“I didn’t shoot the gun.” So the criminal thinks it okay to run around with a gun and not get shot at as long as he doesn’t shoot first.

OK the first guy is the most in-shape cop I've seen in a long time. He actually ran fast for more than 45 seconds, with tactical gear on. Amazing, I never thought I'd see it.
Most people dont know how much that gear weighs
I asked an officer how much all his gear weighed and he told me it was 22 pounds.@@marklane61
It’s swat, completely different breed.
I have a dad in my Trail Life troop that is a KCPD officer. He said he's walking his beat downtown now than in his vehicle. He's in his 30's and can out compete any of us dads. He swears he can run down 20 year olds with all his gear on him and I don't doubt the man! 👍🏼
I'm retired now, but in my day I was a foot pursuit legend. I worked in a major college town. One night I ran down a very, large, fit, twenty year old. As I was cuffing him he begged to be let go because he was a tight end on the football team. My partner caught up to us, laughed in his face, and said he needed to be benched because he got ran down by a 40 year old. I still have the apology letter that I'm sure the coach made him write me.
1. That was badass.
He was running in +40 lbs of gear several hundred meters, calling positions, gaining ground, announcing to drop the gun several times, and hit his target on the move.
2. That officer’s got air in the tank, suspension on the wheels, and a solid sight picture.
3. Holy shit that officer has the skills.
4. So badass.
He did miss at least once and that hissing noise I think was the refrigerant leaking out of the AC unit which means one of his bullets hit the air conditioner
Firing those shots involved a truckload of risk.
Innocent practically right beside the perp in the line of fire…
No knowledge of who/what is in the minivan…
No definitive knowledge of what was beyond the minivan, aside from residences…
How many shots fired? And only one hit, which was likely a through shot…
I’m not belittling how challenging the situation was… but I think you guys are giving this officer too much of a pass on his responsibilities here.
So glad the outcome was what it was… but it easily could have ended much worse.
Just think of how little would have had to go only slightly different, for this to have ended in an indisputable tragedy.
Was it ever determined where all of these shots ended up? And how easily could a civilian have been in any of those locations?
Yes, the officer(s) got the job done…
But I do hope the department evaluated this much more critically.
@bobinthewest8559 Sorry...but you are belittling. You sound like a terrific Monday morning quarterback.
Did you even listen to John's critique?
We need and want LE officers that do this.
Maybe you should spend time counciling the bad guys to stop running when told and to drop the guns as directed. Then these situations go away.
True. Quite the shot. But,... the casual dude hanging by his mini van is ticked about the winded officer popping off rounds, one handed, unbraced while running, at a moving target three feet from the dude. Fortunately he pulled the missed shots the other way and hit the air conditioning unit. Freon hissing out. Target fixation or tunnel vision so didn't see the civilian dude?

Can't fix stupid.
Enough holes in stupid and it doesn't repeat.
Man the speed and fitness of the officer is amazing.
Watching him run, I thought it was sped up. Then the audio hit.
I was just thinking that. And we can hear his gear rattling. I wonder how much all that stuff weighs.
Yeah even though he was breathing like Darth Vador after smoking a carton of cigarettes with a bad case of pneumonia, he did do a great job. Must run like 25 miles every morning before work.
i woulda been like “oh well he got away with it…”
That's what I was thinking.
I love the fact that the officers just let him talk - no banter back and forth.
The way it should be.
Yeah, I hate when officers banter back and forth with these idiots.
I do like the "Because you're an idiot!" responses from cops as well as the "What did you think was gonna happen?" - makes my day every time. But yeah, the "no I didn't yes you did" baloney is good to not have.
i prefer a good old fashioned "shaddup" and nothin else lol

I was in the Army, infantry, for 28yrs. Running, wearing lots of gear, adrenaline dumped, and now you must engage a threat? You must be accurate. Simple? No way. That is one reason we did physical training every morning. Lots of running. Weight training too, lots of pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, etc. Combative training as well. Some may believe or think it is not that hard to do what the officer did here? You might want to check that thought at the door, and rethink this one. Definitely a thumbs up from me.
Ive posted this before, but many years ago I was a Law Enforcement in the U.S.A.F. Part of our range training involved running 50 yards, dropping for 25 pushups, then shooting at a target 10 yards away. The point of this was (our instructors said) to accurately similate your heartrate during a lethal force incident. Try it! Youll be amazed at how hard it is to shoot straight at someone 30 FEET AWAY! This Cop is hardcore!!
That training is also good for home defense training. Your pulse rate, if someones in your house at 3 a.m., etc
When was this? Thinking of being in it as well; do you get pepper sprayed at tech school?
I was a medic in the USAF and trained with the ARMY for Combat Skills Training prior to a deployment. They had us do the push-ups, running 50 yrs in full battle rattle then shoot at 100yrd pop-up target with an M4 with Aimpoint. That was hard as shit! This cop did an awesome job!

