  • It’s hunting season and that means it’s also time to create the list, compile your gear and load up your pack! Lorenzo, Brady and Trail sit down to discuss gear selections for their upcoming archery elk hunts and Brady’s Alaskan moose hunt. They pour over every detail, including pack selection, boots, layering systems, sleep systems, stoves, hydration, kill kits, and Lorenzo does a killer deep DEEP dive into his food selection. This is a must listen prior to loading up the truck and headed out in 2023.

You should reveal Lorenzo's back country/backpack food menu. There are many hunters that could benefit that have stomach problems.

    LMAO!
I thought I was the only guy who had a mess around his room with gear everywhere obsessing over not forgetting anything , up
Past midnight still adding and subtracting stuff from the gear list! Still leaves the house only to turn around and get ONE MORE thing!😂😂😂
    Good times.

To fix your pillow issue you just put commercial grade Velcro strips on back of your pillow and wherever in your bag or pad you want it and it’ll stay plus you can remove it when you want

@gohunt, zpacks and trekology both make pillows with repsective pad straps. The Zpacks pillow is under 2 oz and trekology is under 4. I've been an ultralight backpacker for years and its amazing how slow the hunting community is at adopting gear that isn't made by hunting brands. My crew just pulled out a Roosevelt out of Northern CA on a DIY hunt and I made sure every ounce of gear counted!

I really enjoyed this bag dump video. I must have missed an earlier one because I noticed Trail and Brady loving a new tripod manufacturer. What made you two convert to Tricer over your previous brand (Cannot think of brand at moment but you two used to really brag about it and used it). Thanks !!

Thanks for reminding me to pickup that Phelps bugle tube with the external reeds. I can't use traditional reeds because I have damaged palate. I do use cow calls.
Also protip to anyone using the ez suckr. They have different reeds with different pitches and volumes.

When y'all were talking sleep systems and sleeping bags, Brady mentioned he wished his quilt system had a hood. I would check out the Zen Bivy quilt system. I got one and will be putting it through its paces next week on an archery elk hunt. It's a nice little system with a unique way of keeping drafts out. Has a hood in the system and way to cinch up around the neck are to keep more draft out.

Hey Brady what size stove are you running in the Solitude? I have a little Rota Lucura WiFi stove but its tiny and dont think it could heat something that big. The medium stove through Seek looks pretty small too, you must be using the large eh?
