      V10f has a tiny weak axel, I want something light that I can jump still. Like onewheel guys are dropping 5 foot to flat and roll away, V10 would crumble, hell I wouldn't like doing that on the v12 peddle hanger would probably explode.

      No one buys a V10F to jump it 5 feet... It's an awesome city commuter wheel. Probably the best one still for how much it can do for how slim it is. You can easily carry it into a bus. A refresh would be amazing.

    The lowest hanging fruit for weight lowering is currently the Axial Flux motor at 1/3 volume and more than 50% weight reduction. These are currently being mass produced for both automobiles, airplanes and scooters, which is the power range needed for EUCs. Whichever manufacturer is able to design a high quality suspension wheel for beginner and intermediate riders will significantly gap the competition until they are able to catch up. Why anyone would buy a new wheel (until this is implemented) is beyond my comprehension given that the toughest competition is now coming from the high availability of low price/ high-value previously loved EUCs.
    Until AF motors become available, the 16x, v8/10, and 18xl are great for beginner/intermediate riders, and the v14, Lynx, Commander Mini and Sherman-S are excellent values for intermediate/advanced riders.
    For manufacturers, the future is clear: Go Axial Flux or Go Bankrupt.

    • @SergioFlorente
      @SergioFlorente Месяц назад +5

      That’s spot on. The typical DD motors are antiques. Way too heavy.
      My other concern is batteries. I want power but I prefer fast charging than large capacity. I use graphene RC lipo, because of their high C-Rate. They charge fast, and a small battery can deliver high power. Add battery casings designed to access quick battery swap, then they could sell it to me without the batteries.
      They are still far from suspension optimization. I was excited when they came up with a shock, At least we can fit a modern shock, but the linkage and sliders are very high maintenance crap. I think they should build with a front DH fork instead of a shock.
      Everybody seems to find a 60 lbs EUC is lightweight nowadays. I don’t. I started with a Firewheel 779 that was 32 lbs, and my dream is to come back close to that weight. Let’s say I’d spend good money for a 40 lbs performance wheel, and that’s perfectly feasible with modern technology.

    • @RonnieRides
      @RonnieRides Месяц назад +1

      There's plenty of challenges to overcome with Axial Flux (expensive manufacturing being one of them, design considerations being another), google Axial Flux challenges and you can see that it's not so easy as just switching to it.

    • @LaggerSVK
      @LaggerSVK Месяц назад

      its comparing little bit of apple to oranges. The motor in the EUCs are Hub motors. They are taking the loads through casing. Needs to be environmentally proofed. You need to control them really precisely and at 0 speed. You also have cooling needs around stall torque. Its not the same if you are really creating a single use electric machine. The euc has some very specific demands.

    • @grb1969
      @grb1969 Месяц назад

      Yes, some challenges in implementation do exist but I believe every technical difficulty in application of AF motors to EUC will actually strengthen the utility of the wheels if systematically integrated.

    I weigh a little under 140lbs and I have a lynx and I find it to be just too bulky and heavy for the most part I have a v11 in addition to it and I'm planning on selling the Lynx and getting the :
    V11Y to supplement it. I definitely have not been feeling the sheer weight and bulk of the bigger wheels. It's totally taken out the fun factor that eucs always had for me! I'm thinking that a wheel that's a bit above half my body weight is the sweet spot, which ends up being in that low 70lb range. It would be killer to have a wheel that had a bit over 2000wh which was just at the 70lb mark with suspension!
    All that being said, I like the v11 a lot because of the way it rides. It accelerates and breaks really easily it feels fairly powerful, and the battery packs are low beneath the pedals, which I think gives it a nice feeling of stability.

    I tried the Falken and the S22 for the first time and both of them in succession. The thing I noticed more than the weight was the tire and the tire pressure can change your opinion of wheel even though it is a somewhat easy and cheaper fix. A did notice the falcon has a very nice suspension feel. I currently run strong dependent on 3000wh to make 50 mile trips every other week and that is a favorite ride of mine to a favorite town and coffee shop. The ride is spectacular bridges roads parks rivers canopy of tree cover climbs with a reward of views and very nice path. I only really want one wheel to replace my old og sherman last version. I think the V14 is one choice but a reasonable wheel with the thrill of acceleration and a suspension but it appeared to have these tiny constant bouncing motions at speed ? The commander mini looks like a savings and a good choice with savings but I have been caught in the rain with the Sherman listening to beeps maybe because water got in despite my plastic bag over the top. Ip os important. Which leaves the begode 2400wh Blitz though I would wait for a revision.

