created 11 billion dollars cricket empire next much love from India ❤
Recommend you check out best run-outs of all time.
He could have thrown it on the ground but it wouldn't be a catch, but it would have saved 6 runs.
World no 1 Jonty Rhodes 😊😊❤
these r not top 10 catches of all time these are just random 10 good catches
These are great catches but not the best ones as it depends on what country the person is from who posted the video as they tend to be too biased.
It's not best catch of history but some examples their are thousand of catch this video just give glimpse of these
Some strange audio phasing going on in the clip. 2 tracks going into the edit perhaps? Enjoy the cricket.
Apologies! Yes, there were two tracks, but I can't imagine it would be phasing unless my microphone was picking up sound from my headphones. I'll have to do some investigation. Thank you!
@@Chaddington98 You're welcome. Not a huge problem but thought it might be helpful to note. Try out some AFL one day too. 2023 Grand Final highlights for a very exciting game but maybe an intro to the game first. I still have issues with some of the rules for these sports after a lifetime of watching so good luck!
Chaddington. You'd be better off sticking to baseball.
Some of these arent even top 1000 catches, certainly none of these would make it into the top 10 catches.
Oh dear they left out one of the most legendary catches of all time, caught by rugby league player Paul ‘Fatty’ Vaughton. ruclips.net/video/-qlR8YBpAls/видео.htmlsi=F-V8SlbojQ_bsouh
This video is definitely made by an Indian dude, sneaked some pretty average catches into the list😂
React on ab devilliers fastest 100
There's at least 300 better catches in slips and gully than those.
Plz react on shane Warne top 10 wickets
pls nrl reaction
ruclips.net/video/o4Xkt62NQfQ/видео.html Please react to this brother. One of the greatest finishes to a test match, and also the most watched test match ever.
No gloves and the cricket ball is much harder (and heavier) than a baseball, but cricketers are not softies.... 🙂 Plus it has a hard seam that while the ball is new, can cut your skin.
Watch ms dhoni wicket keeping

Wow, what was that black monolith thing doing there? haha
The question really is, why wear gloves?
PLEASE REACT TO "ms dhoni insane wicket keeping"
all ways find it funny ... baseball players scared to catch without a glove (cricket) ... what you dont wear padding American football (rugby) usa sport is minor league
