Wow . That looked so much fun . Good grub and a cosy bed . What more could you want ? Taking everything you need in the canoe is a winner .

Hey Chas, yes - one of the troubles with a canoe... everything and the kitchen sink at times...LOLS. Thanks for the comment.

Cheers Charlie. You are right. I was tracking the weather for some time. There was a gap and I shifted some plans and took a day off work to slot the adventure in... it all worked.
      I hope you are well.

      Nice one George.
Whilst I have been on the water, kayaking/canoeing this is the first camp of 2024... gosh those dark nights, I can't stand them.
      I hope you are well.

It looks like the perfect getaway. I'm looking forward to getting away paddling up to Loch Lomond next week. But I quite fancy having a look up at that Loch with those beaches.
    Great video.

Nice one. have a great time on Loch Lomond...even better if you get to Loch Laidon... the remoteness is fantastic. No road noise or boat noise. The odd train rumbling through - ha ha

Jim, looks great and you judged the weather well. Cinematography awesome too. For your book, 2 things. 1. Basic starter kit/items for those who want to at least start to as you are doing, but safely and within a reasonable budget. 2. Some of your favourite places in Scotland you have kayaked/camped. Finally, less shellfish in your camping dinners. 😆. Keep it up Jim.

Greig, brilliant, glad you liked it. Yes - there was a narrow window I I took a 'snap' day off work to go. It paid off.
WRT the book. Noted on the basics, I'll include a basic option. I'll also highlight some of the best spots I have been to, in Scotland and why!
Shellfish, we need to have a chat about that...LOLs.
Nice one mate catch you soon!
      Thanks for the feedback!

Good news on the book, thoughts to be included in a book tic management and how to avoid, food, places to access the lochs and possibly where to park, maybe some sights to see or camping spots/areas. Friendly nearby taxis that may take a canoe….that might be wishful thinking 😁
    Fantastic looking loch

      Martin, cheers - great feedback.
Tic management, I'm only too well aware of that I ended in hospital as a result of tic, but, for whatever reason, I never gave it thought in the book. Good shout out and reminder. I'll add that to the book!
Food, places to access in the Scottish area, I'll add some of my favourite places to eat out. Getting to and from launch points was that what you meant?
Sights to see, like castles, ruins etc etc. Good shout, I'll add that.
Yes, taxi services for canoes... yes that could be challenging - but I'm up to that.
Great comments and thanks. Watch out for these in the book. There will be a credit to you for this. Cheers.

James, it looks like you had a great trip! Stunning scenery and isolation. Perfect.
For the book, I’d love to see some tips on building recipes, and how you prep your meals ahead of time. I’d also like to know your thoughts on reading the weather-especially Scottish weather!
Meanwhile, I’m settling in to life in Japan. So far, so good! If you and Karen ever venture to Okinawa, hopefully our paths will cross.
Looking forward to the book! Be sure to let us know how to get signed copies! Cheers!

Frank - so glad you guys are settled in at Okinawa! I'm sure one day well cross paths. We should plan a paddling adventure. I did go to Japan and paddle some rivers a few years ago. I loved it! Fantastic people.
Yes, food. There's been a lot of feedback on food, recipes etc so I shall include that - thanks. Weather is a good one. As much as I (or we) study weather ahead of trips they are just a forecast and at times it's a skill like reading water. Seeing what's on the horizon can help in decision making.
As for the book, you my friend will have one sent to you - I'll make that happen.
      Thanks Frank!