I ride 95% street and some trails here and there, and so I was leaning towards the Max. Since you have ridden both, are you able to recommend one over the other for me? THey are very expensive, and i have no friends who ride so it is hard for me to get opinions of experienced riders. Thanks, and thanks again for all your content!

    Good to hear at least an intention of small... I learned on a V8F and that's technically heftable into a car. Now I've resigned myself to always riding an S18 because that's as heavy as I can go. I've hurt myself plenty of times carrying it up and down stairs and over fallen trees so something like an S19 is... Godzilla. We're getting to the era where you can literally buy folding motorcycle ramps for loading your EUC into a car, wtf... may as well just get a Surron at that point since mobility is gone.
    I need to make a new spreadsheet crunching weights and from there maybe see if anything on the market looks good yet. Honestly, I could just stick with an S18 permanently since they're all tanks comparatively when it comes to offroad suspension EUCs.

    • @Erafune

      If you want to take it grocery shopping - 1000%.
      The V12 has a hidden feature. The thin trolley handle is perfect to hang your full face helmet on. Helmet hangs on the front of the V12 with the chinguard around the handle. Invaluable when you enter a supermarket.
      One drawback is the front and rear lights that both need intervention after purchase. The front lowbeam light just need to be cutoff with some black tape, to prevent it from blinding everyone in front. I use a piece of carbon fiber protective film cut to shape. Looks neat.
      The rear lights however is so dark it needs to have holes drilled through the light cover panel and then cover the holes with clear protective film. Need a drill. I used 2, 4, 6, 9 mm drill bits to get the perfect 9 mm holes. Ten holes per side with about 11 mm between them. Just put masking tape on the transparent part of the panel and you can measure and draw on the tape, and then drill through the tape. Recommend to disassemble the wheel to remove the panel before you drill.
      The reward you get is a wheel that have absolutely SICK rear lights. Best on the market.

    The big weight savings will come with next gen batteries with higher energy density. There's only so much weight they can cut outside of the packs. Imagine if the battery packs shaved 20% of their weight and dimensions, about 5-6 kg from the wheel, with a lower center of gravity.
    Throw in the possibility for new chemistries that are incapable of starting on fire, such as solid state, or significantly less likely, such as high energy density LFP cells. Add in that some of these cell chemistries will actually be cheaper to manufacture because of less high priced metals like Nickel and Cobalt, or possibly less or no Lithium.
    EUC OEMs have been listening to the community a ton on their higher end wheels; now we just need some revised lower end wheels with some of this new tech. I think we have to remember that these aren't large / rich OEMs. It takes them time to develop and refine tech and design better products, to source new metals and setup manufacturing contracts. It also takes time to grow the customer base of those willing spend more on higher tech wheels with better materials.
    What I would give for a super light weight 30 mph wheel with suspension and a smart BMS, and redundancies to avoid board / fuse / hall sensor related cutouts. The suspension doesn't even need to be great.

    Its a no brainer: the V8S !!! $699, no tax, free shipping. I put 3,400 miles on it in last 14 months. Glorious miles 🤗.
    ....
    V14 !!! $2,999. Purchased last month. I hav 440 miles on it. Portability ? El crappo 😁. Not really pleased w performance either. (Btw: Sport mode, 100% hardness, 50% acc assist, 100% braking assist). Carves poorly w stock tire at all pressures. Does not stop worth a damn (stock pads). Sorta stops at 100% assist. But "assist" comes w a delay.. A DELAY !! Wtf. Why does it do that braking ?? Accelerating, yeah. Braking? Clueless firmware. Certainly rules offroad though 👍. Does brake well on death steep dirt descents. Pedestrian suddenly jump out in front of u? Think of a car that needs u to "prepare": brace your body, use both feet on the brake pedal, wait out the braking assist until it gathers steam... By then u just broke a pedestrians lower legs.
    Anyway, i just ordered the kenda 241. Hopefully that will work miracles. Ongoing. Will advise..
    V8S for the price, portability, fun factor, home depot aisle cruising 🙂, and deft padless performance it just rocks. Yes it can climb any asphalt hill easily: cause u carve radically as u climb. What a good & useful wheel.