I love how bamboozled he is that they broke the rules of playing cops & robbers.
😄
That's the whole thing; They treat life as a game where they get to make all the rules and everyone else has predesignated roles. At any sign of deviation caused by themselves that doesn't gets played along with or outright challenged, they blame everything that happens on these "deviants". It's like a messy theater play in their minds where they're both the director _and_ the main character, nobody is told the script but expected to know exactly what the director wants them to do, and the director intentionally tries set everyone else up for failure in the vain hope of stealing the spotlight all for themselves. And the only thing that has kept them going like that for all their lives is that they've been allowed to push limits to the extent they believe they'll always get things their way if they cause enough ruckus about it.

Officer Lopez was perfect. He was running fast, gun in hand, talking on radio, under stress, around apartment, and around citizens. Yet, he kept very clear on the radio, very clear minded, he did not seem winded, kept giving runner clear directions and chances and made a shot!
Most cops I see in foot chases on You Tube are very hyped up, do not speak clearly on radio and I hope they do not suffer heart failure, seriously. So many out of shape and overweight police officers. For their job to be done safely for themselves and all people around they need to be in shape mentally and physically like Officer Lopez. That's actually very dangerous running after a criminal with a gun.. Then the perp was like "I didn't even shoot" acting like its a game. Being a cop in the USA is very difficult. If he shoot first he could be in prison, if he wait for the criminal to shoot first he could be dead.
“I didn’t even shoot” oh my lord this guy really thinks the police can only shoot once you shoot
Let's keep in mind the cops are chasing him have 30 pounds of gear on and STILL caught him! Very impressive!!!
One of the few cops who are actually in shape. I never thought I'd see it.
To be fair, the perp was not in shape and far from an athlete. In the initial shot of him “running” down the sidewalk, you can see he’s not too coordinated, regardless of holding the gun in his hoodie. But props to the cop for the shot on the run.
Good awareness by the civilian at 1:43. He got the heck out of the way. Awesome job by the officer.

Yeah it's ridiculous and people who defend these criminals also use this type of logic.
That's how it works here in Brazil, a few days ago, a police officer was hit by a criminal , almost the same scene here, but the criminal fired his gun hitting the office who dies in the hospital
Holy shit that cop has some fitness and skills, to go from sprinting to accurate shots on target at distance is wild.

Being able to keep up with him while carrying all that gear is amazing
What's really impressive is the lead officer running a 400 meter sprint, fully clothed and carrying 30 lbs of equipment.
Hats off to these dedicated officers.
If any one wants to defund the police, he should take a look at how these officers run to protect the community.
Lol defunding the police, isn't about preventing the police from doing their primary job of policing. What defund the police means is we should have multiple agencies, specifically trained to deal with emergency/police calls that are not policing oriented but the police have had to respond to. Someone having a mental health crisis shouldn't have the police respond unless there is danger to the public, a trained crisis worker should be the one responding. Someone having a bad trip of drugs, or acting erratically, but not in a violent way also shouldn't have the police respond. It's about targeting that current police budget to other programs that take these non-policing related calls off the burden of the police, thus freeing up the police to handle calls that fall into that policing basket.
That is what defunding the police is about.
@@Torsin2000 I think of the CHAZ/CHOP Autonomous zones when I think of, "defund the police," and that's what everyone else has been insinuating at.

the fact he thinks saying he didn’t shoot is going to mean something.
“I didn’t shoot!” Just demonstrates that this perp never fully understood the consequences of being a criminal. He viewed it as being some sort of cordial game between him and police, and imagined that there were some rules of engagement that he had control over. Maybe he was just struggling to establish himself as a victim, but I think he actually believed that this was simply a foot race that if he won, the matter would be closed.

Having had a very serious hand injury I’ve had extensive experience in having needing a tourniquet. After having one for about an hours time in the ER placed by the nurses the physician came in. He scolded the nurses for having that tourniquet placed right where the arm begins as been a very painful place to have it. I cut my hand in half and i got to tell you that tourniquet made my hand and arm in as much pain as the cut i had. I think proper training on placement of that tourniquet is needed. Yeah, i don’t give this guy much empathy but sometimes police respond to victim shootings as well. It should have been right above that elbow if it was necessary. If you caught it, the suspect didn’t moan until that tourniquet was tightened.
I bet they do it correctly for people who deserve help
I agree: I just completed a "Stop the Bleed" course that also advised placing tourniquet on the limb directly, and not over clothing. The doctor advised that if the bleeding continued after being placed above the wound on the appendage, then to attach a second tourniquet higher on the appendage.
Hell yeah, cop communicated while sprinting after a suspect and was still able to get rounds on target while moving, and slow down at the drop of a hat.
